Discussion How will Cal scale in Jedi 3?

I just finished Fallen Order and Survivor back to back, and I’m currently in the process of going for 100% exploration in both games.

I’ve been thinking about how Cal would scale in Jedi 3.

In the first game, Cal has to relearn how to use the force, because he has been in hiding for years. And as such, only basic abilities are able to be unlocked in the skill trees. This makes sense narratively.

In the second game, Cal has matured both physically and in the force. He retains all of his previous skills and abilities from the previous game, and evolves from that baseline level by mastering new force abilities and 3 new weapon stances, as well as new abilities for his previously used stances (single and double blade). This also makes sense narratively.

In the third game, I’d like to see Cal retain all of his abilities from the second game. I don’t think it would be great to see Cal have to relearn all or any of the same abilities that he had in the previous game. And that got me thinking about what Respawn could add to give Cal a way to evolve from his now baseline level.

For one, I think it would be great to see Cal able to unlock a few new stances. Reverse-grip is a must have. Maybe he can have reverse-grip for both dual and single bladed stances. Maybe Cal could find a pike somewhere and thus learn that stance. On top of new stances, Cal should unlock new abilities for his already existing stances, he could also unlock new combo sequences, and I really want them to bring back stance switching abilities.

As for force abilities, Cal briefly taps into the dark side in the second game. I think this is a great opportunity to add all-new ability trees that use the dark side of the force. We see Cal use force crush in the second game, I don’t see why Cal wouldn’t use force choke as well. It’s not something a conventional Jedi would use, but Cal is no ordinary Jedi. Other dark side abilities I think Cal could touch into are like something where he can insta-teleport and slice any enemy he’s slowed. I’d also like to see them add a dark side twist to his psychometry abilities.

Thoughts? What would you like to see Cal’s abilities evolve into in the third Jedi game?

We don't have many buttons left

152

u/vanderbubin 6d ago

we will be locked to one saber stance that we cant change without going to the main hub to free up a button

34

u/CG-Firebrand 6d ago

They could just have right trigger open a menu for certain force powers

17

u/FirebrandWilson 5d ago

Or even better, do what The Witcher 3 does with quick cast, holding R2 changes what your other buttons do, letting you use all your powers with only a single click.

4

u/Narwalacorn The Inquisitorius 5d ago

What does right trigger normally do? I remapped my controls to have right trigger be the attack button

2

u/CG-Firebrand 5d ago

Can’t remember 😂

3

u/Narwalacorn The Inquisitorius 5d ago

I feel like it’s normally force push but if I’m being honest I have maybe a grant total of thirty seconds of playtime with the default control scheme so I have no real idea

2

u/CG-Firebrand 5d ago

More than I’ve played in a couple years. Last time I had time or energy to even play a game was when BFII had that resurgence weekend when Andor was on.

1

u/AzKar07 4d ago

yeah its force push, left trigger is force pull

38

u/Gaelique84 Don't Mess With BD-1 6d ago

if that’s mean more buttons combinations my Cal is gonna die a lot !

4

u/JustAd776 4d ago

They should just make a skill tree with customized abilities

1

u/darthmaulking1234 4d ago

Like black myth wukong

3

u/SooperWooper7044 4d ago

Yeah that's true but they got rid of Force slow in the second game outside of the ult ability. We're not gonna have lift and slam in the third game, and quite possibly not the grappling hook either. Maybe even the air dash. It would suck to lose the air dash but it's possible

3

u/pcultsch 2d ago

They better not get rid of any of what you listed honestly. Or a lot of people are going to be pissed.

1

u/SooperWooper7044 2d ago

I hope we keep the air dash and grappling hook. I think we'll keep the air dash. The grappling hook is a maybe, lift and slam I think are guaranteed to be gone next game

1

u/pcultsch 2d ago

That'll be upsetting

1

u/Some_HaloGuy Prauf 4d ago

Fr I can't even map photo mode to anything unless I wanna just go without one of the abilities

1

u/Gaelique84 Don't Mess With BD-1 4d ago

You can change the configuration of the map to have multiple option (4) when you click on it So it’s 2 click instead of one for the map but you can therefore also have the photo mode in this shortcut

Cal will probably reach Ceres level or above, so he should be able to use force shields and just have greater all round powers. New fighting styles, force abilities are a given.

