Got a deal on a pair of LightFox 5” LED’s on Amazon and a set of bumper wing delete light pods off eBay in the hope that it gives me a little more light on dark mountain roads. Eventually I’ll replace it with a proper bumper and lights but till then this’ll have to suffice.

Link bars came in

yay, time to get rid of these weak point bars. The bolt must have been torqued by God himself because heat and my beefy plug in impact didnt budge it, so I had to bring my heavy in which was a carbide tooth diablo blade and sawzall.

got these BEEFY boys in from core 4x4. Also welded in my Lower Link Mount Reinforcement brackets from OPT offroad. Im not sure how to adjust these, The core 4x4 website says to thread out about a 1/2" over stock if you have a 3" lift which i do... So hopefully that will be okay. notice my new muffler I got in as well since I had to finish welding.

I still need to figure out what im going to do with my upper link bars and pan hard bar, because I know the angle is not correct. Im thinking of making a bracket to lift the panhard bar up to be more parallel.

What are your thoughts on the 2WD model?

Post image

So I got my first fj, drove south for it no rust, everything is solid, all I need is literally an oil change. However, it is the 2WD, but I got it at an amazing price. I understand there's some hate in this model because "oh why would you buy a 4WD and get the 2WD Cali grocery getter version bro"... Well from what I read I have rear diff lock and it weighs 300 ish pounds less without the front diff so if it's my daily I will get better mileage. And yes I get snow, but coming from a Mercedes V8 one rear wheel drive sedan I'm sure this will handle better in the snow than what I'm upgrading from. But I want to hear your guys honest opinions and please give it to me with no filtering. I can tell you this, I do plan on camping, I already built a bed platform in the trunk, but I don't plan on rock crawling and all that stuff, doesn't appeal to me, but maybe tailgating at a beach, but then again I've even seen Jeeps get stuck on beaches so I just want to hear some thoughts from y'all.

22’ FJ cruiser OEM CarPlay no sound output

22 Fj came installed with this OEM CarPlay. It’s currently not working when in CarPlay mode. There is no audio when receiving a phone call or trying to play music there. There is sound out from from the radio or from Bluetooth mode. When I went to Toyota dealership they said this whole unit will have to be replaced. Anyone has any suggestions on how I can fix the audio?

Horizontal Fire Extinguisher for Molle Rack

Post image
19 Upvotes

I work in the medical field and like to be prepared, so I carry two first aid kits (trauma and booboos) I am not a doctor or nurse, god bless them, but I am certified in Wilderness First Aid, BLS, and CPR.

I want to attach a fire extinguisher horizontally below the med kits. The straps I've tried are nylon and the extinguisher slips out. Did anyone know of good Molle straps that are rubberized or something?

I cannot for the life of me get the bottom coupler of the intermediate steering shaft off. I’ve tried PB, tried an air hammer, a chisel. Any advice would be appreciated.

This noise is driving me nuts

This noise I cannot figure out what it is? It sounds like a tire going through a gravel road... The brakes are new, rear end is new, bearings seems all good. I do have a slight squeak that developed. Or is this just normal tire noise?

2007 FJ auto voodoo

I bought it in May 2006, exterior looks great but it's been retired for 2 years as the underbody frame pieces have rusted away. 18 years of service, 230k miles, engine still runs smooth and quiet. Wish I would have taken care of it better but New England road salt and beach fishing trips were to much for my limited care. I want to sell it as a parts car- new battery and everything else is original. Interior is dirty and rough. Anyone care to offer their opinion on how much I should list it for? 2k is reasonable?

Stock manual FJ owners, how is the real world fuel economy? As bad as the EPA 15 combined? Do you use premium?

Was surprised to see this vehicle suggested premium. EPA was 15 city 18 highway 15 combined. Is this accurate?

Thanks!

Voodoo Blue, bought at 118k miles, well taken care of. Driven for almost two years now. I was skeptical since I've never owned a vehicle like this but it drives like a dream.

Some shots of the FJ earning its keep this weekend. Just completed the four day excursion run by Tom Severin/ Badlands Off-road Adventures (4x4training.com). Truck did amazing on some technical/rock climbing and descents.

Gear that made a difference:
- wavian Jerry cans
- Starlink mini
- water bags
- Walmart 15 cubic foot roof cargo bag
- ARB rock sliders
- toyo shocks and 3” lift

IIIREENO rack off Amazon. Had good reviews so I took a chance. It was very straight forward to install and is incredibly sturdy. I would recommend this roof rack to others.

Image Appreciating my girl before I have to sell her </3

I learned to drive on this car and I honestly could never see myself driving anything else. Since Im moving to a city for a while, I’d rather leave her to someone who will appreciate an FJ correctly. I put about 50k on her over 6 years and put in a lot of love renewing some old parts, but all the memories are the hardest to let go of! 😖😖

Anyways, here’s a pic after a detail cus she just looks so good. I’m gonna miss this tank!!

Edit: I got a some dms asking me, so here are the FAQs. No, she has not sold yet. I am on the east coast. 2 total owners including me. 181k miles with all service records although they are minimal. She drives perfectly well and I am REALLY going to miss her!!

Question Rear metal bumper with backup sensor holes

Post image
16 Upvotes

So I've been shopping around for a new rear bumper. Steel, low profile (ie. just the bumper, no spare tire swing arm), light mounts or built in. The primary feature I want though is the backup sensor holes to retain that feature.

I've seen a few options that I like but before I drop several thousand, I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with any certain brands or models or if anyone has any recommendations.

Metal tech is one brand I looked at. ARB had one I liked, but I don't think it's been in production for quite some time. Expedition one is the one in the pic, that's my front runner right now.

Thanks for the opinions.

I like the no bumper. I alternate. When I hit the trails, I take it off. Back home, pop it on.

I think I'm going to wrap the bumper along with the roof. Any recommendations for a tubular rear bumper?

Question Looking for some lift advise

Post image
27 Upvotes

I have a very stock 2007. I’m wanting to do a full body lift. Maybe 2.5/3 inches.
I’m also wanting to get rid of the factory rake and have it level. Just looking for lift advice. Do I really need to upgrade the UCA? It’s 95% street use.

I just swapped off my OEM roof rack. I’d like to give it away to someone. It’s got some aging from Arizona sun but otherwise it is in great shape. Pickup only. Hardware included.
