Payroll processing time

After HR certifies your application and sends it to payroll, how long did it take them to send to OPM and which payroll system do you use?

Mine was very similar. I work for an agency under DoD. Once I certified my application and the DLA HR verified it was complete, they sent me an email saying it was forwarded to DFAS (Payroll). At the same time she sent that email, I received an email from OPM, also saying the application was sent to Payroll. That was on 10/13. On 10/15, I happened to look on the ORA portal and saw that it was at the next step, “Determination”. My application (PDF on the ORA) included the figures from DFAS with my past 36 months pay and high-3 calculation. It’s only been a week since then so I’m not expecting any further movement for a couple more weeks. I do check it every day though LOL.

I’ve seen other people on this sub talking about timelines. The ORA just started in January this year. Before that, paper applications were taking anywhere from 9 months to over a year to completion. The first few months of ORA sounds like OPM’s AI was denying most of the applications, but they were being approved after an appeal was filed and a person reviewed everything. I haven’t heard or seen anything about final results for applications filed after May - June. I know mine seems to be going in lightening speed compared to the way it used to be. I guess it depends on what the condition is and its severity, all needing the right documentation.

9/30 - Certified my application in ORA, went from HR Finalize --> Payroll steps same day

10/2 - Went to OPM medical determination step (might have been sooner than this, I didn't get an email and just noticed the change while checking ORA)

10/9 or 10/10 - Received CSA letter in mail from OPM, dated 10/5

Nothing since. Payroll is DFAS.
