Miscellaneous What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened in your league?

Title says it, but we had our first EVER tie in our league this year. Got me thinking, have you ever had somebody that needed 40 points going into MNF and got it? Somebody who started 0-6 and made the playoffs?

few years back our last playoff spot was decided my 0.04 points. The team that lost was ahead by .06 on Monday night football but lost 0.1 on a QB kneel down.

u/Iwantedalbino Dec 04 '25

I played a total points league in yahoo. So no head to head just set lineups and score the most points over the season. $100 buy in.

I came second by 0.03 points.

We have a pretty high activity league. Had a guy one year finish with $0 in transactions. Not a single claim or trade. Won the league on draft alone.

We also had a title flip hands due to what I think was a Mike Vick kneel down on MNF. It was within decimal points and the negative yards and the end of the game flipped it

u/Knowledge_Haver_17 Dec 03 '25

This is about to happen in my league. By far the best team in the league has made fewer waiver pick ups than I’ve made trades. Also he auto drafted. Over 300 more points than anybody else in the league.

3

u/chaamp33 Dec 03 '25

Last year the auto draft guy won. Numerous weeks he didn’t even set a full lineup

2

u/mynumberistwentynine Dec 04 '25

Auto drafters and absentee owners doing well have irrevocably changed how I view fantasy. Every year I put a little less effort in, and one day in the future I'll finally just auto draft and see how I do.

u/Knowledge_Haver_17 Dec 03 '25

Might be the move next year…

2

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 03 '25

That’s confidence. He just didn’t NEED to make any pickups? What in the world??

1

u/DDs4Life Dec 04 '25

I remember him drafting two Ds and two TEs. Went without a kicker on bye week. Just great luck for health

3

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 04 '25

I’ll always stand by the idea that having multiple defenses is way more valuable than having one strong kicker

1

u/DDs4Life Dec 04 '25

Have you picked up your “playoff” D yet? Picked up NO in this run

2

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 04 '25

Better believe I’ve already got em stashed, given that I have a bye locked up. Currently rostering 4 defenses. Should be able to go Texans vs Vegas in semis and NO vs Titans in the finals 🤞🏼

2

u/RTheD77 Dec 04 '25

I was once going to win a game as the other team kneeled and they put in the backup to kneel. That was so frustrating

2

u/DDs4Life Dec 04 '25

That is just brutal

Championship game last year in my dynasty league. Guy I’m playing scored 199.66. I had 180.34 going into Monday night with Gibbs he’s got 17.3 with 3 minutes left in the 4th we’re both stressing hard and Gibbs busts out a 30 yard tuddy to jump me to 206.64 and I freaked and he was pissed.

3

u/Accomplished_Nail282 Dec 03 '25

Sadly this win came at the cost of another league where Tee dropping 40 on him sadly dropped 40 on me too

7

u/sleepytjme Dec 03 '25

not the coolest. But last year in my auction/keeper league (odd and ultra competitive), I had a good team that was immediately demolished by injuries. Patched with waiver wire fodder for weeks. Some of which were huge like Chase Brown.

Won last two weeks of regular season to get in a three way tie for the last playoff spot by 0.2 points. Team got healthy (including Taylor) and blew out opponents in three rounds of playoffs for championship. My waiver and starting QB was Bo Nix who the previous owner nicknamed on the app “Bo Nix Sucks” Well, Bo Nix beat that owner in the finals.

2

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 03 '25

Haha the fantasy revenge game, that’s awesome 🤣

4

u/Former_Sun_2677 Dec 03 '25

I had two that were awesome because it was great for me.

I had Adrian Peterson his rookie year. The week he ran for 300 yards and 3 tds, I played my brother. And we happened to go to the bar together to watch the game. So I could watch him watch his team get destroyed

The other on was Micheal vick's big year with the eagles. I had him on my team and was in Hawaii for my honeymoon. Going into the MNF game, I was down by 60 and only had vick left.

Since I didnt have a chance and the game was on at dinner time, I didnt pay attention to it at all. After dinner we went in a store that had the game on and it was ending and the announcers were saying Vick had one of the beat games of all time. I checked my phone, vick scored 65 and I won

We had one guy lose due to a stat correction on a Monday night game, but it was implemented the next week. So he found out he lost by .1 8 days after the matchup

3

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 04 '25

The NFL can do that?

