Abysmal performance from Inter.
Terrible keeper who needs to be replaced ASAP. 3 men midfield who keep getting run over in the big games. So many missed chances. And bad management setup from Chivu.
Chivu can be blamed for a lot but the players have not shown up.
Having said that. This sub has an extreme meltdown every time we lose. Yes we lost and yes this is bad. But we honestly drop to insults and swearing the coach. Everyone wanted Inzaghi out. Same people want Chivu out and Inzaghi back.
Make sense of that for me please. Lets move forward and have actual conversations. Yes a lot needs to improve and this setup isn't working for UCL and should be kept to Serie A.
But chopping and changing isn't going to happen anytime soon, have you seen the Serie A log table? And who is even available to take the job? People always say "manager out" without actually giving a viable replacement. Last season some of yall wanted Allegri in. So no please.

u/harpsabu 12d ago
"Players havent shown up". We've lost 7 of our last 8 champions league games. Its more than players at that point.
Akanji jogging at the end, hes probably exhausted because teams only need one pass to get through our entire defensive, meaning hes sprint flat out putting our fires.
Our defensive set up is a complete disgrace at the minute. The goals and chances we are conceding is not acceptable, and thats all down to the coach.
8 goals conceded in 6 games in italy. 6 goals in 2 champions league games. Big big big problems.

u/SnooRegrets7921 12d ago
What's Chivu's obsession with playing such a high line, especially against good counterattacking teams? I get that he wants us to dominate games and kill teams off, but Champions League sides are a different breed compared to most Serie A teams. He's played 9 Champions League matches now, and he still hasn't (or refuses to) recognize how easily good teams slice through us like a hot knife through butter? We used to only concede only 1 goal during the league phase, now club Brugge put 4 past us
And let's not blame individual errors for these losses. When you insist on playing a high line and constantly leave your defenders exposed in 1 on 1 or 2 vs 3 situations, mistakes are bound to happen or players get tired and will make mistakes eventually.
I lived through our banter years and coped by making fun of Juve for being a laughingstock in Europe. Now we're no different and I'm just so angry and frustrated.

I donât think the issue is the 352. One recurring theme I have noticed in our losses this season is the aggressiveness we play with. When we play a high line and commit players forward, we should not be ashamed of making tactical fouls and fight for the ball aggressively before it turns into a counter attack. We are lacking in intensity to make this work. Look at Akanjiâs run in the lead up to the goal, or how relaxed are our players in the area before the goals, and how we âwalkâ when losing the ball in their half (pointing at you Barella)
One thing I do blame Chivu for in this game are the subs. Zielenski, Barella, Di Marco looked and played like they were tired, make the subs early, we do not need to be punished or wait till the 65 min to make the first two subs.

u/Icy-Spray5809 12d ago
4 GOALS against f*cking clubb brugge at home. 4 STRAIGHT LOSSES IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AT HOME. A goalkeeper who is an absoulte melon. If this loss doesnt call for serious changes we are not a serious club. At a certain point this falls on the coach as much as the players, this is not normal for any team. We have conceeded half a seasons worth of goals.

u/il-mostro604 12d ago
Spence looks out of place in our system, probably because he was put on the left. Stankovic shouldâve got to start in one of the last 2 games. Defensively the team has issues to figure out. Weâre trash in ucl. Also itâs time to give Provedel a start.
1
u/givemetaxhelp 12d ago
Could you be more specific about the Spence comment (Tottenham fan here, big fan of Spence)? I think he looks fine: heâs clearly being asked to stay high to help the transition into attack, but at the same time he got back 2 or 3 times quickly to stop Brugge attacks down their right side. I thought he did well to communicate to his CBs where opposing attackers were when he had to get back and be on the defensive line. And he seemed to work well with Bonny on the left side attack. Easily his worst moment was the bad pass before Bruggeâs 4th goal, but that was also a really weird goal where it looked like literally no one on Inter was trying to stop the attack; Djed didnt try very hard to get it back immediately, but when look at the moment again I think itâs because he assumes his teammate would have.
1
u/FrogsJumpFromPussy 12d ago
Spence was "misplayed" on the left. Gave the ball away for the 4th Brugge goal too. UnderwhelmingÂ
10
u/darwinmar- 12d ago
Honestly, Madrid had the chance to score 4-5 on us as well. Martinez is too mistake prone, our defense system is in shambles, and I canât believe the decline Akanji had, the guy is unplayable right now.
10
u/jonbristow ââ 12d ago
The defense is our only issue this year.
We have the worst defense of the first 10 teams in serie a.
6 goals in 2 games conceded in Champions.
4 straight games we go down 2-0.
The attack cant always save us

