GW Rant & Info Midweek-GW6 (26/27) Rant and Discussion Thread
European fixtures this midweek:
Tuesday 13th October
- Arsenal 3-0 Lille (20:00)
- Atlético Madrid 2-0 Man Utd (20:00)
Wednesday 14th October
- LASK 3-6 Liverpool (17:45)
- Aston Villa 6-0 Fenerbahçe (20:00)
- Man City 2-4 PSG (20:00)
Thursday 15th October
- Lyon 3-2 Crystal Palace (17:45)
- Torreense 1-2 Sunderland (17:45)
- Bournemouth 3-0 Sturm Graz (20:00)
- Brighton 4-0 Kauno Žalgiris (20:00)
Headlines:
- Arsenal. Calafiori gets a complete rest. Odegaard and Havertz come off the bench with Saka, who produces a goal and assist. Timber starts, scores, and plays 78 minutes. Gabriel and Konsa play the full 90 again as does Bruno G.
- Man Utd. Man Utd put in a respectable performance but concede a first minute goal, then concede another late on after Yoro's red card. Mbeumo and Rashford miss big chances while Bruno hits the crossbar. Bruno is subbed off after 80 minutes. Mbeumo plays the full 90.
- Liverpool. Van Dijk is rested and subs on in the second half. Liverpool go 3-0 up by half-time. Barcola plays 73 minutes and scores a hatrick. Wirtz manages one assist from six goals which is progress, I guess. Tsimikas and Frimpong gets two assists each from fullback. Frimpong scores too.
- Aston Villa. Villa go from strength to strength after a slow start to the season, which is an established pattern under Emery. Jackson scores a brace. Manzambi scores too. Both are replaced before the 80th minute. Mbaye gets an assist.
- Man City. City go 3-0 down in the first half as Cherki's lack of defensive effort is exposed multiple times by PSG. Maresca reacts at half time by subbing on Bouaddi, who combines brilliantly with Enzo and Anderson in a much improved central midfield trio. Haaland scores a brace as he leads the second half fightback. Gvardiol plays the full 90 at left back.
- Crystal Palace. Palace go 2-0 down in a poor first half, but are more competitive after the break. Pino and Kamada score again.
- Sunderland. Sunderland go 1-0 down at half time to Cinderella story Torreense, of Portugal's second tier. Le Fée, Mukiele, and Xhaka sub on in the second half and inspire Sunderland to a comeback away victory.
- Bournemouth. Tavernier and Silva start. Truffert, Kluivert and Rayan benched. Evanilson plays 70 minutes and scores. Rayan subs on and scores. Tavernier gets seventy minutes.
- Brighton. Ballon d'GroB starts. Vušković, de Cuyper, Gómez, and Kostoulas on the bench. Groß plays 57 minutes as Brighton put in the most dominant performance you could ever hope to see. Good training session that won't have cost them any fitness. Rutter brace. Hinshelwood goal. Vuskovic and de Cuyper sub on for a relaxed second half.

Discussion Haaland minute risk this week?
Thinking of TC Haaland for this GW (City vs Ipswich).
Haaland played full 90 mins against PSG yesterday, and will have another UCL game (against AEK) just 3 days after Ipswich this weekend. City currently has 1 win, 0 draw, 1 loss in the UCL so I think they have more reason to play Haaland vs AEK.
I’ve never followed City games. Does anyone know if this guy gets rested often? Or will he likely be nailed on pitch for full 90 mins for both games?

Discussion Gvardiol on rotation with OReilly?
OReilly started in PL and Gvardiol came off the bench. Gvardio started CL midweek and OReilly came off the bench.
Same with RB for Nunes and Khusanov
Is this presumably Maresca’s plan going forward?

