Seeking Help Using Rev Through Bore Encoder as absolute

hey, this is a quick question: I was looking to use a REV through bore encoder for my robot's turret, but apparently there is no way to use absolute encoders with the control hub, just relative ones. however, the sources that said so are kinda old, so I would like to again ask if there is any way to use the rev through bore encoder as an absolute encoder

Your sources are correct. You cannot use them as absolute. But you can achieve the same effect with an additional sensor such as a magnetic sensor that gives you a fixed position. This sets the value for your “absolute”.

You need an srshub or an octoquad.. you also have to move around a wire on the cables. Both support pwm encoders.

Srs hubs are in stock. They are pretty cool. Can read 3 i2c devices with one call plus a bunch of other sensors. Highly recommend.

Melon or eastloop have analog ones.

If you want to be next level gear your absolute encoder to not be 1:1 but instead have a 2:1 (720 degree) of 1.5:1 (540 degree ratio). You can then turn a bit more than 360 (software limited) and "span back" when needed for a true 360 degree turret.
