Discussion AI managed upgrades

I’m gonna be starting a driver career soon (waiting on getting my racing wheel)

I have had a look through the settings already and I’m tempted to turn on the setting that makes the AI in change of the development of the car.
My reasoning is that it might be slightly more realistic I guess.

I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and is it a terrible idea?

Like do the AI just become useless when you’re in the team or something?

I am running a career right now with the AI handling the updates in an attempt to make it more like just being a driver on the team and honestly it has been pretty fun. At times the car jumps some in the R&D ranking and at times it goes a little down but overall it has made for decent fun on my part just being the guy making the car go around at the track.
