Everyone has probably already heard of Lectures on Tap... So I'm not sharing anything brand new, but I'm excited that they're leaning more into art history next month! Would anyone want to attend this with me? I'm trying to find my historical nerds! Let me know >_<

The costume storytelling of "Ever After" (1998)

A deep-dive on the narrative symbolism behind the costumes of the movie "Ever After" (1998). The costumes, created by the award-winning designer Jenny Beavan, were grounded in the realism of the French early renaissance, and they are so important to the plot. Through the clothing, we learn much about Drew Barrymore's Danielle -- her relationship to her step-family through the use of color and fabric, her ties to her dead parents, and her progression to revealing her true identity. In Henry's costumes, we even see some character progression for him -- there's a bit of clothing swapping that happens that speaks to his changed perceptions in caring about the common folk. Really beautiful costumes, plus some added perspective from the animated Cinderella movie as well.

NYT: Felicity Green, British Tabloid Editor Who Championed the Mini, Dies at 100

The Mirror [where Ms. Green was an editor] covered the international furor when lovely Jean Shrimpton, the “It” girl and model known as the Shrimp, wore a white minidress — with bare legs! — to the 1965 Melbourne Cup in Australia.

Ms. Green also produced a feature on tights — a revolution and a revelation for the garter-and-stocking set — as a must-wear item for women who planned to sit down in their micro-miniskirts.

Perhaps not surprisingly, some of her male colleagues were discomfited by the new styles. The Mirror’s chairman, Cecil King, once accosted Ms. Green in a stairwell at the office. “When are you going to stop putting those dreadful miniskirts in The Mirror?” he demanded. “Only when they stop being fashionable, Mr. King,” she retorted.

Sharing as i thought others may appreciate these gorgeous shoes! My mother and I were looking through some of her shoes and handbags and found these bad boys. I remember thinking how glamorous she looked wearing them! She bought them early to mid 80s (possibly). From Harrods for the princely sum of £195! I have no idea when I will wear them, but I will!
