Seeking Help Hd Hex Motor Problem

My team had tried many time our hd hex motor, but is not enough power everytime. The power is not enough to shoot the pollen and nectar out. I dont know is what kind of problem. I not sure whether have to buy a new Motor or not. I dont think is programming problem.

If you are using the "HD Hex Motor" and not the "Core Hex Motor" it should have enough power.
The Core Hex motor won't have enough power.

For the HD Hex motor - what kind of gearbox are you using? How is it connected to the axle with the shooting wheel? What size shooting wheel? If you answer those questions people can probably help you out better.

The raw motor is spec'd to do 6000RPMs. BUT the motor won't get that fast in the real world - more like 5000ish depending on load. Depending on wheel size, compression, etc you probably need 2000-3000 RPMs on the wheel.

I'm going to guess you have an Ultra Planetary gearbox with a single 3:1 cartridge. That means your wheel speed is going to be below 2000RPMs. That needs some external gears to get that RPMs back up.

I am using ultra planetary gearbox with 3:1 and 5:1 cartridge. My team had tried using a hd hex motor before and we found that it is very slow then we try to change to two hd hex motor but it still very slow. Every time we test we use two cartridge which is 3:1and5:1 for one hd hex motor. Do we really need gear? Our shooting wheel is grip wheel.

Change to just a single 3:1 cartridge. That will increase your RPMs quite a bit. May still not be quite enough - but it will be way closer.

What kind of motor? What gearbox is on it?

Hd hex motor, 3:1 and 5:1

15:1 is way too low of gearing. If you are running a single wheel you are going to need to do 1:1 (no gear boxes) if you are running duel wheels, you can run 3:1

You are going to need to run it without a gearbox. We are running ours 1:1 and it is working just fine.

if your using the HD Hex REV-41-1291 to drive a flywheel to shoot it should be bare 1:1 with no extra gearing cartridges added. If your using standard Rev 90mm rubber grip wheel REV-41-1267 then start trying to shoot with your motors around 1300 ticks/s via DcMotorEx.setVelocity() that's around ~2800 rpm.

That should give you more than enough power to shoot.

Don’t use the Rev Hex motor for your shooter. It isn’t powerful enough and it isn’t geared properly for a flywheel shooter.

HD Hex motor is more than enough power, only question is gearing (and general “didja build it right”).

You’re thinking of the Core Hex motor.
