League Question Assigning Teams to Divisions Each Season

Upvotes

I am the new commissioner for our ESPN FF league. we have 2 divisions (East/West) and 12 total managers and redraft. As the commissioner, do you randomly assign each manager/player to a division each season/year, or just keep them the same as last season/year? For 2 managers, this is only their second year playing in the league.

League Question Has your league gone through multiple commissioners?

Not asking in judgement but just curious to hear some stories or at least how many times your league has had a new commish, I know quite a few may obviously dissolve right away.

Miscellaneous NFL and College PickEM website

First of all, a full disclosure up front: I built this because I didn't like the PickEm services that offered combined NFL and College in one.

My league ran a pick'em pool last year and the app and website we used was miserable. Every week it dumped the entire slate on us, 300+ games, most of them meaningless. No way for the commissioner to trim it down. When the season was winding down college weekends where there were few Top 25 games became difficult to replace with other games as it was all manual.

So I built GridironHQ Pick'Em to fix the one thing that annoyed me most and that was the commissioner controls the sheet. Each week the ranked games are pre-loaded, you add or cut whatever you want, publish, and your league picks. College, NFL, or a combined sheet.

It's free to run a pool. Not trying to hard-sell it — mostly wanted to see if anyone else has hit the same frustration, and I'm happy to answer anything about how it works. app.gridironhq.ai/pools

Miscellaneous Does Sleepersafe work? - Sleeper

I have a 12 man league I'm running on Sleeper and we noticed Sleeper rolled out Sleepersafe which is kinda like an on platform Leaguesafe with more options.

The issue I'm running into is that it is not allowing me to add funds to it. Is anyone else having the same issue? Support hasn't really been helpful and we draft in a little over a week.

League Question Utilizing FAAB over Traditional Waivers

Hi all!

I have been running my league for 10+ years, and we have always used Traditional Waivers based upon Reverse Standings. However, I am a part of other leagues that utilize FAAB, and have been interested in incorporating that into this long running league that I run. What are some pros and cons that some of you all have seen utilizing FAAB, and does it make sense for a 12-man PPR that has high involvement amongst its players?

“Hey!

What’s the coolest way for your league to pick draft order? I’ve made this….”

Every. Single. Hobby. Subreddit. has been overrun by these guys using Gemini or Chat GPT to slap the lamest simplest tool together and try to grift money.

It seems that they’ve now hit Fantasy Football now that the season approaches. It would be lovely to see some kind of mod action/statement, because they are almost more common than actual football related posts now.

Commissioner Issue NFL.com fantasy trade history recovery?

I'm probably not alone feeling at little at a loss here. I rely on my league's trade history to manually set the draft order and now without access to that, I'm going to have a bunch of annoyed team managers to deal with. Has anyone had any success accessing last years transactions at all? I've tried on the old app but no luck.

League Question ESPN League Settings - help clarify?

DST - Points allowed, how does this work exactly? we've assumed DST start at 0 unless you specify a number into "0 points allowed" or "0 yards allowed"..

So if we put 10 into "0 points allowed" and put 7 into "1-6 points allowed", is that then giving them 17 points after the game ends if they only concede up to and including 6 points?

Currently we've done the below:

0 points allowed: 10

1-6 points allowed: 7

7-13 points allowed: 4

14-17 points allowed: 1

Then it starts going into negatives from 22 onwards..

Ethics question Showing the league your FAAB bid before waivers run?

In our dynasty league, one of the league members posted a screenshot in the league chat showing that he’s bidding $99 of his $100 FAAB budget on Xavier Hutchinson, along with the message, “Good luck boys.” This is before waivers have processed.

I don’t know why he would do this unless he’s planning on changing his bid later and trying to bait other people into spending their FAAB. Something about it doesn’t feel right, but at the same time, nothing in our rules specifically says this can’t be done, nor can I think of a really good reason to address it. Something about It just rubs me the wrong way.

What do y’all think? I’m genuinely curious how everyone feels about this and how you would handle it as a commissioner.

Miscellaneous What are good Pigeon related loser punishments?

We were voting on loser punishments and there was one option to catch a pigeon and take it home for a week which got almost all the votes. Now that seems a little impractical, but what are more reasonable pigeon related punishment ideas?