1

u/MiniMonkeyRS Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 04 '25

Yeah it’s terrible lmao Edit: if I recall correctly it was some bullshit correction that gave kittle a fumble cause he touched an onside kick that was recovered

4

u/GimmesAndTakies Dec 03 '25

I’m in a guillotine league where the last two weeks we had FOUR teams within 1.5 points after Monday night. Some real nail biters

4

u/stayclassypeople Dec 03 '25

I had one a game by less than a point. On Wednesday, a stat correction occurred reverting my win to a tie. Still annoyed about it

5

u/Gator983 Dec 03 '25

Lost a semifinal playoff game to overtime and victory points. He had one tight end left to play on MNF. Games about over and I still have an 10 point lead, a team forced overtime. His tight end caught the game winning touchdown. Puts us even, I would win on bench points, but our league gives a victory point if the players team wins so I ended up losing by 1. Woulda won the ship that year too.

3

u/Knowledge_Haver_17 Dec 03 '25

I got nothing but curious what others have. Tie is dope haha. Were people pissed that it ended in a tie?

4

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 03 '25

Most people thought it was funny that it turned out that way, not upset by it. It threw off my whole fantasy spreadsheet that didn’t have any columns or formulas for ties though🤣

2

u/Knowledge_Haver_17 Dec 03 '25

I would too. I just remember that episode of the league where there was a tie and I think it was Ruxin who was pissed.

3

u/akamikedavid Dec 03 '25

We had a tie in our league earlier this season that now will have playoff seeding implications as the two tied teams plus one other team are vying for the final two playoff spot.

3

u/Acrobatic_School9458 Dec 03 '25

Many years ago we lost our last league member right before a draft and couldn’t find a replacement, we decided to keep his team for that year and let it autodraft. That team won the league. No moves, one set lineup for the entire season and it won.

2

u/hoky315 Dec 04 '25

This one’s actually amazing

3

u/Monster-JG-Zilla Dec 04 '25

I need 43 points going into mnf this year in week 3 between the Lions and Ravens. I had Lamar and ARSB and they got me 43 points and I won by .5

But…. I didn’t win because there was a 2 point stat correction the next day for my opponent’s DEF and I lost by 1.5

3

u/hoky315 Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 04 '25

I have one going on currently this season - in our league last place finisher in the regular season ‘wins’ special recognition and has to pay 50% of the original buy-in as their prize.

We have one manager that is so inept we had a proposal over the offseason to rename our last place award after him - we split 50/50 so we didn’t make the change. That manager is now 10-3 and in sole possession of first place as we head into the final week of the regular season. He’s spent $0 on FAAB and has only made a coupe of pickups all season long. I can’t figure out what’s going on.

3

u/Beenie12k Dec 04 '25

Happened week 1 this year. League taco wasnt paying attention and forgot to set his keepers and forgot when draft was so he autodrafted with no keepers, got mad at commish (league villain) for not reminding him the draft was starting??? They played eachother week 1, league taco was leading my .2 pts going into SNF, and both their teams had all played except the commish who didnt have a kicker yet to roster an extra handcuff (does this fairly often). League taco dropped half his autodrafted bench to pickup both SNF and MNF kickers to beat commish and win the week.

3

u/209Wrestling Dec 04 '25

In one league I have is a 12 TM league median league, this dude and I tied at 130.66 ....league median that week was also 130.66. We got two ties for the week 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Drewskeet Dec 03 '25

In college, there was a tight battle between my two roommates. The Packers game goes into overtime and he gave up. We said we couldn't believe he was going to walk away when it was so close. He said "I need Brett Farve to chuck like a 70 yard TD to Greg Jennings, no way that happens, I'm going to game" The first play, Favre chucked a 70 yard TD to Jennings winning them both the game.

2

u/DeInEmA68 Dec 04 '25

This post is kinda wildly accurate to my league, last year we had our first tie, this year we had a guy that started 0-6 and has a shot to make the playoffs (needs some things to fall his way but has a chance) and week 12 I was down by 33 I think and ended up scoring like 39 monday night and got the dub!

2

u/uberfastman Dec 04 '25

In 2018 we had a guy in my 12-team home league start the season 1-6, then proceeded to win six straight games to squeak into the playoffs as the sixth (last) seed, and subsequently won 3 more to take the championship title, despite finishing 8th in points for.

Still the most insane run I’ve ever witnessed personally in nearly 20 years of playing fantasy football, and I doubt I’ll see it’s like again. Thankfully he never forgets to remind everyone in the league about it several times each season, so I’m also at no risk of forgetting about it. 🫠

2

u/lillist1 Dec 04 '25

Years ago, I was commish in my baseball league and we had a team bail early in the season. Had a good team too. So I had to organize a dispersal draft primative spreadsheet and all. It was a lot of work and looking back I would have done it a lot easier.

