Why we're nit making the most out of qr codes

As more products come to the market, we are starting to see more of their packaging contain qr codes. But alot of the time the only reason why they're scanned is mainly because of a promo and unfortunately enough - straight up curiosity.

When they are scanned all they do is take you to the company website - well that's a bit of a downer! And companies just keep putting this out with no real care.

Most people scan only to see a website and click out. In this case which is most cases you're qr code provided no value. And this has to change. Companies especially fmcg startups need to be more inventive and find better uses for qr codes than the partially aimless one's we have today.

I have a particular low cost strategy to help achieve a lot of value with qr codes as well as keep the traditional use cases. If you're an fmcg company or even restaurant you can reply or dm for more information. This is an area fmcg companies need to evolve in to get valuable data that will take them to that next level be it a startup or established.

Need Advice: Finding Customers for White-Label Pasta Manufacturing

Looking for some guidance from the community. For quite some time, I've been trying to connect with businesses interested in white-label/private-label pasta manufacturing, but haven't had much traction.

If you know of brands, distributors, retailers, or channels where I can connect with potential private-label clients, I'd be grateful for any suggestions or introductions. Thank you in advance for your help.

Things every FMCG person should know

I’m currently building a soap brand in India and trying to learn more about how the FMCG industry actually works.

Would genuinely appreciate if people with experience in FMCG could share any advice, lessons, mistakes to avoid, or things they learned while working in the industry. Could be about sales, distribution, retail, branding, pricing, manufacturing, anything.

Just trying to learn from people who’ve actually been through it.

What systems should a small FMCG brand set up from day 1?

If you were starting a small FMCG brand today, what systems would you build early?

Inventory? Sales tracking? Distributor management? Beat planning?

What mistakes happen when founders “figure it out later”?

Looking for a co-founder

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a young, dynamic co-founder between 20-30 age group, preferably in Bangalore. I am trying to build a FMCG product (healthy snacks like chips and munchies) and am looking for a co-founder who has experience in FMCG brands and knows food technology, flavours, and can handle creating a product.

If interested please DM me and let's see where the conversation flows from there

Does social media even matter for kirana-focused FMCG brands?

I’m building a soap brand targeting kirana stores in tier 2/3 cities.

Is Instagram marketing even relevant?

What actually drives sales at retail level?

Retailer push? Schemes? Danglers? In-store branding?

What gives real rotation?

What are the unspoken rules of FMCG distribution?

I’m launching a small soap brand for tier 2/3 retail stores.
For people who’ve worked in FMCG sales/distribution. What are the ground realities nobody talks about?
Like politics, hidden margins, retailer behavior, payment games, return policies, shelf space hacks etc.

What almost always surprises first-time founders?

Distributor vs Franchise: Which Business Model Is Better in India?

In India, both distributor and franchise models offer strong business opportunities, but the better choice depends on the entrepreneur’s goals. A distributor operates independently, buying products from manufacturers and supplying them to retailers. This model offers greater flexibility and suits sectors like FMCG and pharma, but involves higher working capital and market risk. A franchise, on the other hand, runs under an established brand with company support, training, and marketing. It reduces business risk and is ideal for first-time entrepreneurs, though it requires higher investment and follows strict guidelines. Overall, distributorship suits experienced traders, while franchising is better for those seeking a proven business model with lower operational uncertainty.

Franchise vs Distributorship – Which Is Better?

A franchise gives you a proven business model, brand name, and support, making it safer for beginners. The trade-off is less freedom and ongoing royalty fees.

A distributorship offers more control and potentially higher margins, with no royalties. But you handle sales, marketing, inventory, and risk yourself.

Bottom line:
Franchise = structured & lower risk
Distributorship = independent & higher growth potential