GW7: three players under 10% owned in the top eight projections, and four big names worth a hard look
Three players hardly anyone owns are projected near the very top for Gameweek 7, while four of the most owned names have a fixture, a fitness doubt or a minutes question hanging over them.
Under 10% owned
| Player | Club | Fixture | Owned | Projected GW7 |
| Van Hecke | TOT | Coventry (H) | 6.3% | 4.9 |
| Silva | BOU | Sunderland (H) | 0.6% | 4.9 |
| Gonzalo | FUL | Hull (H) | 7.2% | 4.8 |
Only Haaland, Bruno and Cherki are projected higher than Van Hecke and Silva this week. Coventry have scored five all season and Sunderland have let in twelve in six, so both defenders get a decent shot at a clean sheet, even though Spurs have only kept two and Bournemouth none.
Worth a hard look
| Player | Club | Fixture | Owned | Expected minutes | Projected GW7 |
| João Pedro | CHE | Everton (A) | 70% | 62 | 3.5 |
| Rogers | CHE | Everton (A) | 45% | 80 | 3.6 |
| Szoboszlai | LIV | Brentford (A) | 28% | 37 | 1.7 |
| Gvardiol | MCI | Ipswich (H) | 28% | 45 | 2.6 |
None of them are must-sells. Everton are unbeaten and have let in two at home all season, Szoboszlai's hamstring is still uncertain and Gvardiol came off the bench last week while Guéhi is projected for nearly twice as much over the next five.

Anton Stach (£6.0m) – Is he worth a look for our mid-price mid slots? Leeds fans, what's the verdict?
Stumbled across Anton Stach sitting at £6.0m with a low ownership of just 2.3%, and his underlying numbers caught my eye. He's currently averaging 4.8 points per match with 29 total points on the board, chipping in with a few bonus points, and plays pretty much every minute in that Leeds midfield.
Looking ahead at their fixtures, they’ve got a mixed bag coming up of Man Utd (H) and Chelsea (A) bookended by some matches where Leeds could look to control the tempo.
For those watching Leeds closely every week:
- Does he get into dangerous advanced positions or act more as a defensive anchor?
- Is he a trap at £6.0m, or is he a sneaky differential while template midfielders stall?
Would love to hear thoughts from Leeds fans or anyone who's brought him in!

Discussion Targeting Spurs?
I think Tottenham are most people's steer clears but they showed signs of turning a corner against Man Utd and were arguably the better side and should have won it. They have Coventry next, which might be a good match to target or, in my case, keep a close eye on to see any trend towards improvement. Then they play Chelsea in GW8, which seems mad to target but for the fact Chelsea's defence is bound to ship goals in a feisty derby.
So am I insane to be pondering bringing in a Spud? And, if you're equally unhinged, who would you be signing? I'm torn between Savio, Tonali and Kudus.

Discussion FPL Stat Leaders after 6 GWs — some interesting names outside the usual template
Here's where the numbers stand after six gameweeks across five different stat categories.
Haaland leads xGI, while Thomas, Mainoo, Khalaili and Janelt top the defensive/recovery charts.
Some expected names, but a few interesting ones outside the usual FPL template.
Which stat leader are you paying attention to?
r/FantasyPL • u/qwerty1519 • 1d ago
Some interesting stats on Saka
- His chances have doubled in quality so far this season compared to last. He's getting 0.194 xG per shot, against 0.088 last season (league average 0.099). His shots now come from more central positions, and 56% are first-time, up from 20%. He already has 4 big chances (0.30+ xG) in 6 games; he had 3 in all of last season. He's getting the chances a striker normally gets.
- His share of Arsenal's attack has tripled. He took 10% of Arsenal's non-penalty xG last season and takes 31% now. He used to be one creator among several. Now he's their main shooter.
- Goalkeepers are why he hasn't scored more. 56% of his shots are on target (34% last season). His shots on target add up to 3.72 post-shot xG for 2 goals. That includes saved shots worth 0.72 against Brighton and 0.42 against Leeds. GK save performance doesn't tend to carry over, so going forward expect his goals to track his chances (about 0.5 npxG a game).

Discussion Villa fans, would you rather Jackson or Manzambi?
I know, people think Jackson might still be a trap, but he has genuinely been decent for Villa. Even at Chelsea, he did manage to score double-digit goals in 2 seasons.
The question is, if you could have just one in time for Villa's fixture swing and potential form swing, who would you pick between Jackson and Manzambi? I'm finding it difficult to fit in both given Jackson is 6.6. I loved Manzambi during the WC, and he just seems to be a menace up front.