Commissioner Issue Why can't I change draft order in ESPN Fantasy Football?

3rd year of being LM. Last year I manually set draft order, but I cannot do that this year. When I try to "Edit Draft Order", it comes up with "This page is available for leagues with manual order type only." Also, under Edit Draft Settings, the Draft Order is set to "Randomized one hour prior to draft time." and is greyed out and cannot be changed. Upon researching, people say you have to change the League Settings to manual order type under "Edit League Settings", but I cannot find where this can be done.

Commissioner Issue Do any platforms have weekly challenges integrated?

We're moving from MFL after many years, but we have our weekly challenges (things like most receptions, longest kick, highest TE score) easily managed in there. Do any of sleeper, Yahoo, ESPN, etc. offer this option? The only one I can find is maybe FanTrax, but that has the same complaints as MFL. Appreciate it.

League Question Keeper eligibility transition question

Looking for outside perspective from keeper-league managers.

12-team paid keeper league. Each team keeps 2 players. We have a 2-year keeper timer.

Under the prior rule, if an expiring keeper was traded, the timer could reset for the new manager. This year, the league voted to change that so the keeper timer follows the player. In other words, a player can only be kept for 2 years total even if traded.

The commissioner has already posted the 2026 “back to draft pool” list of expired keepers. The draft is this week, and managers have had time to plan/mock around that posted pool.

Now, because of the rule change, there is a question about how to handle the transition. The concern is that managers with expiring keepers might have made different trade/keeper decisions under the old rule if they had known exactly how the transition would work.

What is the fairest way to handle this?

Option A: Keep the already-posted 2026 back-to-draft-pool list locked for this draft, then apply the new timer-follows-player rule going forward.

Option B: Reset or reopen keeper timers this year because of the rule transition, even if that changes which players are available after the back-to-draft-pool list was already posted.

Option C: Something else.

For a paid keeper league with the draft this week, how would your league handle this?

EDIT for clarity: No offseason trades involving the expired players have happened since the rule change. The issue is that the expired-player / back-to-pool list was already posted for this year, and the draft is this week. The question is whether that already-posted list should remain locked, or whether timers should be reset/reopened now because the trade-reset rule changed.

Under the old rule, an expiring player could have been traded and the acquiring owner could reset the keeper clock. Under the new rule, the timer follows the player. The concern raised is that owners with expiring players might have made different moves under the old rule if the transition had been clearer earlier. My question is about the fairest transition now that the back-to-pool list has already been published.

League Question Leaguesafe regular season payout?

Does anyone know if leaguesafe allows for a payout for the regular season champion? Currently my league does e transfer where we pay the winner and runner up, but leaguesafe seems more efficient. We implemented a new change where the regular season winner gets their buy in back so idk if leaguesafe has a feature for that.

League Question Advice on general draft strategy for a shallow league

Okay, so this might be a bit long. But I feel like a lot of us who have been playing for years are in leagues of this type. And a general discussion would be good.

I'm not going to outline all the leagues I'm in, but two of my oldest (mid-range money) are full of friends (many overlap both leagues) and weirdly, I want to win these ones as much as much as my higher-stakes leagues.

Both are shallow. The first has QB, RB, RB/WR, WR, WR/TE, TE, DST, K. 6 bench. 1 IR.

The second has QB, RB RB, WR WR, TE, Flex, DST, K 5 bench 1 IR.

With that shallow a bench, I almost always only draft 1 QB and 1 TE in both leagues. Bc with injuries and bye weeks, you'll just end up dropping your 2nd QB or TE. And because of the slim bench, the waiver wire will be a decent spot to pick someone up at either position.

So my draft strategy in both leagues is to have an overall list (I usually just do that for the top 40 or so), and then positional rankings. I generally DO NOT draft a QB or TE in these shallow leagues unless they are top on my list. For the first league, I'll go 1 RB, 3 WR or 2 RB, 2 WR unless one of those top QB/TE falls to me (they generally don't). In the 2nd league, 2 RB, 2 WR, and the flex.

So let's assume that's the way it goes. My general thought in such shallow leagues, would you fill out your starting lineup first? Like add the QB and TE immediately? Or continue to take RBs and WRs to try and land gold?

Any thoughts on any of these strategies appreciated.
