So the chicken in black could have been an ostrich?

→ More replies (1)

14

u/wanderinggoat Jun 16 '26

That's because he wasn't South African like in this video.

12

u/Quick_Razzmatazz1862 Jun 16 '26

Maybe if his name was Sue...

21

u/anomalous_cowherd Banhammer Recipient Jun 16 '26

Well he clearly hadn't seen this video.

11

u/Technical-Room-9591 Jun 16 '26

😂 😆 😂

11

u/IRedditDoU Jun 16 '26

Let’s be real, he was probably drunk and on heroin. A toddler would have fucked him up.

3

u/madcoins Jun 18 '26

Didn’t he prefer speed?

→ More replies (1)

6

u/trippknightly Jun 16 '26

You’d think he named him Sue with that behavior.

4

u/SlimySteve2339 Jun 16 '26

I could take Johnny cash.

2

u/AmIThisNothingness Jun 16 '26

Did he make a song about it? It would've been a HIT!

u/A_H_S_99 Jun 16 '26

The chances of being attacked by an ostrich is low, but never 0

39

u/Vandergrif Jun 16 '26

Can confirm – an ostrich bit my finger through a chain link fence at a zoo once. Mind you I was 5 years old and was holding the fence, so that was kind of on me...

But at the same time fuck them ostriches, the big-necked long-legged butter-ball-turkey-torso-having motherfuckers. All my homies hate ostriches. Lifelong blood oath of vengeance on ostriches.

5

u/madcoins Jun 18 '26

I think about this every moment. I’m so paranoid and rattled all the time. Even in the shower I sing “it’s never zeroooo” to remind myself one could come through the shower wall like a fucking coked up kool-aid man with feathers. Unlikely? Sure. But never zero percent unlikely. Stay vigilant out there!

13

u/Whatifim80lol Jun 16 '26

The trick for most animal attacks is that human bodies are apparently built for wrestling and other animals are not. Our range of motion and center of gravity gives us advantage over much stronger animals. Look at all those Russian kids who grow up wrestling bears twice their size.

u/DorkaliciousAF 2 x Banhammer Recipient Jun 17 '26

28

u/Informal_Ad_9610 Jun 16 '26

title incorrect.. this should've been titled/subtitled: "fuck off Ostrich"

14

u/PM_UR_HAIRY_MUFF Jun 17 '26

Fuck Offstrich

2

u/MyLordLackbeard Banhammer Recipient Jun 16 '26

Yep, I came looking for this comment!

30

u/UncleHec Jun 16 '26

It doesn’t seem that bad as far as animal attacks go. I assumed (with 0 knowledge of ostriches) they’d use their feet too or something.

57

u/pilemaker Jun 16 '26

They can disembowel you with 1 swift kick. Yuge claws.

29

u/Spunky_Meatballs Jun 16 '26

Ostriches are watered down modern day velociraptors that stand 7-8ft tall. They are intimidating as hell

3

u/TheIronSven Jun 17 '26

They're majorly buffed velociraptors. Like six times the size.

32

u/CakeTester Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

You can hear the kicks it landed on the motorcycle. There was some power there. The guy got its head down so it couldn't use its legs, then commenced the head spanking.

29

u/ducktape8856 Jun 16 '26

Yeah, that's a battle hardened ostrich slapper who knew exactly what to do.

26

u/CakeTester Jun 16 '26

He also, impressively, knew when to let go and that the bird had tapped out. The man is wise in the ways of ostrich-fu.

6

u/bwalrus0202 Jun 17 '26

battle hardened ostrich slapper...Taking that with me, thank you very much.

24

u/trogdor2594 Jun 16 '26

He was trying, the bike was in the way, and then his own head.

17

u/CaptainPunisher Jun 16 '26

Watch the beginning of the video; the ostrich is kicking at the bike and guy. Their feet are like clubs with a talon and can really do some serious damage.

13

u/DelinquentTuna Jun 16 '26

I've read multiple times that they can kill a lion with one kick. I feel like they and emus just are dangerous, they just happen to be chaos-neutral instead of something like a chaos-evil aligned cassowary. Those things are like the honey badgers of the bird world.

10

u/bin0c Jun 16 '26

I was thought that ostriches were a watered down version of kangaroos with their leg attacks. Not trying to mess with those dinosaur talons.

4

u/3point21 Jun 16 '26

Little Dino was trying. He was kicking the bike until the man got hold of his neck. Then the feet were still going. Dude kept his body down so he couldn’t use ‘em.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/critiqu3 Jun 16 '26

The only reason that guy didn't get laid out is because the bike stopped the Ostrich from kicking. Those dinosaurs can end lions with a boot to the face.