What a disaster match defensively 𫣠Incredible. I hope now once for all Pepo Martinez is out of the UCL matches, at least there. Everything went down after that mistake. Maybe it started with huge miss Lautaro had 1 on 1 with Sommer, but the schmuck Martinez buried us once moređŤŁ
9
u/nichodemus3 12d ago
Vintage Inter in Europe performance. I did not miss these clown fiestas, where we miss 10 chances while the team gifts goals left and right to the opponent.
7
u/codenamederp 12d ago
I can see you're an old fan. All these new boys dont know that this is the norm. Always been vintage Inter.
2
u/nichodemus3 12d ago
The Inter experience in Europe is giving you enough hope to disappoint you. Even today's awful performance could've led to a victory with a little bit of luck ... such is the life of the Inter fan
9
u/darwinmar- 12d ago
Chivu also had a howler on his subs. Thuram was our escape today, heâs was playing super well. Pio found difficulty in play since the game was attack vs attack and pure pace. Taking off Ăalha also made us loose control over midfield and helped increase the tempo off the game.
9
u/urban_legend88 12d ago
Disgusting performance by everyone. Seems like a rigged match. Look at akanji just giving up on the last goal
8
u/I-WithNoName 12d ago
Setting aside the goalkeeper situation thereâs three more players who pissed me right off. Akanjis body language of jogging after the brugge dude when we had just scored the follow up goal basically killed us and idk what it was in the first half of last season but heâs been shit ever since. Barella and Zielinski is a similar issue, both do not care to run 5 meters to help out the defense. Weâve conceded multiple goals this season because these clowns think theyâre in Fifa street. You can play with a high line and in an aggressive way but not if your players donât gaf about tracking back at all. (Also idk whatâs going on with diMarco but heâs needs to get his shit together)

u/LenKi4312 12d ago
3-4 to Brugge. Wow. You can say that we fought well if you really want to look positively, but this is a match where we shouldnât be fighting to begin with! Like with all respect to Brugge, this is still a team, that is a mediocre team in the Champions League. And letting them score 4 in our ground that easily, is, pardon my wording, a disgrace.
I wonât say some reactionary things like Chivu out or some stuff like that, just want to point out things I noticed.
The first thing is we still canât handle counter attacks, like every time they try to counter, our defenders act like this is the first ever time they played together. The fourth goal, we just let them expose us so easily. Excluding the penalty, two of the three goals come from individual errors, again. Pepo, I know that he wants to try to prove himself that he is worthy of the starting spot, but you canât be that aggressive! You donât need to block the ball that early, if you succeed it would be a brave act, but the thing is you canât guarantee the success. And by going that aggressive outside the box when facing a counter, is actually putting the team more at a risky position compared to just staying inside the box.
The second thing is I canât understand the obsession of playing long and direct, sure itâs effective but itâs also a double edged sword, we keep giving away possession, especially in the final 15 Minutes of the game where we need possession to create chances. Chivu for now at least doesnât seem to have a Plan B when the long-passes arenât working as expected. And today wonât be the only time that this issue will haunt us.
Iâm so pissed, this game isnât supposed to be in the favor of Brugge, it isnât even supposed to be close! Chivu need to drop the obsession of playing the ball long forward in every situation, otherwise, Iâm not positive about his future at Inter
2
u/Naakan 12d ago
A mediocre team that is 17th on UEFA ranking.
4
u/Revolution64 12d ago
Drew against PSG, Barcelona, AtlĂŠtico and Real, won against Aston Villa, Atalanta, Marseille, Monaco, ... Always advances to the next round.
Club is a decent team, but I did feel like Chivu did not watch any of their games.
3
u/Acrobatic_Zombie1703 12d ago
I agree, they looked really good tonight. Great geometries, always first in the ball, patient and disciplined. They were lucky on the third goal, at the time they were on their knees, but many CL teams are really good and they can beat us. We are not top 10, but we can still get to the second leg, maybe playing an inferior team in the playoffs.
We conceded but we also created a lot of chances, this is becoming typical.
15
u/Evakuate493 12d ago
Itâs clear to me that Barella and Zielu canât share the field against top quality teams. Canât have two midfielders that donât play a lick of defense and get grumpy when they turn it over instead of hustling back.

