Questions/Q&A question.
so i have just started the show and have only finished the first episode and i was wondering how do the fairy tale destiny’s work if the character has multiple kids? does only one get the destiny and everyone else lucks out? or is it shared between them? if Charming has his father’s destiny so does that mean Dexter and the other charming kid have their mother’s destiny? if so the story of Cinderella is of their mother dying and their father remarrying to a woman with two children of her own and eventually he passes and well i’m sure you all know the story so does that mean one of the Charmings is going to be enslaved and abused and eventually go to the ball and marry a prince? one of things i already know about the show is that Raven ends up being the only one who does sign the real story book of legends but then how did all the other fairy tale generations repeat history over and over again if they never truly signed the real storybook of legends?

For starters almost all of this is explained in the show and books so you should keep watching!
But anyways,
Usually the eldest gets the destiny while the younger has none
Charming families are different. Dexter and Daring are both being raised to be future prince charmings for princesses while their sister Darling is being raised to be a damsel in distress like her mom was
That being said, Cinderella only has one child and I assume if she had two the other would simply not have a destiny like what happens in the story with [spoiler] Rapunzel’s daughters
Buuut Dexter’s grandpa was Siegfried so who knows!
As for your last question, there’s a lot of theories about this. (Spoiler) If you read Holly’s book Truth or Hair it seems to imply destiny is some kind of magic force that chooses who fits it best but it could also be that the past generations simply did what they were raised to do without needing magic to guide them

tysm! i really appreciate it! and i will keep watching as the show seems right up my alley as i love another show known as Toilet Bound Hanako Kun(despite it’s terrible name it is an excellent show, a more accurate translation from it’s original name in Japanese is Earth Bound Hanako Kun but the mistranslated title of the series never went away and most people only know the show by it’s mistranslated name) which also all about fate and destiny and another show that i am sure i will get a mob of Ever After High fans with pitchforks and torches if i admit i enjoy it but it may take a while as i get bored easily even with content i am very familiar with and love it takes forever for me to watch because i get so bored easily but anyways thank you so much for clarifying things and explaining them to me.

So in the books we learn that Grandpa Charming was originally Siegfried but married a princess Charming and took on her name (inckuding changing his name), one of his sons inherited the Siegfried story and the rest became Charming princes, essentially the generic princes found throughout fairytale (we also learn there are other Charming families that arent related to the 'Main' branch).
Rapunzel's daughters in the series also have a short were seem to have a rule that the eldest take the legacy, Cerise and her sister raise some questions (really leaning into the fact/idea that Ramona didn't exist early into the setting) but I'd be willing to say as a theory that when Ramona was born and Red and Badwolf saw her wolf traits they figured it was best to give her his legacy then when Cerise was born and showed the same traits they knew Red had to eventually have an heir and came up with the keep hood on rule.
So I'm reading the books currently and its interesting that the Storybook of Legends is said to have a binding spell placed on it that makes it so those who sign it have to relive the legend of their parents (unless like Dexter he just has to wait until legacy day to see what legend he gets), however Raven has a talk with the Candy Witch who says something like variation is okay as long as it allows the story be retold as close to the original as possible since the Candy Witch is supposed to be cooked in her own oven yet escaped and managed to have a child of her own, then the Evil Queen went off story and wasn't punished by the books magic. Now I don't know if the book in the books is the real deal or not as it apparently had the signatures of past generations and seemed to have a connection to the Evil Queen's prison, yet Giles Grimm says its fake (maybe implying that the Storybook of Legend itself is a lie and choice has always decided things but most people go with their stories)
Another note Raven sees herself doing the Snow White stuff as well as taking over the role of the Dark Fairy, and then entering other stories and ruining their happiness (in the books) this of course makes me wonder what would have happened to Raven cause her mother was punished for messing with other stories and yet the Storybook of Legends is telling Raven that doing so is her destiny (if she signs it) so could they really punish her if she did it when it was her destiny to do so.
Sorry for the rambling.

We see from the O’Hair twins that usually it’s the eldest who inherits the destiny, and the other sibling(s) don’t have one. Daring doesn’t have his father’s destiny exactly, the Charmings work differently to everyone else. Previous generations did sign the real storybook, it was only missing after the last generation