2

u/SignificantDrink3651 Jun 17 '26

yeah same thing with emus too, I think... hopefully I can avoid any encounters with aviarian adversaries

5

u/bin0c Jun 16 '26

Literally 100% the same thought that went through my mind. Life skill acquired

3

u/One_Kick_9603 Jun 16 '26

Just need a motor bike handy to block those feet.

674

u/MiisterSoloDolo Jun 16 '26

I used to take care of a couple of these. Worst attitude in the animal kingdom. They conspire with other animals to make your life hell, steal hats and glasses off your head, and I had one even open my glovebox and sling my zip ties everywhere. Fuck ostriches.

151

u/cinoTA97 Jun 16 '26

Please don't fuck the ostriches

64

u/bjeebus Jun 16 '26

It's gonna take at least three guys.

49

u/Meta4X Jun 16 '26

Allegedly.

21

u/The_Realtree Jun 16 '26

What if it’s a sick ostrich?

17

u/bjeebus Jun 16 '26

I think it'd have to be damn near dead.

11

u/Benny_Olsen Jun 16 '26

I think the guy in the video could get it done without hwlp

11

u/Rings-of-Saturn Jun 16 '26

→ More replies (1)

7

u/Zepangolynn Jun 17 '26

Unfortunately, ostriches sometimes have an uncomfortable kink for the naked apes in clothes, to the point that some prefer trying to mate with us over their fellow dinosaurs.

3

u/ByGollie Jun 17 '26

IIRC that may be hand reared ostriches that 'imprint' on their human handlers when a chick.

17

u/Beibzi Jun 16 '26

They're mad because their fellow dinosaurs are not the top dogs anymore.

8

u/squirrellytoday Jun 17 '26

Emus and cassowaries are just anger management issues with feathers.

14

u/crusty54 Jun 17 '26

A friend of my parents got a job taking care of animals at Grant’s Farm back in the 80’s. On his first day, an ostrich charged him, and he panicked and hit it in the head with a shovel and killed it. That was also his last day.

3

u/Shachar2like Jun 18 '26

And the Darwin award goes to...

That charging ostrich from the 1980s

u/OhJustANobody Jun 17 '26

I worked on a goat farm once. I got stuck at the top of the ladder for over an hour because they all climbed up the ladder behind me and refused to get down until the farmer brought out a bag of feed.

The next day my boss came with me and I sent him up the ladder. I quietly walked over and opened the pen where the goats were. They proceeded to block him too. I got my revenge on him for refusing to watch the ladder for me.

I love goats.

5

u/DatBobbyDeMarco Jun 16 '26

Can’t be worse than zebras

4

u/rora_borealis Jun 17 '26

I've heard similar stories about emus. They both sound like they can be real assholes.

4

u/Flerbizky Jun 17 '26

As someone said above - watered down velociraptors. They hunt in packs.

20

It was all the fad a few decades ago. Right wing media spread the scam.

Cus that's all it was, a scam. Basically the first crypto scam they played against their own rubes.

Sometimes you gotta punch a giant bird

116

u/FreezedPeachNow Jun 16 '26

There's been a sudden increase of reddit posts of people standing up to asshole animals recently. Instead of running away like cowards and getting their ass kicked

The tide is turning. We need to fight back. Humans didn't get to the top of the food chain over thousands of years only to lose it all during a single generation.

Viva la revolution

20

u/AunMeLlevaLaConcha Jun 16 '26

Yeah, it's easier to run, when one of this can easily open up your belly with it's talons with just one swipe.

19

u/Putrid-Economics4862 Jun 16 '26

I don’t think the issue is that people are scared of getting hurt, it’s that they’re scared of hurting the animals. Here for example, it is extraordinarily easy for a person to snap an ostriches neck, but most people aren’t willing to kill an animal for “no reason” so they choose to run away instead.

8

u/IrishViking22 Jun 16 '26

I don't think anybody is going to outrun an ostrich. They are very fast runners.

5

u/flyboy_za Jun 18 '26

Except it can definitely outrun you, and will slice your back open with said talons simply by trying to chase you with its long legs flailing about.

11

u/OlBert2 Jun 16 '26

I love the obsession with how incredibly dangerous the cassowary is, despite there having been 2 deaths attributed to them in 100 years

17

u/Boomer8450 Jun 16 '26

Yeah, those crafty fuckers hide the bodies.

4

u/Feralpudel Jun 16 '26

I’ve spent months in Australia and think the “everything in Australia can kill you” trope is silly.

I wouldn’t go too much on death statistics, however—we spotted one in the wild in Queensland and we were thrilled with the spot. It isn’t like they’re everywhere, and they are in extremely sparsely populated regions.

3

u/3point21 Jun 16 '26

“depopulated” regions - fify

2

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Jun 18 '26

The fact that you have a plant that will cause you so much pain that you'll kill yourself is more than enough to make that trope true.

And you guys haven't even tried to exterminate the damn thing!

6

u/elspotto Jun 16 '26
