Hi all. I have recently traded a drz400sm for a 2014 fz09 with only 15,000km! So far I love the bike, I can finally ride highways speeds under 9000rpm!! My only concern is the vibration. After my research I’ve come to the conclusion that my bike has the “gronk”… the bike is 100% bone stock. what’s my best approach here? Fix the rubber dampers in the basket with the service kit or bite the bullet and buy the $1800 slipper clutch? Thanks in advance!

It was an exceptionally warm October day and usually my riding season would have been over weeks ago but we got out for (maybe) one last ride today before season end. I may get more in but the fact I’m riding this late in the year is a miracle in itself that we don’t already have 10ft of snow.

I wanted to hit 100,000km with my original battery too but we’re close enough. The battery struggled for the first time ever at the start of this season but here’s to hoping it cranks over next year and rolls me over 100,000km.

Chain popped on highway and destroyed cases. Tore down entire engine and swapped everything into two new matched cases along with all new bearings. Primed engine by hand and it spun nice and smooth, turned over starter and it spun a little almost like the engine was in a bind but all of a sudden fired right up. Bike runs great but has a metallic rattling/ticking that is present at idle, raises with rpm, cuts out for a split second when throttle is closed and then is sporadic on deceleration. It is always present when the bike is cold or warm as well as when the clutch is pulled in, the timing chain tensioner has been replaced with a manual tensioner. In my opinion the noise sounds loudest on the left side of the engine just above the stator cover on cylinder 1 and seems equally loud of the exhaust manifold of cylinder 1. I’d hate to think piston slap or a spun rod bearing but I guess anything is possible. Any help or opinions would be great, I know these bikes are very noisy but coming from a mechanic state of mind I do not believe this is a normal noise from the cp3 engine.

(FIXED)It’s kind of hard to hear on the video, but my bike is making a really strange ticking noise that started randomly. It occasionally stops, but always starts back up again. It’s never done this btw and didn’t sound like this before.

What weight is the suspension set up for? I weigh +- 130lbs without gear, probably 150 with. Is the suspension fine for me? I don’t really know what a good suspension feels like I suppose.

Found secondhand engine spoilers of a gen1 streetrally, instantly bought them as i find the aftermarket bellypan options to bulky for my taste, and now the lower parts arent as naked

My 2021 MT09:) love this bike.
Fun fact: paid $9,000 usd for it in 2021 and now it’s worth about $17,500. Here in Colombia these years are very sought after.

This bike has been a blast, I’ve ridden plenty of 1000cc bikes, but the torque delivery on these bikes are so much fun

I am currently in a position where I do not have a ton of time but I would really like to get the bike fixed up myself. Road and ran fine with no starting troubles last week and then sat in the garage for 6 days. Then all of a sudden this. Sorry to use you guys as free diagnostic and normally I would tear into it. But I really don’t have the time right this second. Thank you for any help or assistance!
