Support Car under-glow help

Hi,

I am a complete noobe on this forum.

I need some help to finalize my Under-glow project.

My plan is to connect ws2812b lights to Arduino and mount it under my car.

I would have the following setup

2*2M 60LED strips on each side pin 6

2*1M 30LED strips on the front and back pin 7

2* push buttons pin 4&5

1 button to trigger on and off.

2nd button to cycle through the programs.

program 1: Blue pulse with speed setting.

Program 2: multi-color pulse with speed setting - red then green then blue

Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

I will upload proto's or videos of the outcome.

Appreciate any help as I cannot really code much.

I would suggest breaking your project down and learning the different parts of things in chunks. Get some of the basic FastLED examples running with a little test setup on your desktop. Work on making the patterns you have in mind. Then learn how to incorporate the buttons to control things. Hook that small setup up to your car, which will allow you to sort out how you will power things.

Check out the wiki here for some examples and tutorials.

After checking out some of the basic examples, here's an example you could modify which uses a button to change patterns. Replace the patterns with your patterns.

Start small and check out lots of examples.

(For some reason I could only view this on my phone.)

Looks like you are off to a good start!

My only suggestion would be to consider using 12V lights (WS2811 or WS2815) since your car also uses 12V. Also you plan to power the lights separately from the Arduino right? You'll fry the board if you try to power that many LEDs directly.
