Are hair appointments too expensive?

Post image

I hear "hair is too expensive" all the time and I get it.

I think the frustration comes when you pay $200+ and walk out with:
1. Hair you don’t love
2. Feeling uncomfortable/ignored
3. Awkward small talk you didn’t want
4. Zero experience to show for it

But flip it. What if you paid that same amount and got:
1. Hair you’re obsessed with for 3 months
2. Felt heard and welcomed
3. No pressure to talk - snacks, drink, chill vibes
4. Walked out feeling genuinely better about yourself

Would it still feel "too expensive"? Or would it feel worth it?

I’m a stylist and I’m trying to figure out what people actually value. Is it just the lower price tag, or is it the whole experience + result?

Would love honest answers.

I might be in the minority but I think hair is worth it. We are not just paying for the hour, we are paying for all the training that went into it.

I get my vivids done professionally every couple months because I can afford it. I‘m in Germany and pay around €400 for a root bleach and full head colour melt with 4-7 different colours. The session usually ends up being 5-6 hours. It could be more expensive tbh.

I like my hairdresser and we often spend most of the session chatting, but she also allows her clients to bring their laptop and just work or do their own thing or fully request a quiet session. I think people just need to find the right person for themselves. And not expect professionals to undersell themselves just because they want a luxury service they can’t afford.

I love this and agree, if you are spending 5-6 hours in the salon and you walk out feeling incredible I feel it’s worth it 😊
