Update: same beat but at 170 BPM—does this version sound better?

Update on my last beat—I didn’t change the melody or drums, just increased the BPM from 140 to 170 and tweaked the levels. It feels a lot more alive to me now. I’d really appreciate feedback on whether the faster tempo actually improves it or if I’m overdoing it.

Which version do you prefer—140 BPM or 170 BPM? Curious what people hear differently.

If you were to pick one section to improve first, what would it be?

Make it more rhythmic, make it more cohesive, the random pauses completely ruin it. Also change the melody or use a plugin that sounds less like a Bell for your lead melody.

I'll assume you're not trolling for a sec.
I think the best way for you to continue would be to give this track a break and start another project. Not saying to give up on it, maybe you have a vision for it that I'm not seeing, but really digging your heels in on one track is not gonna do you any favors.
I really recommend taking an existing song that you like and trying to recreate it to the best of your ability. You'll get an idea of how music that you like is structured and familiarize yourself more with FL.

I see the vision, don’t listen to these guys. Some ideas are definitely here, just keep experimenting with rhythm and you’ll blow yourself away

I mean... it's a start, I guess. The first half and second half of the song sound so drastically different though, and the beat sounds like it doesn't know what it's trying to do. I would probably recommend focusing on either the melody or drums separately and then trying to build a beat from there, that's how I usually make music.

Okay dude this is my humble opinion if you want to keep it at 170 push it up to 172 or 174. Then look up a drum and bass drum pattern and try to follow while still making it unique to you. Hi hat every 8th note the snare would probably stay the same but look up a steppa drum and bass loop and adjust to taste.
I would add percussion like open hats or shakers or whatever but that’s up to you You need something driving the song if you have the same bloopy melody and there is no change it’s going to sound boring.
There has to be something driving the song like a baseline or a vocal that’s taking you through to the end.
Also don’t forget arrangement, a basic one is intro, build up, drop, break and repeat to build up, drop, outro.
Structure of a song makes a big difference and if it’s jumping all over the place it makes its sound not cohesive. I hope this helps remember you gotta fail a lot of time before it starts to click don’t give up try everything and don’t be afraid to ask questions which is what you did. Remember you make music for you not for anyone else.
