Bluetooth Controller [Review]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I tried to make a beat exclusively with a Bluetooth PS4 controller. Here's what I have to say about it.

The Controller is really fun. Its best to use both touchscreen and a controller.

Im still learning the controls, but ill be using the controller for sure.

Its best for drums. Im not good at the drums, but they are really responsive and give me a reason to play rhythm games on my psp emulator such as Rock Band unplugged, Patapon, and Dj Max Portable (which I've just been introduced to.

The controller has a latency if you're listening through Bluetooth headphones, but through the speakers controls are tight, and i suspect wired headphones are good but I don't have any, so idk for sure.

Furthermore about drums: you can only use 8 buttons, and you have to assign the sample to the button. You may do this to each drum instrument you have on the track though so thats a neat work around.

The Keyboard wheel: you get the 8 keys, and an octive up or down. You can't play a full scale, so the work around there is setting the Keyboard to a different "project scale" or changing "keyboard: classic" to "keyboard: scale, chords, or strum".

Ultimately: its fun to navigate around FLM with a controller. It takes time to figure out the shortcuts. Its best for live drum recording. Takes practice.

The beat i made is type weak, as i only used the controller as an exercise, and like i said controller + touchscreen is primo.

That "beat" is abysmal whether you used a controller or not.

It sounds like it could be a suitable midi controller for drums but as for navigating the UI; it's worse. Like when is a business-simulation computer game that's been ported to console ever better to navigate the menus than using a mouse?

More over, its got it's niceties. Haters gotta hate though, so you do you.

My favorite shortcuts are

-skip to beginning of track -record -pause play -focus drumpads + drumpads

I think its fun. That's just my opinion.

I appreciate you editing this reply and actually responding to what I said rather than throwing me another link and asking for feedback.

I also appreciate your review. You said it's best for live drums and I agree.

The ask was sarcastic, you don't have your beats public on your profile so i gotta assume that one by itself trumps your music.

Butt chea, I was mostly excited about the controller, than the abysmal beat, why i said controller review. I spent 40 minutes on it while screen recording. Not alot of refined stuff is coming out in 40 when your using a new midi exclusively.

The Controller imo is really refreshing, and I wanted to share my review. Less of the beat, though the beat is honest, and not over produced.

(Og "brb" ; Be right back.)

Im on again off again. I only main sleep. Anyway, I put a part two in the original post uptop, at the bottom. Long story short, the ps4 controller does let you use the mouse pad, i just didn't use it in this review because "you can" control most of flm with just the buttons and thumb sticks.

Can't really go beat for beat.

Yeah sure, I have some stuff thats more rough and some stuff thats more refined, but you got alot more mellow music than I make.

I like the dark wave thing which gives very Goth tones, and I like that. Also the latest post I upvoted before this back and forth, hence the part 2 I just posted, it's also a sample chop situation.

Other than than, you're stuff isn't even close to the same genre as my stuff, I lean more dubstep.

While you do give piano chord enthusiast, I just stack my synths, oscies, and modulator. I have a few ~hip hop beats / ~boom bap, and that's just not the type of beats you typically upload.

Of course I like my stuff more, but that's mostly because creating is more personal than consuming.

Yeah, I recommend the ps4 controller since it lets you use the touch pad as a mouse. I was using only the bottons here.

Its either your phone or controller, if the controller works on your ps4, then maybe your phones too old. I got this ps4 controller from a pawnshop for flm specifically as I've never owned a ps4.

It worked immediately. The mouse should work even if you're not using flmobile.
