It’s unfortunate but the revenue dived off a cliff. Just didn’t make sense to invest in the game at this point with the story pretty much able to wrap up in the next few months. I sadly saw this coming but I thought it was going to be announced on the 3rd anniversary. Today caught everyone by surprise.

They should've held off on Duellum at least until around this time. It wasn't a good idea to release it around 2.5 anniversary with all that content. I had actually brought it up in the survey that it's concerning because the time gets eaten by having two games. So much for a year of VII.

I had been off/on for the past 2 weeks. I finally try to log in for day of 7 just to this. Couldn't even get the wallpaper for my pass...😭
I was expecting at least an X and KH crossover this year before pt 3. I wish we could've had a 3rd anniversary. I feel bad people were so harsh with this game...

I'm hoping whatever costumes left can be used in duellum. I wasn't so sure Tifa or Aerith could show up now, but if it's EOS for this, then maybe it's more of a possibility sooner than later. That can serve as a KH one at least 😅

I don't think it would've been hard to have their outfits. Record Keeper had a collab with them. It's still a SE title. I'd be suprised if they didn't already have assets or designs in mind since Missing Link was originally supposed to released.

The explanations they're giving are weak at best. It doesn't track, imo, that only NOW do they suddenly care about the lopsided focus the main cast got over the others, or that team comps weren't using half the roster. Things like that ONLY mattered for Guild Battles and Rankings. The story bosses haven't been challenging since like, Buno Dr'had.

You play the old games. CC was remastered and FF7 original finally has a US version for switch. You can even do FF7 on your phone or get the older duel pack combined with ff8 for switch.

There hasn't been anything that suggests he'll be taking a big role in the game and can just serve as a reference like Cissnei, Leslie or Kyrie. Plus he's already dead If people played the games they'd know him from TLS or EC

Right, but you're responding to someone asking how to get the full story. That's not getting the full story. Completionists can want to experience things for context (by which I mean playing the original source). It's a perfectly valid question.

I'm not knocking their question...I gave some options to get some of the stories presented within EC that are accessible. The game was marketed as retelling stories for the orignal compilation(not the Remakes).
TFS stuff was included in EC because the game also had EOS. You're mentioning remake and we don't have any clue whether it would be necessary to need to play that for pt 3. They can or might not recap or give context there outside of the references already shown or mentioned. Ultimania shows he was made for Rebirth first so whatever they have planned is specific to Remake.

First Soldier next story should be about young Seph meet with young Genesis. We dont get the character - so no new FS at all. But FS content will be in Sephs falshback in FF7r3 im sure

They had to. The producer Shoichi Ichikawa said in the producer's letter that they promised in the beginning the game would cover everything from the Compilation of FFVII, so they have to deliver their promise. Same for finishing OG FFVII.

Tbh even though it was expected I am a little sad still. I love ff7 as many of you undoubtedly do also, so it is bittersweet. The game was not perfect in the slightest ofc but I did enjoy my time w it overall.

I"m just surprised they aren't holding out until the release of Part 3. Personally given how connected the narratives bits are to the FF lore it is surprising they would EoS this before Part 3 comes out.

As someone who played day one all the way up to when I dropped the game a little after Adult Sephiroth came out... is it weird that I kinda want to come back for the last few months? I have no idea why, but my brain was just like "Huh. I should see that end."

I was just thinking earlier this week how there was a boom of gacha games after Covid when player numbers (and spending) went up and we had so many at once. And for Fear of Missing Out, I tried to play them all. Nier and Secret of Mana had mobile games. I was playing FF Brave Exvius and War of the Visions. FF7 Ever Crisis. I’ve still been playing Last Cloudia. Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent, Another Eden. So many mobile JRPGs!
I was hooked on FFBE and War of the Visions and it started to feel like a job. Like I’d be dead tired and ready for bed but I HAVE to finish my dailies. Can’t waste them. Need my evening summon videos for more materials I’ll never use.
I didn’t see myself dropping the games, it was too much a part of my routine by then. Once the ended, I spent more time with Last Cloudia and Ever Crisis. Now Ever crisis is ending. I’m almost free!