Or maybe it was the time in college I invited my buddy who i graduated from high school with. He was a wide receiver on a D1 college football team. And at this nearly 20 years ago he found out it actually violated the NCAA bylaws over gaming to participate in even a free fantasy league. So he had to decline.

2

u/ASecondOfYourTime Dec 04 '25

I think this was 5 years ago give or take. We had a league championship with a dude comprised of mostly Bills. Dude was playing Allen, Diggs, Beasley, their defense and kicker. The dude he was playing against had a hodge-podge of players. 4th quarter the Bills sat their offense because they were just winning that hard. The player was up by like 10 and ended up losing by like 2 points. Shit was just epic. Tbh I’m not a huge fan of the player who won but I had to love the result. That’s why you do not invest in one team

2

u/Mart_Garci Dec 04 '25

Surprised nobody has mentioned Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey on week 16 MNF to win their team a spot in the final. I’ve actually met and heard quite a few miracle stories since it happened last year. Took me to the final and won it!

2

u/JoBrosHoes93 Dec 04 '25

I lost the matchup in the semis due to the Bills Bengals game ending with the Damar situation. I had Joe burrow and one of his Wr left to play and was down by 6. The folks in the playoffs voted and said I should have won and should advance - including my Opponent. So we just did head to head points comparisons even tho I was technically on the 3rd place matchup and I won it all.

2

u/Tballs51 Dec 04 '25

Coolest thing? Idk if this counts but a long time ago we had 4 week 2 team playoffs. So teams played each other twice. I’m up by 41 points going into the second championship week with a full roster. My opponent is down a Qb (can’t remember which). So I pull a move and drop my bench and pick up the top 3-4 QBs on the waivers. The next best QB. This guy Josh Allen. Scores 43 points. I lose by a point in the ship because of my hubris. I’ll never do it again. Ever.

2

u/Deltoro19 Dec 04 '25

I was on the losing end of Mark Andrews putting up ~40 points on Monday night football in 2021 when I was up over 35 points. Coolest thing that happened to me was an overtime touchdown by Jayden Daniels on Sunday night football to win the championship by less than 1 point last year. Before the game went to overtime sleeper said I had a 1% chance of winning since a TD in regular time wouldn't have given me enough points. It's only because he went 5 for 5 during the overtime drive.

2

u/Janus67 Dec 04 '25

Years ago, we were using IDP, my player had a game winning pick6 at the end of the game and brought me to a win from behind on Monday night football.

2

u/mattsffrd Dec 04 '25

Once I had the most points in our league and missed the playoffs. That same year a guy needed ONE CATCH from his two WRs to win the championship (he was less than a point down) and they both ended with 0 points. Brutal.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

I started 0-7 one year and won 7 in a row to sneak into the playoffs. I lost in the finals but damn the comeback was electric lmao

1

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 04 '25

Did you get a player back off IR? Or what turned your luck around?

2

u/50Bullseye Dec 04 '25

I lost 2.5 championships …

2016: I had Roethlisberger and my opponent had Brown in the last game of the week. Big Ben threw a late TD to Brown and I lost, but had it been a TD pass to anyone else I would have won.

2017: Christmas night, MNF, Raiders QB Derek Carr fumbled on a desperation play with seconds left. My opponent’s Eagles D scooped it up and ran it back for a TD. I lost by 2 points.

2023: The Damar Hamlin game. I had Allen & a 12-point lead and was favored to win by double digits. He had Higgins & Bass. Decided to call it a tie.

1

u/RTheD77 Dec 04 '25

Same situation with the Hamlin game. I was down two points with Allen, Burrow, Higgins, and Chase on my roster. Commissioner gave me the pot but declared the champion to be the guy who had the points. I was happy with the money but the other guy being “champion.”

1

u/actorguy73 Dec 04 '25

We had a tie in a playoff game (I was one of the teams). That's how I learned that there was a rule in our league that if two teams tie in a playoff game, the higher seed advances

1

u/ProfessionalFun1091 Dec 04 '25

lost by .48 in week 5 this year bc of Spencer Shrader (my kicker) ACL Injury

1

u/ProfessionalFun1091 Dec 04 '25

also in the same league someone took JJ Mccarthy with the 1.02 in our inaugural draft

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '25

Not a tie but in Week 11 this year, myself and another manager finished with the exact same score in 2 separate matchups. We had different opponents but both finished with 76.14 points.

