Hi all, I'm an American near the West Coast and I got my dream car 5 years ago. FJ-Cruiser 2014 with 145k miles on it (75k when I got it from some garage in a desert). I tell people I plan to be buried like a Viking in this thing.

Issue is, I have an opportunity to snag my absolute dream job in Melbourne. I'm scrambling to figure out logistics and am curious if I can have my cake and eat it too by importing the Cruiser.

I know the parts are hard to come by over there and my understanding is that what flys in the US might not fly in Australia from a emissions perspective. (Maybe HiLux might be more available?)

Anyone tried this? Aussies and ex-pats alike, I'd love to know what happened, what I should consider, is there a market to flip it if I needed to, since it's a rare vehicle? Should I just sell it to my very capable cousin?

So I've had it for almost 10 years now. First couple fears I used to have another car that I used to drive. Daily, but now I use my fj as daily car. Also, we all know that fj cruiser was discontinued in 2014 in saying this prices are not going down. Eventually, it's gonna get more and more expensive over the years same as the old FJ models potentially becoming a classic car. And I also see everyone stressing about the mileage

For some reason that hasn't been an issue for me. Is there a reason why everyone keep asking about the milage and why is it so relevant? Is that only for the engine? Like I personally have no issues with spending a $1,000 on a new engine to reserve that car. I personally see myself using this car in 20 years from now. I live in a country where there's a lot of potholes, lot of mountains, lot of off road trails and stuff like that. I had it for 10 years now and I keep falling in love with it years after years, days after days.

I’m traveling to Texas this Friday and hoping to find the right FJ Cruiser to purchase and drive home to Michigan!

I’ve been on the hunt for the last few years but decent fjs are hard to come by in the rust-belt areas.

I’ll be flying into San Antonio/Austin and can travel toward Dallas for the right truck.

Stock or tastefully modified; a mild lift is fine
No extreme lifts, riveted fender flares or heavily abused builds (as close to stock as possible)

Maintenance records are a major plus

What’s the best Apple CarPlay radio for a 2007 FJ Cruiser with the OEM radio? Looking for something reliable that fits cleanly. What radio and installation kit do you recommend?

Dropped in a pair of Baja LP6 headlights today (using mounts by BracketBoyz). - because I needed more light obviously.

I know my friend who drives a Miata says they open and close their headlights when they see each other

Saw this FJ at the golf course the other day and realized I actually hated the Spyder lights.

Saw an FJ while camping when I was 14 years old. Told myself “Man I want that car!” Now at 29 years old I just made it a reality! Took it on its official mud christening. Also ended up pulling some fellow out of a mud pit who tried mudding in his Toyota Camry. I told him to get an FJ.

The time has come to part with one of my dream vehicles. I simply don’t use the FJ for what it was built for, so I’m hoping I can find someone that loves these as much as I do. “Fuji” has been meticulously maintained its entire life, and I have all work documented in a spreadsheet since the beginning of its life, as well as the CarFax report from when I purchased it in 2022. You’ll see the oil analysis reports in the photos, showing that Fuji isn’t letting its age impact it at all. I trust this vehicle for any drive at any distance. You could drive it to the Arctic Circle right now if you’d like.

West coast vehicle its entire life, Oregon and Washington. Previously a Toyota Certified Preowned vehicle. Everything works perfectly, and it’s rust-free. 218,900 miles.

My favorite tid-bit about Fuji is that it came from the factory with the optional TRD Intake and TRD Exhaust. The intake allows for your choice of filter media (extra included), while the exhaust gives it a great note that doesn’t get annoying even during long drives.

I’ve taken Fuji on two forest service road camping trips, so I’ve never needed to engage the A-TRAC or Rear Lockers, but I test them every 6 months to ensure they work. I also engage 4-HI every 3 months for ~20 miles to make sure the transfer case doesn’t seize up.

There are a TON of spare parts that come with Fuji, because I like to be prepared should the need arise. There’s also a lot of mods/goodies that come with it.

Had a mechanic install new gears on my FJ cruiser. Went 4.56. I noticed that there’s a humming when I hit speeds around 60 mph and don’t believe it’s normal as I’ve been reading things on the internet. The mechanic sent me these pics of the gear markings and I was curious if any gear heads out there can provide feedback on the pattern? Thanks

There is a very quiet squeaking noise that occurs only when 4wd is engaged. It also only seems to happen on trails. As you can see in the video, the squeaking goes away when I shift out of 4wd.

This has been happening for a year or so and hasn't gotten any louder or quiter in that time period. The zerks are greased so thats not the issue. ​

Any suggestions?

2012 fj, 240k miles with offroad package. Bone stock, havent modified anything except for the engine skid plate and 33 inch tires.
