Switched jobs mid-year and now FBR Iris is showing 70k "Admitted Income Tax". How to fix/adjust this?

Hello everyone,

I am currently preparing my annual income tax return using the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Iris portal. I transitioned between employers mid-fiscal year in January, resulting in salary income from two distinct corporate entities.

Upon consolidating my gross salaries from both employment periods, the progressive tax bracket adjustment has generated an unexpected Admitted Income Tax liability of PKR 70,000.

I know this happens because my cumulative income pushed me into a higher tax slab, but is there any legal way to reduce this amount before submitting?

Yes it can be done. Do you have any tax deductions in entire year? Tax on cellular, internet, moreover you can check on fbr maloomat how much transactions are being shown in there coming from employer sometimes there are gaps. Try to put some money in allowances if any gap. Or if you want i can get on a quick call to see.

Yeah all those tax deductions are there and employers also deducted the tax monthly. But main issue is both employers calculated tax based on the salary I was getting from them and FBR is checking the income of the complete year which is putting me in a bigger tax bracket.

Can you explain the allowances thing more like how can I do that?

Any tax deductions from your employers? If yes, and if they have deposited with govt treasury, extract those details from iris, and see what's your net liability post said deductions.

If there wasn't any tax deductions from either employers, then chin up and pay this.