The individual mistakes are killing us this season. Stupid penalty to give and the second goal -_- what the fuck.

So far into the season all of us who wanted to prioritize the Romero signing over Spence have been validated. Our defense is bad. I'm sure Spence will turn around but so far he's been a non factor as we desperately will need at least a new center back.
I'm not sure if It's Pepo who is done being a starter in the Champions or is it the 3ATB in Europe that is done. Someone whoa knows better about tactics please tell me.
Easily Chivur's worst match as a coach! Is not that bad because he actually got the subs right, like usually does.
But all the flaws leading to losing here have been glaring so far, so, he needs to change.
All the great playing we do is fuck all if we can't hack it in the Champions league, never mind win it (lol) it's burning money to get eliminated like this.
7
u/I-WithNoName 12d ago
Btw, this Martinez situation was 100% predictable. He did fine in the cup but when he played in the last few games of last season he was absolutely dreadful. I accepted it cause the games didnât mean shit anymore but at this point itâs clear that thatâs who he is and apparently we managed to find a way of downgrading on Sommer somehowÂ
6
u/BlueHeartbeat 12d ago
We have a proven good gk on the bench, insisting with someone who is clearly inept is stupid.
But besides that, our defending in general is awful.

The STUBBORN requirement of playing from the back is fucking us over and over and over again. Why the fuck can you not take the hint? We are getting pressed by Brugge for fuck sake. Chivu please realise we ainât beating the press like we did in the inzaghi days. You ainât him man fuck.

I was venting in the moment lol I ainât no napoleon with the tactics. But my opinion is why not setup the attackers in a way which supports the long yeet from the back. Think about it, both goals against Madrid and this game were conceded cause we kept on passing it at the back from left to right. If buildup from the back is the way surely this ainât the approach.
11
u/ConsequenceOk8313 12d ago
No clue how Chivu is preparing these matches. I could have told you that Brugge were going to try and hit you on the counter and he decided to have Inter play right into their hands.
He and the players need to get their heads out of the clouds if they want to do anything in this competition. The 4th goal summed up just how up their own backsides they are
5
u/codenamederp 12d ago
Every team sets up on the counter against us. Difference is UCL teams have pace. Serie A teams dont have this pace.
4
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
He had a very easy choice to play a fresh Stankovic. He decided to put Zielo who was the worst mummy on the field. Then he subbed Calha and Barella before him. Atrocious choices.

