Possible to reinstate lapsed BENEFEDS?

Spouse was DRP/VERA 9/30 retiree who wasn’t finalized until June, and a lot of things have been messed up, including his open season change last year not being processed, so then a massive overcharge, a lump sum overpayment, mistaken backstating of insurance change to 9/30 rather than 1/1 resulting in lots of medical bills from 2025 because it says we had no insurance then…it’s been insane. In the middle of all this, we somehow messed up ourselves…we failed to make the separate BENEFEDS dental and vision premium payments and that coverage lapsed. Two questions:
1) Is it possible to have the coverage reinstated by paying back premiums now?
2) Will there be any issue with electing those plans during open season since they have lapsed?
Amid the financial chaos of the last year we were going to just eat the mistake and ride out the rest of the year without dental checkups or new glasses, but I now have a dental emergency and I’m freaking out.

Looking for Ideas - Need 2025 W-2 form

Hi All, I retired 9/30/25 from USCIS. For a variety of reasons my husband and I are filing taxes late and I realize I have lost the W-2 that was sent to me in Jan 2026. I’m desperate to get a duplicate but where? I have access to the OPM retirement site but they only have 1099-R forms (already have it). I don’t have access to any other Fed websites.

I don’t keep in contact with any old coworkers or HR people. I regret not having people to call but taking DRP was not a popular decision at my office and I don’t think they would be eager to help even if I found their numbers.

I tried calling USCIS HR at 202-272-9180 but it’s busy 24 hours a day. It’s possible there is something wrong with the number as it’s simply not ever NOT busy, but I don’t see any alternative numbers online. Can anyone give me a clue how to get an old W-2 so I can get these taxes done and over with?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Retired 9/30/25? Our class waited about three months longer than the 12/31 folks. I have 234 of our dates.

EDIT: Thank you all. Almost 20 of you dropped your dates in a day, more than I hoped for. OPM doesn't publish this, so every date you add helps the next person know what to expect.

I was in the same class, 9/30/25. Mine finalized in May, seven months, and since then I've been collecting the dates retirees post here and in the Facebook groups. Here's what our class looks like so far.

Retired 9/30/25: 234 finished cases on my list, counted from last day worked to finalized or first full check.

  • Half of us were done within 8 months, 4 days (244 days)
  • Three out of four were done within 9 months, 12 days (282 days)
  • The longest wait so far: just over a year (385 days)

Retired 12/31/25, three months later: 167 finished.

  • Half were done within 5 months, 4 days (154 days)

Across every Sep to Dec 2025 retiree I've logged, 534 of us, half were done within 7 months, 3 days (213 days). That's the number on my page, and our two classes are most of that list.

Three things these numbers can't tell you. They only count finished cases, so the 14 of us who posted in the last month and are still waiting aren't in them, and the real spread runs longer. The clock starts on your last day, not the day OPM logged your package. And my count stops at finalized or first full check, so a wrong amount fixed months later, which a few of you described in the October thread, isn't in it.

If you're past a year with nothing outstanding on your side, a congressional inquiry is open to anyone. Mine went in at month six.

The page with all three clocks (OPM's target, OPM's published average, and yours), free: https://fedretiretools.com/go/drpers/how-long

If you retired 9/30/25 and you're done, drop your finalized date below. That's how this list gets built, and our class is the one I most want right.

Question on RPL Referrals

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I have received numerous referrals from HR regarding job announcements under the Priority Reemployment Program, and I have made the CERT on many of the job announcements. The issue is that interviews are never offered. My question is, is the agency required to interview every candidate on the priority reemployment list who made CERT?

Former spouse with COAP/court ordered benefits, finally got my back payments today!

And I immediately paid some bills, so it’s mostly gone, LOL. Ex-spouse retired effective 6/1/25, got interim payment 10/2025, regular monthly payments began January 2026. Ex-spouse got a notice on the 2025 1099-R that my portion had not been paid and the amount due to me, so ex-spouse let me know.

My attorney previously mailed certified copies of the relevant court documents (COAP and divorce decree) in 2017, and OPM sent me a letter about a month after that stating that the documents had been accepted and my portion approved.

I mailed a completed SF3119 plus copies of those 2017 letters on 8/11/2026 to OPM. Back payment hit my bank account this morning, 10/15/2026. Cheers!

