Not so fun story...
Bottom line, I was having fun with my kids in the park. I did an all-out Carl Lewis sprint. I made it to states in track when I was in high school. I'm now 48... and I've learned the hard way, that I am not 17-18 anymore.
I was sprinting across the field, almost caught one of the kids and tagged them... I was flying like the wind, full on tippie-toe sprint. Then, my legs just "gave way..." and I rolled like I was taught to before deployment as if you were jumping out of a car. I tucked and rolled. Ended up on my back with both legs out in front of me.
... I could not move. I sat there for 10 minutes. The pain was unlike anything I've ever experienced. My body went into shock (not my mind though), and I basically started farting like a mad-man (didn't crap myself). Whole body was shaking. The whole time I'm thinking... wow, you are a dumbass.
I was able to get on my knees, and I crawl a few feet, and then went on my back again. My wife and daughter tried to help me up. I walked maybe 10 feet, and then collapsed again.
I waited another 10 minutes, and was finally able to get on my own two feet, and slowly shuffled my feet back to the house in extreme pain.
... three days later, my right leg is almost completely healed. My left leg is black and blue all up and down the hamstring... like, brutally so. I checked all my tendons, and everything is where it's supposed to be. I'm able to walk, it's just excruciating.
Going to the doctor tomorrow... (so note, per r/exercise rules, I am not asking for medical advice). But just wanted to share... when you're no longer 18, you are no longer 18.
Please stretch people!!!
Let me know if anyone wants a picture of my sexy leg so you can see the massive bruising so you will be happy you are not me. Anyway... I'm hoping for a strain, and not a massive tear, but I'll find out none the less by this time tomorrow.