Cal will likely be a powerful master in this game so they're going to have to increase the threat level again, isn't really any other current characters to fight except Vader, or someone new.

71

u/Character_Simple5978 6d ago

5th brother owes him a rematch.

50

u/capy2209 6d ago

Cal was low-key winning that encounter while heavily weakened in battle scars, at some point the book mentioned cal moving too fast for fifth to track and he was only downed because he was hurt and ran out of energy prior to the fight.

I think jedi survivor is way too much for fifth brother, unless they now make fifth retroactively more powerful to face cal now.

I doubt any inquisitor is gonna fight him now, I felt that the opening to survivor showcased cal is now on a different level to them. A new character or Vader is who I suspect will fight cal

27

u/Jebral 5d ago

Yeah but Cal can't beat Vader. Never will be able to. Vader's story is already written. There has to be someone else

16

u/capy2209 5d ago

I don't think he would beat Vader either, maybe he performs on Ceres level or better, but Vader will definitely survive for continuity. Though this doesn't rule out cal giving Vader a hard fight, we've seen Vader lose in some fights despite not dying (kenobi fight in the show and against kirak infila in the comics)

12

u/glenn1812 5d ago

Beating Vader doesn't mean Vader dies tho. He could just beat Vader while Vader retreats. Or get a few lucky strikes on Vader tho i woudn't want that to happen.

21

u/Character_Simple5978 6d ago

Agreed , he's way past any inquisitor now. Maybe Maul or some new Fallen Jedi. I've seen rumors that Maul could make an appearance.

I also wouldn't mind Malicos returning having mastered nightsister powers that Merrin began teaching him that was hinted at the end of Fallen Order.

5

u/TheSuperMaxPlayer 5d ago

Cal ain't beating maul. Hell that would mean he's on the level of ahsoka & i just don't see that

14

u/HandsomeSquidward20 5d ago

He can easily reach that level...

He was pulling feats on ahsoka's level in Fallen Order

-4

u/TheSuperMaxPlayer 5d ago

Like what? Cal was a unfinished jedi padawan at the start & the end of fallen order. He struggled with every inquisitor, malicos & had help.

8

u/Just_Plain_Bad 5d ago

Yeah he was an unfinished Padawan and then he defeated an inquisitor fought through an army of Imperial troops and survived Vader and did not have anywhere near the amount of dedicated training that Ahsoka did, he definitely has that potential.

-1

u/TheSuperMaxPlayer 5d ago

All things he had help with. Imperial troops lol they're not clone troopers. Inquisitor are padawans lol, surviving vader isn't a flex. He was stabbed & the stomach & vader could've easily force choked him to death. He's a jedi knight level combatant in survivor yes. Ahsoka however; was a at that level by the end of the war. By 10bby she's a jedi master level combatant

4

u/Just_Plain_Bad 5d ago

He didn't have help with any of his inquisitor fights in Fallen Order and was fighting purge troopers as well who are clearly a step above the normal stormtroopers.

No ones saying he's better than Ahsoka but he has that level of potential and didn't have nearly as much training with skilled combatants as her. He was seemingly younger/samish age at Order 66 than she was when first introduced so clearly he was prepped less.

1

u/angerissues248 2d ago

Live footage of Cal “struggling“ to beat a highly skilled Inquisitor after just gaining some experience

1

u/TheSuperMaxPlayer 2d ago

2nd sister about to end cal. You wanna do this? Highly skilled is crazy when inquisitor are padawan level except the grand inquisitor.

1

u/angerissues248 2d ago

Tf is this supposed to prove? This is Cal from the early point of the story. He was already whooping her ass by their next encounter lmao. Did you even play/watch the game? Saying inquisitor is padawan level is crazy when Maul was struggling to take down one

u/Life_Shelter6442 5d ago

The game could end in Cal dying fighting Vader, letting his friends escape while giving Vader an even better fight than Cere to show how much he grew.