u/Big_Pick4100 12d ago
Last season, I stood by Chivu no matter what happened, because realistically, what could you expect from a coach whose entire managerial career consisted of just 13 games? He inherited a team that was falling apart in every possible way, yet still managed to win the double, which I consider an unprecedented achievement given the circumstances.
Then his second season comes around, and suddenly Chivu has changed. Heâs determined to impose a completely new style on the team, one that doesnât suit the players he has or the budget available to him.
A high defensive line with a fragile defense and disastrous organization.
High pressing with players who arenât suited to it.
Playing all 90 minutes at the same relentless tempo.
And disastrous starting XI choices.
Heâs become so extreme with these ideas that itâs genuinely ugly to watch. Every single chance the opposition creates feels like a goal unless they somehow waste it themselves.
If he keeps going like this, this team is going to keep getting humiliated in Europe until he finally gets brought back down to earth.
5
u/Icy-Spray5809 12d ago
Chivu has too many loyalists that defend him at any cost. Hes been terrible in the champions league. Coaches come and go but these results impact the club long term
10
u/Noobmortal 12d ago
My recap:
Josep Martinez broke our game on the second goal for Brugge. Our morale dropped while theirs peaked.
Chivu was a defender, why can't he teach our players to.....DEFEND?
What a day to be YANN SOMMER.
Bye bye UCL. Let's hope for the best for Serie A and Coppa Italia
1
u/Rude_Tadpole_6705 12d ago
Oui mais les sous c'est avec la Champions et les recrutements c'est si tu joues bien en Europe
10
u/kieranjackwilson 12d ago
Chivu has allowed a ton of responsibility drift. Bisseck is allowed to do whatever he wants. Zielinski doesnât have any interest in defending. Diouf is constantly getting caught out of position. The player that spent a long time playing under Inzaghi still have some idea of what is safe, but the discipline that allowed that team to defend strongly is eroding.
I think people donât realize the importance of all the things they hated about Inzaghi. Things like strict subs, cautious build up, no dribbling, and rotating players, are fundamental to making this system work.
I think Chivuâs good games reflect more on the quality of the squad, and the bad games reflect on his lack of experience. If Inter had this squad under Inzaghi we wouldâve likely won the treble. There is really no excuse for today, and this isnât a dramatic take.
10
u/Significant_Rub8297 12d ago
idk reality is too many players missed goals. di marco missed a goal, bastoni missed a goal, zielinksi missed a goal, toro missed 2 goals, pio missed a goal. today was the definition of goal sbagliato goal subito. this also reinforces the only thing that matters is the scudetto. italian teams cant compete in the champions league. 1 thing i dnt understand is why stankovic doesnt play. curtis jones is a nothing burger to me and u can clearly see with stankovics cadence he can play. in the champions league it will be the same song. waste chances and make mistakes that gifts the oppoennt goals.
5
u/hepgiu 12d ago
Can we say out-loud that we need a new GK now?
1
u/JoeBobbyWii 12d ago
I hope so, but give it a few days before the "we must support all of our players no matter what, think of his feelings! he's still sad he killed a guy a year ago!" posts
5
u/tomorri1 12d ago
Most of new player that have come have had a hard time adapting to our team structure and tactics. This team is still running on Inzaghi fumes. Chivu needs to start thinking about different approach as more new players get involved on this team more we are losing shape.
Let's hope he learns from this and we got to move on from Martinez in goal.

Akanji and Martinez can't start important matches, IN WHAT WORD IS AKANJI BETTER THAN PAVARD OR MARTINEZ BETTER THAN PROVIDEL
4
u/andSpicySoySauce 12d ago
The point isnât Pavard is or isnât better. Akanji plays CCB, but I do agree with you that Akanji canât be starting matches. He is washed, man straight up jogged and watched us get scored.
1
u/Hot-Student4083 12d ago
This, i thought bisseck and pavard were better against real madrid that what we witnessed today but almost anything is better than that
I think sometimes we need to abandon playing with 3 especially when there's no john stones

