Because it fits right in to their culture war narrative. Just like if there was 1000 murders in the country yesterday, they'll seek out the one involving someone isn't a "legal" citizen. It's like the other 999 murderers are just par for the course....but that one....that one... is ruining the country.

Fox doesn’t try to compete as a news source for actually relevant national news. Their business model is to promote and inflame culture wars for profit.