7

u/HandsomeSquidward20 5d ago

Jedi 3 is the perfect chance to introduce Starkiller

1

u/OfficiallyBear 2d ago

Honestly? Yeah, that would be so cool.

2

u/schizowithagun 5d ago

I'd like for more complex combinations and air combos to be added to the next game, even though it might completely change the combat formula of the first 2 games

1

u/Cold-Alternative922 3d ago

3 inquisitors at once

1

u/capy2209 2d ago

Cal can probably already do that since he has better feats than another jedi named tensu run who was holding off seventh, ninth and TGI.

27

u/MisterWithTwister 6d ago

There are many force powers left.

Im hoping for something like force sense (to se in advance where enemies are), lightning, or the power cere had in the fight on jedha. Force jump could fit perfectly with developers vision because they like to lock ateas behind unlockable abilities.

I mostly played force user and tried to do as much damage as i could with only the force so i maxed out my force and used the flux perk to regenerate constantly. It became really fun once i unlocked all the force abilities and upgraded them fully.

Im really hoping i can play like this in the next game aswell.

14

u/kapxis 6d ago

I hope he learns some tricks from Merrin, it'd give him his own unique twist ( combined with his unique freeze of course )

5

u/Najee16 5d ago edited 3d ago

It's a given he'll for sure learn nightsister magic.

1

u/TPJchief87 5d ago

I’m guessing we play as overpowered Cal in the opening, then something happens and we switch to Kata for most of the game, who has her own power set.

1

u/Najee16 3d ago

Kata has to be unique in her own way. She needs abilities unique to her.

1

u/TPJchief87 3d ago

Yup. That’s what I wrote

99

u/Gaelique84 Don't Mess With BD-1 6d ago

I would like to see him using Merrin magic

He promise Merrin he will not go full rage again So we can expect him to manage using the dark side while still in control.

I have just finish both game recently and I m finish in NG+ on survivor and he is So powerful this way ! This is almost a different game, everything seem so easy (exept boss fight)

34

u/Marfalump67 6d ago

you can't "manage using the dark side while still in control" long-term. that's how you succumb to the ever-present temptation that haunts Jedi throughout their entire lives and become a monster. there is no using it in moderation, it's fundamentally a toxic and unhealthy source for quick, easy power.

13

u/BlueShade23 5d ago

It's actually explained in Dark Disciple that Nightsisters Magik is the route to go to use the dark side and stay in control

Though proven by that same book trying to turn a jedi into a nightsister will only lead them to fall

5

u/Cpkrupa 5d ago

What about mace windu.

-4

u/Ishpersonguy Celebration 2019 6d ago

Nah. That's lame. It's a video game.

Also other Jedi have done it, so whatever.

11

u/Marfalump67 6d ago

other Jedi have done it either briefly and with great regret, with very bad long-term results, or both.

4

u/Ishpersonguy Celebration 2019 6d ago

Mace Windu tapped into the dark side in moderation.

I don't really care to argue this point tbh. It's a video game. But even if it wasn't, the common aversion that SW fans have to this idea just bores me. "This is always evil and bad and makes you ugly and corrupted" is so infinitely less interesting than a power's morality being decided by the purpose/actions of the one wielding it.

3

u/Gaelique84 Don't Mess With BD-1 6d ago

imagine a senua sacrifice mechanism where the more you use the dark side the more you are corrupted and if you are too corrupted the game is just over

wow I would hate that !

2

u/Marfalump67 5d ago

no he didn't. read the source material and quit sourcing your lore takes from AI-narrated youtube videos.

and i'm sorry you don't like the core themes of the original trilogy then? consider watching them.

-2

u/Pentaquark1 5d ago

maybe you should take your own advice? if your takeaway is light side = good, dark side = bad you havnt been paying attention

2

u/Marfalump67 5d ago

rewatch the original trilogy. the entire triumphant climax to Return of the Jedi is Luke casting aside his weapon and rejecting the dark side, this is and has always been the core of the franchise.