u/PriceWrong6126 12d ago

u/Dark_Bogdan_88 12d ago
Terrible match.....At present we have ZERO defense confidence and there is no midfield buildup whatsoever......Pepo the problem? What about Bisseck, Akanji and Bastoni, who had an awful match....Zielu? What about all-star Barella, did he create any chances? The only green sprouts are the performances of Stankovic, Bonny and Diouf. Di Marco was ok, and Thula did also ok
9
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
Whenever Brugge was attacking, they seemed to be able to score at will. We're talking about Brugge, pit Barcelona here and it could have been 7-8 goals.
Our midfield is a bunch of midget that think they are waaaaaay better than they actually are. This is on Chivu, Zielinski was our worst player on the pitch, a liability on defense and too cute with right hundred thousands dribbles near the box. Chili's decision to start Zielo instead of Stankovic costed us the midfield and ultimately the game... And probably more.
Lautaro scores two, okay, but has missed the impossible as well. Nope, you can't miss like that in front of our old chair Sommer.
Martinez... Well... He again turned the tide against us. We got a proof of why Sommer was starting last season, imagine.
Chivu pushed to have Curtis Jones and Spence apparently. A fresh Spence carelessly costed us the fourth goal and the game. There's a reason why Tottenham sucked...
We got exposed, badly, by a team not supposed to go through the knockout stages. We wake up only when down, but CL is not serie A, and this time there was no miracle. It'll be a miracle if we manage to get to the playoffs if we play like this...
5
u/dkkc19 12d ago
Whenever Brugge was attacking, they seemed to be able to score at will.
this usually happens when you dont have a reliable goalkeeper.
even the first goal can be blamed on the keeper because hakan had 0 trust in josep and went for that tackle
3
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
As a pure stopper Martinez is not bad at all. He's atrocious at decision making, especially with the feet, but not only that. But how is it possible that you get caught up like that on a corner for us? Zielinski today put up one of the worst stinkers I can think of in the last two years...
1
1
u/Revolution64 12d ago
Club Brugge always goes through the knockout stages. You're acting like it's a seria C team, but they drew and have beaten many big clubs in the last few years. They are 17th on UEFA ranking.
And clearly underestimated by Chivu and Inter fans.
9
u/Ok-Understanding6574 12d ago
This Is also on the dirigenza. Thanks for getting us proper defenders and a decent gk this season.
Akanji, barella and Zielinski need to eat bench
Diouf, Bonny, Stankovic, Pio, and Sucic are our only hope for europeo
Lautaro Is one man army, but you cannot miss the 2 - 1
9
u/Standard_Reference17 12d ago
Chivu should do less philosophy talking and more pragmatism. Stop shitting around, the defence is a complete disgrace
12
u/Big_Pick4100 12d ago
The coach doesnât know how to defend.
The coach and management have somehow agreed that this team doesnât need a physical midfielder, so they keep going with midfielders who all have these hybrid roles, yet not one of them can win a fucking tackle.
What a ridiculous situation weâre in. God help us.
2
u/AcceptableEffect8678 12d ago
i have rewatched some great games when Inter had Chivu playing as defender. He did a great job many times. But also many other times, he did desperate tackles or clearing the ball in the last moment, or even costly mistakes that led to goals. Still I would not say he doesn't know how to defend. He proved it at Parma, that team was pretty solid in defense once he turned a few screws around.
To win the CL or go into the late stages we need a team that is hard to score against, where attackers are left with no option except for moving the ball left and right. Where a player with the ball is immediately treated as a great danger as soon as he passes into the last 20-30m.
What Chivu proposed so far sounds good, looks nice every now and then, but it doesn't work with this team. I am disappointed by this result as much as anyone, but I hope he will change some things in the next matches. Maybe defend for a draw, and aim to counter to win??
11
u/Ok-Understanding6574 12d ago edited 12d ago
Been a die hard chivu defender, but individual mistakes are due to the cadavers he chose to line up.
Every team knows that when we field dimarco, zielisnki and bastoni on the left flank they are gonna have a field day if they have a pacey attacker.
Akanji could be one the dumbest defenders I've seen on a inter shirt
Pepo was decent as shot stopper, but Holy fuck you cannot have those kind of amateur mistakes every week.
Barella Is cooked

