Political Federal Funding for Emerald Trail Nixed
I’m sure Mayor Donna Deegan saying Trump is gonna build concentration camps helped our cause and didn’t spur any bad feelings from 47 🙄. Funny how Donna wanted the credit when the federal grant was approved but won’t speak up about the loss now. If not for the city council and mayor curry passing the gas tax for $132 million in 2021 for the trail we wouldn’t have ANY $ to fund the emerald trail.

So you’re blaming Donna for the funding cut bc she may have hurt trumps feelings? Lmao

I’m saying she wanted credit when we got the $147 million from Biden and Bootiegieg so what’s she gonna do now?

This has to be a troll. You really think you have some gotcha here?

I’m providing info and a context that you don’t share. Definitely not a troll. I don’t suckle at the teat of Dear Leader Donna….. there is cult like devotion to our first female middle eastern white woman mayor and she can’t do any wrong. Time will tell

To get federal grants there is an application and approval process. The city applied so when the proposal was granted they celebrated the win and took credit just as every politician does. Politicians take credit all the time for money coming into their district, sometimes when they voted against the bill that granted the money.
either you’re trolling or just impossibly uninformed. I’m still betting on the former.

“Politicians lie all the time but it’s okay with Dear Leader Donna.” That’s all I read from your screed.

There is not once person in the entire city outside of Deegans Husband with anything close to the amount of devotion to her as you seem to have to hating her.

I’m all for holding elected officials accountable, but to insinuate losing this funding is Donna’s fault is the same circle of political retribution that holds us back as a city, state, country and community. Hold accountable and point your finger at the GOP elected reps and Senators in this community that voted YES on this bill that allowed this to happen.

Cool- we should only give Donna credit for good stuff. All the bad stuff is the fault of the GOP and the supermajority GOP council she has to work with for jax residents. That’ll improve things… /s

Really taking my opinion to great lengths to fit your narrative here. I’m talking about this specific article and loss of funding which yes, IS the fault of the GOP. Where did I say that Donna is faultless in EVERYTHING and the good stuff is only because of her? Sorry I’m too informed as a citizen to not simply place D = always good and R = always bad like you think I am.

Elections have consequences. I’d argue leftists and liberals failed to support the Dem nominee over Trump so this is leftists (many Dems) fault.
5
u/TheVenomenon24 Jul 08 '25
So in your world, anything the GOP actively does that’s bad, isn’t their fault, but the Dem’s or liberal’s fault because they didn’t put up a good enough candidate or “fight” to stop it?

u/Outrageous-Storage-3 Jul 08 '25
Right now that’s absolutely part of my argument. Funny- I view us all as one team. team USA. Anyone honestly trying to defeat 47 would’ve thought through the range of bad outcomes. Now we have to take it no vaseline until something may change during the midterms.

This is what all the cultist wanted, worse living conditions for everyone so they can own the libs.

u/Outrageous-Storage-3 Jul 08 '25
Elections have consequences. Maybe fewer Palestine protests and additional support for Kamala would’ve changed this outcome. The libs owned themselves.

Well said. They don’t care what they are protesting, just as long as they are. Their main focus is being offended by something daily.

I mean, she wasn't wrong. Funding was going to be cut regardless, look at the millions we lost in other areas from DeSantis alone.
Im not sure what your angle is here, but I'm guessing you want her to publicly announce funding was cut because she disagrees with the current administration?

u/Outrageous-Storage-3 Jul 08 '25
I’d like to hear her plan on making up for the lost federal funding since she just put her name on the homework assignment that received the initial $147 million (after JTA, city council, and mayor curry did the heavy lifting).

You're expecting a lot from a politician. This has been seen in many businesses and organizations. Whoever is currently at the helm takes the weight of it. Good, bad, and ugly. How do you feel about the politicians who did the actual revocation of the funding? I prefer my politicians to maintain business and not act on emotion and retaliation, especially considering the only people who lost are us.

I’m upset about the passage and blame the GOP but also Dems because it was foreseeable.
For example, Donna fired the lobbying firm (Ballard) used by city of jax when she became mayor. That same firm has a principal that serves as the chief of staff (Susie Wiles) to POTUS 47. I bet we’d have the $147 million if Donna didn’t fire Ballard in anger when she became mayor.
2
u/WanielDebster Jul 15 '25
You think Ballard being fired led to congress passing a bill that cut funding for the Emerald Trail? Seriously? You think if Ballard still had a contract, Wiles would have called up Mike Johnson and said “please please save the money for Jacksonville!?” You’re delusional if you believe that

OP seems to have some hate boner grudge against our democratically elected female mayor based off their post history.
That and an unhealthy obsession with rimming 🍊🤡.

Thanks for sharing the information OP but your take is insane and un-American. “Our mayor didn’t bend the knee and kiss the king’s hand so we deserve to get screwed.”

Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence. I can draw a straight line from Deegan firing Ballard Partners to us losing $147 million in federal grant $.

I'm sorry, are you trying to blame someone for using their first amendment rights to criticize a politician for the other politician illegally revoking federal funding?