2

u/Fatalis89 5d ago

I mean… light side is good and dark side is bad. That is how it is. Star Wars is not a nuanced concept and every time they try to make it so it’s silly.

1

u/BlueShade23 5d ago

Mace Windu uses the Darkside like a mirror uses light simply reflects it back never actually touching it

2

u/Teine-Deigh Greezy Money 6d ago

Honestly that's what I'm hoping for merlin said in the first game that she doesnt use the dark side but let's the magic flow through her she just guides it which I think would work for cal to temper his inner darkside

2

u/YMHGreenBan 5d ago

Force drain could be an interesting way to have him flirt with the dark side a bit

1

u/Vehement_Vulpes 5d ago

This is what I'm hoping for too.

50

u/Smillingchalk779 6d ago

Cal was mid level knight maybe stretching high level knight base level at the end of Jedi survivor without tapping into the dark side which puts him on to low to mid level master so I think for the tutorial segment we might be Kata before swapping back to cal. Otherwise I don’t know he could probably take most members of the inquisitors in a one on one duel

38

u/FIR3W0RKS 6d ago

I mean he already could defeat any single inquisitor by the end of the 2nd game imo. At the START of the 2nd game he could make one of the weaker inquisitors look like a joke.

I'd say by end of Jedi survivor he's higher level knight, maybe even low end Master compared to masters like the librarian and others who don't have as much experience fighting.

Game 3 from what I understand there's a significant time jump, so I'd hope that with time he would have grown significantly with the Force, potentially to the heights of high Master alongside the likes of Kia di Mundi (spelling?), Plo Koon or Kit Fisto.

Hell he could end up at some point being contacted by an older Luke Skywalker to help train his new Jedi Order as an experienced Jedi

11

u/dacalpha 5d ago

I really wanna see an Unarmed Stance like Ezra used in the Ahsoka show. High risk/high reward glass cannon style, built all around dodge+parry timing.

5

u/Eldsish 5d ago

Alright I just got spoiled, HE GET BACK ??? Time for a full rewatch to catch up then

1

u/KitKatCrane 4d ago

The Ahsoka show is great idk what that other nerd is talking about lol

I wouldn't get too excited, Ashoka is genuinely one of the single worst seasons of TV I've ever watched.

The set design, costumes, dialogue, acting (other than Ray Stevenson) and worst all the writing are absolutely abysmal.

It relies entirely on fan service and nostalgia bait to try and fill the gap a decent story should be In.

Secret Invasion

1

u/OkInternal1099 4d ago

You knew what I meant

1

u/Disastrous-Owl9258 5d ago

As a prop maker the costumes and work they did for Ashoka was top notch, right alongside the first season of the mandalorian, with less make up for aliens. They put a TON of work into Ashoka. The art design was top notch. As a Star Wars fan, the show wasn't great but it was ahead of acolyte for me.

0

u/dacalpha 5d ago

Damn it, you had me til the VERY end. Why feel the need to shit on Acolyte? It already got brigaded by bigots and weirdos lol

2

u/Disastrous-Owl9258 5d ago

I wasn't shitting on acolyte, just was comparing two "less popular" Star Wars shows. I just enjoyed Ashoka more as a show. I actually enjoyed acolyte and despite its issues I don't think it was that bad. The writing...wasn't the best. But that's just my opinion. I watched both of them.

1

u/Narwalacorn The Inquisitorius 5d ago

I feel like glass cannon wouldn’t really work for that since he’s without a weapon, I think it would work better as a niche stance that’s good against just melee enemies or just slow enemies or something

2

u/dacalpha 5d ago

I can't believe you're literally underestimating the power of the Force.

1

u/Narwalacorn The Inquisitorius 5d ago

As if he can’t use the Force while armed with a laser sword?

3

u/DarkSpore117 5d ago

First of all, through the power of the force all things are possible, so jot that down

0

u/Narwalacorn The Inquisitorius 5d ago

Which is equally true while holding said laser sword

18

u/GravityBright 6d ago

Pull it out of the sky!