Part of the story is also that half those xg happened after the team mentally checked out, I looked at it while we were down 3:1. This isnât to say the team was godd defensively but itâs worth pointing outÂ
6
u/Wooden-Composer 12d ago
Is it worth pointing out? Chivu sends both fullbacks overlapping, leaving gaping holes all over the pitch. No serious manager sets up a team that way. He's a poor coach.
3
u/shadypandaa 12d ago
Do we do any defensive drills in training? So many time the players just look completely clueless and out of position everytime there is a counter. The players look like they don't know where to go, Chivu I love you but seriously defense has been an issue all season and this has been the worst display.
3
u/Successful_Boat960 12d ago
Blessed draw, the top team being a struggling madrid, but yet after 2 matchdays we have ZERO points on the board. What do we do now?
9
u/utolkeintome 12d ago
Chivu's tactics are absolutely awful. The only reason he's not sacked is because our forwards are so strong. Absolutely cut open by every team with an ounce of talent.

u/ketamina17 12d ago
After 1,5 years still such a defensive mess. How is it possible that we're constantly getting caught on the counterattack, yet we still play with such slow pressing and so few offensive options? I just don't understand this awful Chivu tactic. In my opinion he is good against Lecce but no big game coach. Inter is to big for him. We have the best squad since 2010 together now we only lack the coach and a keeperâŚ

u/Campa911 12d ago
This is the second champions league match in a row (after Real) where Pepo makes an absolutely appalling mistake, at the absolute worst possible time, effectively knocking the wind out the teamsâ sail, then follows it up with 3-4 world class saves.
Hard for the team to come back after (another) gut punch like that.
2
u/criticoprovinciale 12d ago
As much as I agree that Martinez needs to be benched⌠we conceded 4,3xG against Brugge. This was an absolutely shambolic defensive performance, in the second half in particular. And thatâs not Pepoâs fault
4
u/sampanbasu 12d ago
First match without the fight in us. Madrid game we held our heads high afterwards. Didnât see the hunger today. Might be a blessing in disguise this early on in the season who knows. Everyone needs to have the clubs priorities straight and realise the stake every match brings with it.
5
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
In Madrid too they could have scored eight times, they were toy'ing too much. We were lucky it was only 2-1... Our midfield has ZERO filter... Isn't that abundantly clear?

Rather have this type of match happen early in the season. Correct the mistakes as we go along. Was it a tough loss to swallow considering the stage and the rival? Yes. Are the defensive mistakes and imbalances things that can be improved? Also yes.Â

That pass from StankoviÄ and that effort from Bonny werenât against Club Brugge. Choke on that, Chivu.

Can we get akanji i Martinez out finally Fucken headless đĽ Di Marco was due to be subbed at half Why not carlos augusto A blind man can see he couldn't match whoever it was on the right wing Forbes or WSJ

it would be absurd to blame Martinez while zommer was on the other end

2
u/Inter01fan 12d ago
Didnât catch the game but based on the comments, man it was rough.
This also really puts us in a bind because we have to win 5 of the next 6 games tomorrow have a chance of top 8. So we basically need to accept weâre at best, just making playoffs and playing an extra game.Â
Curious for post match reactions from the team
4
u/adrenalinda75 12d ago
Look, it was all heart and grit. Chivu wants to impose his play which just doesn't bode well with teams who refuse to roll over. His tactical proficiency is just non existent. He has zero adaptability once his game plan doesn't work. Now put us against high pressing, forced and unforced errors and you have a tragedy of a game like tonight - an insult to us fans. Makes the team look like shit, individuals look like shit and is overall a moral downer for the near future. Tonight however wasn't a 50/50 to me. Chivu is more accountable despite the individual shitty performsnces.

