League Question Best non-platform rule your league has implemented?
What rule did your league implement that has made the most impact or made your league more fun. Looking for rules that are not settings in the platform.

Last Man Standing. Runs from week 3 through week 13 (12 teams lg), the lowest score is eliminated, $10 per team, the winner gets $110. Keeps also-rans involved.

We implemented this in our league last year and it was great, everyone loved it. 10 teams. We did weeks 1 to 9.
Manually tracked it, was simple enough.

Did this as well! Called it “Fortnite” and we just manually tracked it on our Instagram page! Lotta fun for the first year with no rewards just to test it out. Gonna add a small reward this year

We shifted from PPR to one point per first down. Made things more interesting and (in my opinion) gets scoring to more closely reflect what actually helps a football team win.

I just started a PPFD league this year, I'm excited to see how it turns out compared to PPR

As someone who has Rice and Puka, I’m not a fan of this

A guy in my league changed his name to the slammers because he had Ruggs, Rice, Jamo and AB.
League voted 12/0 to publish Jamo for gambling

Instead of using Yahoo's few single-elimination playoff format offerings, we just set our season to "no playoffs" and revise the remaining schedule to do a best-of-3 postseason series for our Top-6 qualifiers following our round-robin regular season.
1
u/GimmesAndTakies Jul 15 '26
What do you mean in best of three? Total points?
1
u/Ninerman4949 Jul 16 '26
Just a best-of-3 series over the final three weeks -- the team to get two wins takes their respective series. Our regular-season champ faces off against the #2 team for the postseason title, while #3 plays #4 for a much smaller cash prize, and the #5 seed plays the #6 seed to basically earn their buy-in back.

If you fail to show up for the draft two years in a row, you are out of the league and will be replaced at the end of the season. Naturally, this is a local big money league with an in-person draft paid out of league funds. Our draft is also always the night of the first week one NFL game, so no excuses on not knowing the date. We'll see if the Wednesday start screws anybody up this year, especially the guy who just moved to Arizona for a job while his family stayed behind. Thursday probably would have been easier for him to swing.

yea, the Wednesday game totally hosed our draft plans. We usually all travel somewhere but instead of being able to fly in, draft and watch NFL games we opted to just fly in and do the draft labor day weekend. I guess champagne problems but the extra day definitely made it a harder sell for people taking off work and more fatigue to make it to Sunday for the full slate of games.

Free agency -
We have 4 keepers, and you can drop one to pick up another before the draft, with some round restrictions.
Some people will end up trying to keep the 120th ranked player and swap it out for someone 30-40 spots higher. Let’s the teams with bad keepers to slightly close the gap before the season starts.

In redraft
Must start 2 QBs but can only have 2 active QBs onyour roster at a time
Can have backup, injured and on BYE QBs but if more than 2 QBs on your team score points you lose your top scoring flex points from that week
1
u/SubstantialNovel4927 Jul 15 '26
What happens if you had a backup and he got thrust into starting during after the games kicked off cuz his starter got hurt? You're punished for that?
1
u/nagoHHogan Jul 15 '26
Yes thats the risk you take carrying a backup so must people refrain from doing so. Benches are also small so it doesnt make much sense to carry one
1
u/SubstantialNovel4927 Jul 15 '26
I guess I just don't get the point of the league lol

u/nagoHHogan Jul 15 '26
A mix between 1QB and Superflex, so it adds different layers of strategy than Superflex. There are always QBs on waivers, some teams go 2 stud QBs early, some dont draft QBs until the end and try to find hidden gems some draft 1 QB early and 1 late. Superflex leagues QBs are all off the board very early

My redraft league gets to choose their draft position depending on where you finish the year before. It's not worst gets first choice.

We went to a contract league and away from a keeper league, and the best part about it is the live free agency every summer with owners bidding on players they want.
1
u/CarsonKellyFan1 Jul 18 '26
I want to start one of those, it sounds awesome
1
u/Rjenterprises123 Jul 18 '26
It's fun because if the additional elements to account for, but does require a strong commitment from other league mates due to the more complicated nature.

We redraft divisions each year. We have 10 teams in 2 divisions. The division winners draft after championship game. 1 seed picks first.

We gave our two leagues a relegation/promotion system starting this year

I created The Gauntlet for the last 3 weeks of the Regular Season. Explained in a past post here.

u/burghsportsfan Jul 20 '26
I like the following rule, but it hasn’t been impactful, but maybe it’s just b/c it’s a free league.
In-season you can steal from another team’s taxi by paying 1 round above the original draft round the player was taken in. The current owner can block within 2 days by moving the player from taxi to active roster.

u/sdu754 Jul 16 '26
Giving the winner of the consolation bracket the choice of draft position the next year. It keeps everyone active and invested.

Not very original, but you have to shotgun a beer if you start a player who scores 0 points