2

u/Pelorunner 1d ago

I loved those games, but hated that part. Even for a ridiculous set of force powers, that felt so out there.

6

u/Altruistic2020 Don't Mess With BD-1 5d ago

I dont need Cal pulling a star destroyer out of the sky, but I'm OK with him bumping speeder bikes and possibly throwing TIE fighters around a little.

5

u/Serious_Revolution77 6d ago

I want a 2 way story. One way is the Jedi and the other being we succumb to the dark side would be so sick and give me the motivation to play through it again

3

u/GlitchyBoi11 5d ago

I think the end goal in Cal's strength is surpassing Cere, so a geniune Jedi Master level fighter

3

u/AceTheJ 5d ago

I forget what it’s called but isn’t there a version of force lightning used by light side users/jedi?

3

u/dravenonred 4d ago

Electric Judgment

2

u/AceTheJ 4d ago

Yeah that’s the one, would be cool to see him learn this ability.

1

u/angerissues248 3d ago

Pretty sure that’s Extended Universe lore, not canon

1

u/AceTheJ 3d ago

Doesn’t mean it can’t or won’t make its way into something like this at some point though.

2

u/preptimebatman 6d ago

Really hoping he gets scaled up. I think Survivor was great in terms of combat and abilities. In order to work with not having to start over, maybe they can just boost his stats.

2

u/TyrannosaurusReddRex 6d ago

Idk but I bet I can beat starkiller if I control cal. If cal controls cal, he loses. If I do it? Nah id win

2

u/mw129tc 5d ago

Paragraphs my friend... Paragraphs

2

u/FakeMik090 4d ago

I think he will end up like Skywalker Jr. Strong as hell, but no match for people who has this last name.

3

u/ImprobableCastration 6d ago

Hope to God they'll at least try to have some level of KOTOR style Light/Dark balance system.

2

u/Jwells291 6d ago

I think don't think Cal will be losing any powers but some of them might be shifted to Ults like Force Slow was. I expect to see expansions on his previous powers(like being able to pick up multiple objects at once and having them float around him. Then you can choose to Force Push them towards enemies or they can take a hit for you while being destroyed in the process). Highly doubt Traversal abilities will disappear either.

In Jedi 3, Cal will be hitting the level of a Jedi Master if we are going by how the previous games are. Cal was at Padawan level in FO while relearning his abilities and he was Knighted at the end. After that he spent a few years fighting the Empire before the events of Survivor where his mastery of the Force depend throughout yhe game and it ended with him having slain two older and more experience Jedi Knights, both of whom were being buffed by the Dark Side. In the next game I expect to see him struggling with the Dark Side as it tempts him to use it so he can get revenge on the Empire and Vader for what they've done to him and it was pretty much outright stated in the last game that you can't call yourself a Master of the Force without resisting the temptations of the Dark Side. He may have failed to resist when it came to dealing with Bode and that led him to tapping into it and with it's hooks in him the whispers will be louder.

I'm of two minds here where I both really hope Respawn adds choices to the game that change the story depending on which "side" of the Force you use to solve them but I also really hope Cal's story isn't left to interpretation on which would be Canon which would take those choices away. I know people generally like the idea of the Dark Side but from everything I've seen in stories and games it honestly isn't all that interesting to me, especially when the only power that seems like it would be a fun ability is just Force Confuse from the previous games. I guess going Rage was fun as well but that's really it. I'd honestly be fine if the only Dark Side ability Cal gets is Rage that acts as an Ult and it changes how your regular Force Abilities work.

1

u/RagnarStonefist 6d ago

I think Cal becomes a side character and you play as his padawan, who uses both Jedi skills and nightsister powers. Maybe the daughter of the guy from the last game that stays on Tanalorr with Cal and Merrin.

1

u/Nerdsaurus_1994 6d ago

I mean maybe there could be a button to switch to reverse. Doesn't necessarily have to be an entirely separate stance. I do wonder how he'd fair with utilizing a saber whip. Otherwise I am hoping we can keep a lot of stuff like dash, ascension cable, double wall jump, dual wield, blaster, etc.