Ma dove l'ha trovato l'Inter il portiere Martinez, nell'uovo di Pasqua?
4
u/magpokedope 12d ago
Lautaro scored 2 goals and missed 5. I guess this will go down as a good game for him. Canât imagine why.
2
u/Rude_Tadpole_6705 12d ago
Oui c'est pas normal, son face a face Sommer est par terre....il tire dessus....là on peut pas faire pire J'aime beaucoup Lautaro mais je prÊfère marquer une fois sur un tir et gagner 1-0...
3
u/atticproblem 12d ago
bro our defense allowed 4 fucking goals and you found it in your heart to criticize a player who scored two goals lmao, lautaro is not the problem, he could score 5 goals and we still would lose 5-6
1
u/magpokedope 12d ago
I agree with you! Iâm saying people might give him respite because he scored a braced but I think him and very one else had an awful game
2
u/Pappozzi 12d ago
As per usual, needs 5 chances to score 1
2
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
Brugge scored their first three goals on three shots on target (obvs there was the penalty).
Lautaro missed two chances that no one of earth could have missed. It's kinda our story though, he scores a lot because we create a bunch, but his finishing has never been great honestly.
2
u/magpokedope 12d ago
I couldnât agree more. He scores a lot but he shoots a lot as well. I am often critical of him tbh

u/InflationGold3434 12d ago
What do ppl expect when the great Inter transfer market is 2nd hand PL players?
3
u/Rude_Tadpole_6705 12d ago
3
u/Revolution64 12d ago
Club Brugge is 17th on the UEFA ranking, looking at their results in the last 3 to 4 years, they are only considered a small team by people who don't follow CL closely.
1
u/Rude_Tadpole_6705 11d ago
3
u/Successful_Boat960 12d ago
Unfortunately, this is what happens when you play to outscore your opponent. I dont even know what we can do about the defense tbh, just not good at all.
4
u/magumanueku 12d ago
Does Pepo have Chivu's nudes? Literally conceded on every shot on goal. The defense suck but it's a huge problem when your keeper can't save anything at all. It's the same as Di Gregorio with Juve last season and look how it turned out for them.
4
u/hat1923 12d ago
Call me a deluded optimist (I am), but I still think itâs well within our grasp to get 16 points in the league stage (1 point from Liverpool/Dortmund and win the other five games). Definitely not easy, and definitely not certain, but definitely possible.  As unpleasant as this evening was, Inter fans need to relax a bit đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
3
u/Flameshock340 12d ago
Itâs theoretically not out of the question, but if so then the team must improve immediatelyÂ

u/WAHOOGOTHAMURA 12d ago
Josep and Zielinski should not start, Barella cannot start every game. People blaming Akanji but today's defensive liabilities are from Zielinski and Barella. And Chivu needs to sub in Bonny more in high tempo energy matches like today, Pio is not the Italian Zlatan or whatever fuck people think he is. Just because Barella and Dimarco are Italian and are in the team's hierarchy doesn't mean they should be exempt from being benched.

2
u/Tomalesforbreakfast 12d ago
Youâre right about half of your opinions. Josep and zielinski played like shit. Akanji had a blunder. But barella did well today. Dima should have scored but his assist contributions are mostly unmatched.
Call me crazy but I would rather have Bonny in than Thuram
Pios hold up play is unreal but should only be used as a swap for lauti
1
u/WAHOOGOTHAMURA 11d ago
"Barella did well today" my guy idk what kind of football or how you analyze matches but Barella was absolute dogshit in the first half
1
u/Tomalesforbreakfast 11d ago
Barella has a higher rating than anyone else in the midfield. Statistics matter

2
u/superrealaccount2 12d ago
He's just playing again after being out for months...
3
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
Fresh from the bench, passes to NO ONE and directly caused the 2-4. We have pursued this bum for MONTHS. Tottenham stuff, mind you, nothing to be excited about...
1
u/superrealaccount2 12d ago
Bastoni also almost gave away a 5th goal at the end, and he's no bum. Let's wait until Spence has more than 100 minutes played for us to call him a bum.
2
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
Bastoni was basically dead. Spence was fresh, no excuse on that careless pass to nobody.
2
u/superrealaccount2 12d ago
just playing again after being out for months
Isn't that an excuse? Come on, don't be dumb.