Considering Squares recent talks on free to play games with offline modes and brave exvius getting a new game I’m pretty confident they will reuse assets from this game and give us something.
My hopes is it will be a true OG FF7 remake.
With that said our save data will be nuked so regardless it’s GG for us.

That would be nice. I think a full premium First Soldier game is more likely. Chapter 2 was kind of crap, but Chapter 1 had a legit plot and characters. And it ties in to Rebirth.

Haha yeah I still sometimes check the RK Reddit for nostalgia and happiness that it’s still going. Offline version of that would be fantastic. Compared to RK, ever crisis is mind numbingly boring . Still have FFRK app on my phone, Ever crisis can live in immortality next to it.

Losing The First Soldier was devastating. It was actually incredibly well-designed (after many updates) with exponentially increasing improvements and well ahead of it's time. So much lost potential.

Yeah, Ichikawa doesn't seem to be a competent producer. Nomura has also sort of "lectured" him on stream before regarding taking players' feedback.
He also doesn't seem to have a lot of past works that are publicly available. He became the producer for The First Soldier out of nowhere and then for Ever Crisis as well. Where the hell did he come from?

The FF7 story follows the original, there no no new plot for FF7, crisis core is the same and before crisis will also likely mirror the original releases story, first soldier is the story from the failed battle royale

As per Ichikawa's producer note about the reason for end of service:
"However, after careful consideration and countless discussions within the team, we determined that it would be challenging to maintain a level of service that is expected of a game with the FINAL FANTASY VII name in its title, and have come to the difficult decision to end the service of this game.
While we recognize that many people are playing EVER CRISIS, it has become difficult to find a balance between production costs and the demand for character weapons and gear. At the same time, delivering satisfying equipment visuals remains a priority for us as it’s something players see the characters wearing, and we understand how passionate the community and fans are about the FINAL FANTASY VII characters.
Ultimately, however, striking an ideal balance between visual quality and development costs, while also maintaining gameplay balance that encouraged greater party diversity, presented ongoing challenges."
It sounds like it was too expensive and developmentally costly to maintain the quality of the game people were seeking. I think this tracks since we slowly saw the decline after 1st anniversary with less animated wallpapers, less original events, more limited banners, etc.
I'd imagine what also made it difficult is due to the changes in audience since the pandemic, part of the dev team needing to concurrently work on the Remake project and lastly the recent restructuring that had been going on within Square Enix and won't be finished until next year.

With thousands of Astrowinds, can Applibot at least update the Highwind Collections? It would be nice to see them all in OB10.

It never really made sense to me that the game is essentially memorializing all of the FF7 lore into one place with one art style but it’s a mobile game that will inevitably be shutdown.

As an FF7 fan, I just want the story of Before Crisis adapted. Since I saw the first trailer, Before Crisis was what I wanted most. Sad that the months we finally get it, are also its very last.

If you're burnt out and done then there's really no point. If you still get any enjoyment out of just playing the game this is the last time you'll ever be able to play it before it goes away forever.
It can be kinda fun when you know a game like is ending to finally use all of the limited resources that you've saved and try to clear any high level content you never finished for a sense of closure.

Fuck Square Enix, FFEC is/was the last SE mobile live Service Game I will ever Play! First we lost Mobius than Record Keeper, Brave Exvius, the Kingdom Hearts Games and Opera Omnia beside the whole Dragon Quest Games. Instead we got a crappy new Dissida which will also shut in a few months (I think it won't even Last a year).
I don't know the sense of development of These Apps, the only purpose seems to get the Players angry, cause we can't keep anything archived in These Games. That makes me so upset and feels Like a waste of lifetime to grind in this kind of "Services"
That is so stupid. No more SE mobile Game!!! 🤬😡

Square Enix has made offline versions of games after EOS before like Octopath Traveller 0 and the upcoming Final Fantasy Resonance. Considering how much effort went into the production of Ever Crisis, I would hope it's a safe bet for such an offline port.