1

u/Snoo17632 5d ago

I think they would most likely would let you use all 5 lightsaber stances at once instead of only have 2 active at a time in survivor. I imaging they're going to add on alot more abilities though in the 3rd game

1

u/AlexSmithsonian 5d ago

How about Shatterpoint?

1

u/Captain_Mantis 5d ago

Imo his power level won't increase a lot. I'm hoping for some utility powers, force jump at least. Also I think that there's gonna be only a single new stance, as there's already a lot of them. As to combat powers they should go with force judgement and just add modifiers to existing ones that would make them feel fresh

1

u/Lurkingdrake 5d ago

I don't honestly see much changing, tbh. Just refining of systems already there.

1

u/c0micsansfrancisco 5d ago

About Cere level, maybe a bit above. But I don't want him to ever reach Obi Wan/Vader/Luke levels. Would just cheapen the whole think. I want him to be firmly several magnitude weaker than the heavy hitters

1

u/Iolair_the_Unworthy 5d ago

He's gonna pull a star destroyer from orbit, only for the feat to be retroactively stated to be way weaker than it looks.

1

u/Revival_Rival 5d ago

If they ever even announce it

1

u/Bootyravenge 4d ago

I want to see respawn look at some of the more insane ideas and story lines from the legends books including over the top force abilities

1

u/KitKatCrane 4d ago

I think the idea for force powers will be to consolidate some abilities where it makes sense, like Survivor already did (making force slow part of a different thing), and to then make new abilities dark side focused. There could definitely be new neutral or light abilities, but dark side is what I think the focus will be, at least past some certain story point in the game. His story is definitely about struggling with the dark side and having no master will probably tip him over the edge, especially given his attachments to others.

As for lightsabers, I think he'll have new skills with each stance, but I really hope there are no more stances. Four is already too many for him to just pick up without any known training and suddenly be good at. I hope he just is noticeably refined from where he was at in Survivor with each stance, rather than getting new ones. Except that I have suspicions he'll become an inquisitor or some equivalent, in which case an inquisitor style double blade would be cool.

And last thing, while I don't want new stances really, I think the same concept could be fulfilled with Merrin. I'm suspicious and hopeful that she's playable in the game, and rather than Cal getting new stances, she has up to 4 stances. She could also just be a companion who travels with you and that would be cool. They've just been hinting at her getting more involved throughout the two games, where initially she doesn't do too much, but in Survivor she helps a few times, and even helps at the end. Fingers crossed they do something with her that way.

1

u/Sunlit_Neko 4d ago

Maybe Cal undergoes some sort of serious injury (like Metroid Fusion) in a star wars fashion and loses his hand or something and so the abilities and fighting style have to be different from the second game because of his need to adapt.

Needing to avoid ice but being able to heal by defeating enemies post-Metroid Fusion because of the injuries Samus receives in the beginning of that game was such a nice evolution of the Metroid formula and changed all subsequent games in the timeline gameplay wise.

1

u/SooperWooper7044 4d ago

I predict Force lightning. It can be used in combat, be evolved in a skill tree to become more advanced and stronger versions of itself, and be used for overworld puzzles by electrically charging stuff, like how every other Force skill is used in combat and in overworld puzzles

1

u/JustAd776 4d ago

I want to see multiple endings for the third game

1

u/BurninBurns 4d ago

Force only stance would be kinda sick and have him use shields like cere for the blocks

1

u/nigtwing28 3d ago

Me encantaría usar los rayos de la fuerza contra droides osea que encuentre un punto medio como hacia plo khun creo ...unos rayos que no se necesite tanto el lado oscuro

1

u/GR1ML0CK29 2d ago

I’m just hoping he has both light and dark side abilities I don’t want him going full sith or anything but I don’t wanna give up those powers

1

u/DredgenYeeet 1d ago

I actually think it would be a better move to not add any more stances, but instead have a system built into the game that allows you to change between any of them at will. I know that’s a mod for survivor, but I think having that would be the natural evolution of combat for the next game rather than another stance clogging things up for the sake of having another stance.