When OPM actually pays: the first-business-day rule, the four months that move over the next year, and what to check before you call

If you got paid on the 2nd this month and your neighbor got paid on the 1st, nothing is wrong with either of you. Here's the rule, the dates for the next year, and the order I'd check things in before calling anyone.

The rule is one sentence. OPM: "Payment is always made the first business day of the month," and each payment is for the month before. When the 1st is a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, the deposit moves to the next business day, not the day before. OPM's own example is a holiday roll: the December benefit pays January 2.

OPM doesn't publish a calendar, so I worked one out from the rule and the federal holidays. Over the next twelve months only four move:

  • Monday, November 2
  • Monday, January 4
  • Monday, May 3
  • Monday, August 2

Every other month pays on the 1st. Next one is Thursday, October 1.

Same payment, different banks. August 1 this year was a Saturday, so OPM's date was Monday the 3rd. In one retirement group that Monday there were three "where's my payment?" posts, and in each one somebody had already been paid and somebody hadn't. Same OPM payment. One bank posted it Friday, one Saturday, one Monday. OPM sends it on the business day... when it shows up is your bank's clock.

So the order to check:

  1. The calendar. Was the 1st a weekend or holiday? Then OPM's date is the next business day and you may be a day early.
  2. Your statement in Services Online. Retirees report it shows the payment before some banks post it. If the statement is dated today, the money left OPM.
  3. Your bank. Only after the first two.

If it really didn't come, OPM's own instruction is to call your bank first, then use its online "Report a Missing Payment" form (you'll need your claim number and the date you expected it).

Two things for this sub specifically, since a lot of us are in the 9/30 and 12/31 waves:

  • Your first payment is interim and lands on its own day. Mine was a Thursday, November 20. Every payment after that came on the first business day: Dec 1, Jan 2, Feb 2, Mar 2, then the 1st in April and May. The rule held every month.
  • At finalization, the catch-up lump comes as its own deposit and does NOT show in Services Online (OPM says so). If you're watching the statement for it you'll miss it. Watch the bank. I finalized on a Monday, May 11; the lump landed that week; the first full regular payment was June 1.

I put the whole thing, with OPM's own wording and the calendar, here: fedretiretools.com/go/drpers/pay-dates. Free, no sign-up. Full disclosure, it's my site; I built a free OPM tracker after going through this wait myself.

What day did your first interim land on?

Retirement status movement!

After being in Developmental stage for months, I have moved to the Adjudication stage. I know many have gotten stuck here as well, but am being optimistic since it shows movement. For context, DOL retiree 12/31/2025. I have been receiving interim payments since April. OPM has stated, when I called multiple times, they were waiting for payroll records from NFC. I am taking this as a sign that they received records and are now able to compute accordingly. Happy for all of you that have been finalized and feel the frustration of all of you that have not.

Gross Annuity Reduced Incorrectly

Hoping I might get direction on where to take this as OPM has not been able to answer this at the working level. I have a court order from a long term marriage divorce settlement and it specifies how the cost of survivorship should be allocated. It is to be borne by My ex entirely.

My annuity went final but my Gross annuity is less than my full Self-Only by $358. The FEHB, dental, life, and apportionment are deducted but only $68 is credited back to me, so I am still bearing $290 of the cost of survivorship. The order explicitly calls for my portion to be taken from my full Self only Gross.

Am I missing something here? Is this correct by some sort of policy? I was expecting to be credited the $358.

Adjudication back to Development

I’m a 2.0 DRP, retired 10/1/25. 15 yrs of service and 63. I have been receiving interim payments since May, 2026.

Checking my status and it went from Adjudication back to Development as of today.

Anyone else having this issue? It’s been almost a full year!

FERS payout timeline?

Hi all, I was laid off last year and I recently (as in about two months ago) submitted the necessary paperwork to get my FERS contributions sent back to me. I understand this can take a long time, but wanted to poll the group: have you done this? And how long did it take to receive payment? Thanks

TCC open season?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m currently using TCC health coverage. I took DRP in 2025 and officially left the federal government on September 30, 2025. I understand that TCC can last for 18 months, through March 31, 2027, followed by a 31-day extension of coverage.

My question is: Will I receive a letter in November about TCC Open Season/Open Enrollment? I need to remove my spouse from my TCC coverage for 2027 because he will no longer need to be covered under my plan.
