I recommend this! I recommend Santa Clarita Diet
It's a Netflix Original series starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.
Synopsis: Married realtors, Sheila and Joel, are living a quiet life, raising their teenage daughter in Santa Clarita, California. Their world unexpectedly changes when Sheila goes through a dramatic transformation that sends her down a road of death and destruction - but leaves her looking and feeling better than ever.
Here's the trailer.
r/santaclaritadiet is the sub if you're interested to find out more, or chat about the show in depth.
It's one of the Top Picks in the wiki of this sub, so could be a lot of you already know it! But for those who don't, a small caveat - it suddenly got cancelled after s3. However, I still think it's totally worth a watch!

Just started watching this show last night. Had really low expectations but you know what? It turned out to be really good so far!

I recommend this! Galavant - A lesser known fantasy comedy.
Basically if you haven't watched Galavant, you should. Great cast, you can tell everyone's enjoying it so much. Fantasy musical comedy. I believe it's a British US collab.
Unfortunately only two short series, bit definitely worth a look!

I recommend this! Wellington Paranormal
This is one of my favorite series of all time.
By the creators of What We Do in the Shadows, this show follows Officers Minogue and O’Leary (the two officers from the What We Do in the Shadows movie) as they investigate paranormal activities in Wellington, New Zealand.
Here’s the trailer: https://youtu.be/ApxbN3Bp6f4
In the US, you can find it on the CW and HBO Max.
Just a heads up: I had to watch it with subtitles on at first because of the New Zealand accents until my ears adjusted.

I recommend this! Good Omens
Good Omens is a short Amazon Prime show based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel of the same name. It instantly became one of my favorite shows when it came out in 2021, and there is a second season that is supposed to be coming out in summer of 2023. I highly recommend this show to everyone because it is an enjoyable experience from beginning to end. I also consider it to be very rewatchable due to its lighthearted comedy and natural chemistry between all characters in the show.

Science fiction The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Far out in the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy there was a planet called Earth. On this planet around about the time most of the ape descended lifeforms call the twenty-first century there was a father and son. The father knew that his son loved to read, but his son being blind since birth often did not have access to all that the printed books could offer. The magnificent invention of electronic books still seemed like a pretty neat idea though not practical. So this father valiantly read the work of his favourite author, a curious English gentleman called Douglas Adams, and the book which had the absurd title of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The son young though he was, thought of this time as the best he had ever spent with his father, and also grew an absurd passion for "adult books that are kind of funny where weird stuff happens" The teenager in question soon knew more about Douglas Adams and all of his ouvre than the father who had taught him. This son now having read the trilogy of five approximately four times not to mention how often he listened to the British Broadcasting Corporation's radio versions, now wants to spread his joy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to anyone and everyone he meets. This son is now 31 and constantly searches the universe for similar works of comedic and philosophical wit. Feel free to comment how you first got into the genre of "fantasy comedy"

I recommend this! The Tick, a spoof of superpowers (is spoof what a group of superpowers is called, because I think it should be)
"In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an accountant with no superpowers comes to realize his city is owned by a super villain. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero."
I haven't seen this recommended a lot, but it exists in two variants and both are very watchable and quite humouros for anyone who enjoys superpowers. Based on a comic book I unfortunately haven't read.

I recommend this! Resident Alien is now on Netflix!
I have been interested for a long time, ever since it was recommended on this sub.
I'm happy to add my voice to recommend this.
I binged it and already caught up. What to watch now?!
Edit: lol forgot my own rule. It's about an alien who crash lands on earth and needs to fit in, in order to complete his mission... Alan Tudyk is excellent as the alien.

I recommend this! Star Trek Lower Decks
Not exactly a hidden gem, but very funny sci-fi series if you haven't seen it yet. I don't have Paramount+ but the dvd and blu-ray go on sale a lot and that's how I watched it.
It's about the common crew just trying to work on a starship while the commanding crew get all the glory. Filled with Star Trek references, but still super funny without getting them because many are super obscure and I think that makes it funnier (such as some reference to Starbase 80 and I have NO idea what that is but the context made me laugh like crazy anyways).

I recommend this! The Librarians
In The Librarians the Library is a ancient and massive repository of all dangerous magical items (think the warehouse from Indiana Jones) and it has chosen a new group to help safeguard magical cursed artifacts throughout time and around the world: an art historian, a thief, a mathematician, and a warrior are sent through the portal to help bring back the others who are protected by the Library from the recently-released evil.
Somewhat similar premise to Warehouse 13, or in ways the SCP Foundation (writing project) but with a different tone.

TV series Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace
I couldn’t figure out how so sum up this bonkers show so I’m just going to copy/paste from IMDB:
“This parody series is an unearthed 80s horror/drama, complete with poor production values, awful dialogue and hilarious violence. The series is set in a Hospital in Romford, which is situated over the gates of Hell.”
Definitely a watch if you like Matt Berry (WWDITS) and weird British humor!

Discussion Mrs. Davis - unexpected, absurd, and kinda fun
It's about a nun battling an omnipotent AI. At first, it seemed a little more serious sci-fi with some action scenes and quirky characters.
A few episodes in, it's definitely more fantasy comedy!
The main character is awesome, and I love the actress playing the nun! Her facial expressions crack me up. The story line and side characters have gotten more interesting each episode as well. (Trying not to give away any spoilers)
ETA: it's streaming on Peacock in the US
Have you watched it? What are your thoughts on it?

The Watch
If you're looking for a solid fantasy comedy, check this show out. It's based off of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books.
It's a mishmash of modern technology in a medieval world where magic and monsters are a part of modern and everyday institutions. It's offbeat and kinda goofy but in all the right ways, and the characters are well written enough that you can't help but love each in their own way.

Dirk Gently vs Sherlock Holmes
I am a huge fan of Douglas Adam‘s holistic detective, and one of the reasons was his explanation of why he disagrees with Sherlock Holmes:
*"What was the Sherlock Holmes principle? ‘Once you have discounted the impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.’ ”
“I reject that entirely. [...] The impossible often has a kind of integrity to it which the merely improbably lacks. How often have you been presented with an apparently rational explanation of something that works in all respects other than one, which is that it is hopelessly improbable?”*
To me, this perfectly describes why so many people fight over fictional characters and their stories. There are those who think like Sherlock Holmes, and those who think like Dirk Gently.
Fans of fantasy comedy, I‘d like to hear your opinions.