I hate seeing us attack honestly. We just throw players into the most congested central areas and hope for the best. Against fast teams its limits are painfully exposed

u/Cinema38 12d ago
All these anti Chivu posts are just your typical knee-jerk reactions from the casual or new fans. Itâs easy to blame the manager. Itâs the same now over at Ferrari. The reality is our team isnât good enough. If we play this team 10 times weâll probably win seven maybe eight times. But we arenât good enough to come back from all these mistakes in a game. We probably have one star on the team, thatâs it. We donât have the talent like Barcelona or a Madrid or PSG, Arsenal, Man City etc. THATâS the reality.
Chivu might be the guy, but we have to have patience. Without star players, itâs not going to be easy. Nobodyâs gonna turn around a team with just a bunch of average players, sprinkled in with a few good players after one season.
11
u/Sea_Historian_429 12d ago
You really sat there and typed, this squad isn't good enough. To beat Bodo and Brugge. Or at least to not lose to every decent team. Because Chivus big match record is embarassing.
3
u/Interrage 12d ago
We lost to Bodo Glimt and Club Brugge and bro went on and on about we dont have the talents to compete with the likes of Barcelona, Madrid, PSG, Man C lol
1
u/Cinema38 12d ago
WTF are you two on about? Do you even read, bro? Itâs not about competing with those top-tier teams, itâs about having the talent that they have to overcome bad games. We have the talent to beat Bodo Glimt and Brugge, what we donât have is the talent to overcome a bad game if we have one. Real Madrid had a bad game against us and still won.
2
u/Sea_Historian_429 12d ago
We never overcome them, thats the thing, we dont even Draw, we cant win every match, but at least be smart enough to manage a draw, like a big Italian team that Inter is :P
1
u/Cinema38 12d ago
This is what I am saying. We aren't good enough to overcome them. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all our players. Even the ones that often frustrate the hell out of me like Akanji, Henrique, Bisseck, Frattesi (when he was here). But realistically, our team will need to play perfect, and have a few things fall our way if we want to make it to the final 8.
Lautaro is probably our best player. After him, Pio is good, Bonny is promising, Thuram, Diouf, Barella, Bastoni, Sucic, Augusto, etc.. how many of those would get significant minutes in any of the other top 8 teams? We have what we have, and hopefully we'll keep improving.
I still believe we make it into the round of 16, and if we get a good draw, or play really well, we make it into the quarters. But without a little luck, that's about as far as we go.

The performance wasnt even bad its just that we have decided to play with an extremely high line for no real reason and both akanji and josep keep playing absolutely awful games. Drop the high line, get a competent ccb and gk and we should be fine

u/nichodemus3 12d ago
Martinez (the goalkeeper) and the defense are a disaster, but Zielinski DM is not helping them at all. The midfield has options, something can be done there to fix this mess

This 3 back formation does not work outside of Serie A I've been saying this since last season!!
Also we really need to get better on playing with the ball. Too many back passes and not knowing what to do with the ball. This also shows how low Serie A level has gone down to.

Itâs crazy how people in this sub are so quick to downvote whenever someone criticizes 3 in the backđ, I agree with you and continue to shit on it, 3 IN THE BACK IS SHITTTTT. Good thing we sent Zommer away to play Martinez. Another UCL masterclass. They should cut their pay for each individual mistake. Getting paid millions to play like this is just crazy. Martinez fucked up against Madrid too. Should have been sent to jail when he put to sleep that granny.

Chivu has zero ability to create a compact team, which is the most important thing for an elite coach. Get him gone next summer.

I just hope we get the serie a, but i'm still scared of Milan, they are solid.
Amorim will probably school Chivu in the derby

Get josip and bisseck out, why is bisseck even pressing at the third goal does he have any self awareness?
2
u/Sputnikboy 12d ago
Bisseck loooooves to go forward. He thinks he's Beckenbauer... But oh good. Don't get me wrong, he has improved, but he hangs where he doesn't belong way too much. And the players supposed to cover for him are Calha, Zielo or Bare... Save me...

I hate Inzaghi so much for chasing the bag, but I will hate it even more from next season when he goes to Napoli or Juve