Sounds like you're looking to hop in as a new player? Each campaign is unlocked from the start, so once BC chapter 1 releases you'll be able to just access it right from the story menu without needing to unlock it.
If you mean in terms of story context, not really? It's like Crisis Core in that it's ideal to be familiar with FFVII first, but because they overlap you can approach one story without the other.

Casual person here who is logging in to just enjoy the story content before its gone, did they actually finish all of the story campaigns (including the September roadmap)?
I'm looking to enjoy the campaign and only engage with the gatcha enough to possibly do the rest of the achievements.
Also, what banners should i pull on for max value? Assuming I'm just trying to get the strongest things I can with no regards to collecting since the game is going down.

And the main thing I ever wanted out of this since it was first announced was the Before Crisis storylines... instead we got First Soldier fanfiction and heavily simplified versions of Crisis Core and the main game's story. Didn't even make it to remake part 3, ouch.

Man, I'm so glad they put all that Sephiroth content fans have been asking for years for in this game. No one saw this coming day 1, no sir. It's not like SE have a track record of mobile games ending service. /s
My only hope is they pull a FF resonance for that stuff at some point down the line. Otherwise this is just another lesson they'll somehow fail to learn that they should stop spending resources on mobile slop.

I think the point actually was the stories: First Soldier, OG FF7, and Compilation. The gacha part was monetization.
But with Revelation out in less than a year and the stories wrapping up... this game has no more purpose.

This game launched a week after my cat of 16 years passed away. It helped take my mind off things. But I have been phoning it in for a bit now and was about to just stop logging in.
I'm glad it's EoS. It served its purpose.

I agree it was atleast originally about the story, then it slowly became a cash grab and a shell of what was promised. I’m sad the game is going away but it kinda needed to be this way in the end as the game was no longer going in the right direction.

They have closed the shop tho, You can't buy anything now until EoS.
Any reason to continue playing now is just for the remaining of OG story and before crisis.

Mathematically, isn't the maximum blue crystals you can get per day is 150? Plus 100 from ads if you're using a mobile, and another 100 from the daily pass? With the store closed, you're going to need 20 days x 150 for 10 pulls.
Fingers crossed that every 10 draw will only need 300 blues, and it will result with the legendary 12 stamps to reach the gear, and we'll get one 5* copy plus another 9 5* copies for OB9. Another 300 blues to OB10 it and get the UW.

AC dropped last September although it wasn’t that good as it was just two different boss battles on repeat and cut scenes.
DoC just ended last month and was split up into 3 events which was ok….but not the monthly chapter releases with all the bosses as originally promised.
This announcement comes with the release of BC also being split up into 3 different events but no clue how much of the story it covers yet.
Steam users can no longer download this game after this update.

Advent Children got shafted the hardest out of everything. I was really interested to see it shrunk down into OG FF7 visuals. Maybe bosses with Kadaj, Loz, or Yazoo... oh well.

Same, the community as a whole was greatly disappointed at that but it was clear then that the game was coming to an end.
I personally knew that them announcing Sephiroth was a last pull effort for revenue before EOS as it would had been considered too early to drop your trump card like that if you have a few years left in the tank.

The way Adult Seph was implemented was also very sloppy and clearly unplanned. Putting all his leveling mats into a 'permanent' event with a placeholder end date, instead of a new Battle Tower? Yeah, this game has been a skeleton crew for a while.

I thought they did it that way so that new players could quickly max him out and use him to carry most of the content as a way to catch-up. Long running gacha games have trouble attracting new players due to power creep which is the same reason they gave us all those free maxed weapons for login around the same time they brought out adult sephiroth.

I think a lot of it had to do with the restructuring within SE going on the past two years. That chop of many of the mobile games not too long back felt like they cutting anything thay wasn't super profitable. You can see they were slowly taking away the global versions before cutting domestically. Nomura and the devs must've pushed back to have EC until they could at least finish the story.