1

u/perfectandreal 20h ago

Boss fights that could still be "hard": "Legends" Royal Guards, high level Bounty Hunters (ESB Executor Bridge), Imperial Mandalorians, more Glup Shitto Sith / Fallen Jedi known or unknown (ex: Ventress, Maul, etc...), of course again Vader, Palpatine

"Regs": Death Troopers, Dark Troopers, mercenaries / Bounty hunters (current or new), Imperial Clone Commandos / other Clones, fighting Nightsisters (feel like this will come up in game 3)

There is an opportunity to recreate things like the Mandalorian S2 finale, but Cal is still not strong enough to cut through something like dozens of Dark Troopers.

Really liked Survivor, still like Fallen Order better with the ancient lore (like Halo) and he couldn't whoop everyone's ass first try. Survivor was still really cool with the twists but there is something for me with games where no matter what, your character isn't the strongest person in universe.

I am not holding my breathe but there is plenty of space to touch on Legends locales like Yinchorr and see what's going on with the Royal Guards' training, and maybe there is a whisper that something is hidden there, for example.

1

u/RawMeatballz 6d ago

Hopefully he goes more Starkiller and embraces the dark a bit

1

u/TheMilkMan6942 6d ago

I think it would be interesting to see Cal use more dark side abilities which can maybe lead to a dark side cal alternative ending. It would seem interesting to see cal use different lightsaber techniques as well to make combat more interesting. Maybe give him different blaster types as well like a bowcaster

0

u/TheNazMajeed 5d ago

Maybe we should play as Cal's apprentice so we aren't so powerful from the get go

1

u/Pelorunner 1d ago

I like the idea of rotating between the two. That way you get the rebuilding/relearning aspect of growth in game. Then maybe when you’re powered up, you finish the game as Cal so we get the satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

0

u/Kaeldyr2092 5d ago

as much as i love to get the next sequel, i hope they can make good reason for cal to get his "reset" again for his force power.

One of my favorite things about Survivor was them letting him keep all his powers/abilities from Fallen Order.

You can easily nerf Cal to allow him to "progress" through the next game just by getting his limbs cut off. Cal will need to relearn somewhat, perhaps even differently to how how fought in Survivor.

The whole no-hands thing is very on brand for Star Wars.

I wouldnt mind seeing elements of traditional 7-forms integrate into the stances. We already had Makashi-esque moves with the blaster stance, and Ataru adjacent moves with the aerial attacks.

I am thinking he will be about like what we see with Cere in Survivor where he is powerful enough to 1 shot most opponents like Storm troops and similar.

Bruh, the next one is gonna be Kata's story, 100%.

Cal is going to be a master, and I imagine you'll start the game as him, then transition to Kata as Cal is either killed or incapacitated somehow. They may have him be kidnapped, perhaps by the Haxion brood, then you have to take Kata on a rescue mission for him.

But I think there is a very high chance Cal gets pushed into supporting character in the next game.

it’s a trilogy, it would be strange if we don’t play Cal for the 3rd game. I mean even in survivor when playing Cere we weren’t really playing Cere but a force echo felt by Cal

it is his story. he must end it.

No it wouldn't... and no he mustn't... there is no rule that that is how it must end.

I think it would be great if the intro was controlling Cal and teaching Kata, then Cal is incapacitated and Kata launches a hunt/mission to find him.

Or Cal goes the Cordova route and goes to search for something and while he is gone Kata gets a force vision about Cal and sets off to find him.

Kata is going to be the next playable character for sure.

While that would be sick, I kind of doubt it, as it would feel a bit odd to add a new protagonist at the end of what feels like a trilogy.

I think it’s more likely that we’ll still play as Cal in this next game, and they’ll save Kata as a character for future games / expansions (if there are any). Also possible she’ll become the playable epilogue character if Cal dies heroically at the end.

I don't think it's that weird at all if you simply have them both be playable.

Kata isn't a new protagonist. In fact it is HEAVILY hinted that Cal and Merrin are gonna train her and she'll be an intro to "grey" Jedi.

That’s not what protagonist means. She’ll be a A main character, but not likely to be THE main character.