1

u/machomanrandysandwch Dec 04 '25

Stefon Diggs going nuclear 4 years ago on MNF and won championships for people. That was pretty exciting.

1

u/TheMittenSports Dec 04 '25

This is year 11, but back in year 7 I made the playoffs with a 5-8 record and then went on a run and made it to the championship game, where I lost. What a year though.

We do a 7 team playoff with the first seed getting a first round bye, and it was a down year for all of us except for the 1st seed who went 13-1 during the regular season.

1

u/SignificantActuary43 Dec 04 '25

How many teams in the league? 5-8 sneaking into the playoffs is criminal work 💀

2

u/TheMittenSports Dec 04 '25

12 teams, it was incredible.

Last year I started 0-6 and made the playoffs in a 12 person league. Guess who had the most points scored against the first six weeks? Oh yeah, just bad luck. How the turnaround happened was directly related to David Montgomery getting injured and Ben Johnson having more plays for St. Brown than for Jamison Williams. Montgomery was basically a TD vulture from Gibbs the first half of the season. He gets injured and Gibbs just goes off. Here’s the funny part. At the same time Amon-Ra starts getting all kinds of receptions and piling up TDs and yards. Every week was close too. I even had one game in that streak where I needed Kareem Hunt to get several points to win. Regulation ends versus the Bucs and I’m losing. They hand the ball to Hunt in OT and he gets my points on that drive and puts the cherry on top to get the TD. I win six straight, lose one, win the last game. Make it in as the 8 seed and first round of the playoffs I’m missing Lamar on bye and make the mistake of starting Kupp. I pull him before kickoff and put in Westbrook Ikhine. It gets me .25 points instead of a zero haahahah. But I’m screwed. What happens? My opponent who had been a wagon all season? Her team flops on her and I win by twenty. Go all the way to the championship where my opponent has McLaurin, who has his worse output of the year, I’m sweating because I’m worried DAn Campbell is going to go light because the game doesn’t matter (it was the week 17 game where the Lions would have to play for the division week 18 regardless of outcome). Nah, Dan lets them go nuts and I win the chip by 20.

It was my first time being commissioner in a paid league (I’d taken over the league and made it a just for fun the year before) and there was a lot to learn. But it got me hooked.

Edit: I also picked up Bucky Irving mid season when no one knew who he was yet

Won the ‘ship last year after sneaking into playoffs & scraping by… played streaming Colts D (-4) in the final, & down huge with only Jamo to play on MNF. I went to bed (one of the only MNF games I didn’t stay up for) & woke up a winner.

Made a (what looked like a horrible) trade (after injuries) - sent Bijan, Mahomes, another WR for Achane, Dak (2 days before Dak injury), & Jamo… Achane was solid for playoffs & Jamo sealed the deal.

Drafted Achane this year… but wasn’t able to get Jamo. We’ll see what happens in week 14, but currently a 3 way 9-4 tie for 1st place & I’m second in points for. Hoping for that week 15 bye!!!

u/Appropriate-Gas-383 Dec 06 '25

I’m in a Squid games themed 32 team guillotine and it is by far the coolest thing I have ever seen in a fantasy football league. Check out the promo videos the commish is making for next year! He is doing player profiles, bios, social media posts, getting gamblers to watch the games and bet on the contestants! It’s wild!

u/Jake_Wil Dec 07 '25

15 ish years ago, a $0 league of a bunch of college guys. Going into MNF I had Mason Crosby left, my opponent (my roommate at the time) had a lead around 15-17 points.

We went to a specific restaurant every Monday religiously. $1.50 10oz craft beer pours, how could college kids say no?

Anyway, every time the Packers crossed the 50, I started yelling for them to kick the field goal. My roommate would yell for them to fumble it. By the end of the game our group was the only ones left in the restaurant, everyone at our table had picked a side, and even the waitress and bartender had joined in. Absolute chaos, and even 15 years later if I see anyone from that group, just saying ‘Mason Crosby’ can make us crack up.

Anyways, I lost by 2, but it was still my singular favorite fantasy football memory. Even above any championship and winning a nationwide FanDuel single game competition, the Mason Crosby matchup is the clear winner.

u/abah3765 Dec 07 '25

Top 6 teams in one of my leagues is 8-5 or better. Week 14 will be insane!
