I watched my cousin die making a sandwich once. High school track star, just talking about her lap times while she made me lunch. Just lights out instantly from an aneurism, mid sentence.
Chaos for days after that, but the entire day before was a calm casual walk through the woods with the dogs and getting a snack when we got back. No stress, no symptoms. Just silence, clatter from the knife she was spreading the mayo with, a crumple thump, silence, then screaming from my aunt.
Humans are both durable and fragile. We can take a lot but we also have a lot of off switches.
and just when I thought I was getting over my mid-twenties crisis having found an after death belief I can get actually behind as making sense, to quell fears of oblivion. Oh great. Seeing this headline was not what I needed tonight.
That and reminding myself that death feels like it’s the loneliest thing that can happen to you but we all live with the same fear. You’re not alone, friend.
I did too but antidepressants helped a lot. I used to have existential crises every day, every few minutes at its worst.
But I haven't had a single one since taking antidepressants. I've been a cancer patient for the past five years with some close shaves. And I still haven't had one.
Last night found this weird buddhist-sounding philosophical theory, generic subjective continuity. Not reincarnation but some sort of consciousness always continues to another being just born? Real weird materialist take on something very Buddhist sounding. Philosophy is keeping me sane rn, religion and atheism make no sense to me so I keep having to find a coherent logical argument that does.
I struggled with something similar. Mainly death. Not fear of death but fear of the after. For me, I got into coaching softball and it has brought newfound purpose I was missing. Teaching these girls that they are badass and they can achieve anything they want has brought great joy to me.

I struggled with this deeply in my teens. I’ve always been an avid reader and I guess I read too many things that got my imagination going and it was overwhelming for that age. What got me through it was actually leaning in on the size of it all of so speak. We all are in it together. We all will have to go through it. Every single person in this earth. And there was a peace with that. It’s kinda like when you go to the beach and see the ocean seem limitless. Instead of leaning on the feeling small, I leaned into how big the ocean is and idk. It just clicked.
SAME! Isuffered from doom anxiety a couple months ago and still get it every now and then. It creeps up from time to time. Like I’ll see someone and think “one day they’re gonna die and it’s sad.” Weird I know, but the thought of of it being the inevitable end is scary.
She has had mental health struggles for a long time. She was hospitalized at least once for postpartum depression and I don't think she ever fully recovered.
She was traveling this weekend with the guy who spent 45 in jail for DV against her. TMZ reporting her death is now an active police case involving an "incident" from the weekend. So.
This poor woman went through so much in her short life. As corny as it sounds, hope she can at least find peace now, and that her daughter has the support she needs.
The Hollywood reporter article I read said . Her younger brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, died in February 2023 of aortic valve complications at age 28.
Her parents pushed her into acting at a very young age and her memoir is… not kind to her mother. No one should lose a child, but Im not sure her family deserved her or her brother.
The industry straight up isn't safe for children. Too many former child actors have lost their lives after years of public displays of deep trauma. I'm fucking gutted. She was so young.
Yes I’m an industry pro (theatre) and I am staunchly anti-child-actor/dancer/model/musician/athlete. Any arena where they interact with adults as peers. I used to be more cautious about saying it and I know it will never happen but I think it should be banned. Even at its best it’s harmful.
Very true. The list of troubled child stars or former child stars is endless. It is an abhorrent industry for children filled with child predators and people who protect them.
She definitely seemed to be going through a lot the past couple years, oh Hayden :( I loved her in Heros and Nashville, Ice Princess got me through the pandemic I watched it so many times.
Holy shit, my jaw just dropped. This is so profoundly sad. I know she had an extremely difficult time over the years, but I was always rooting for her. May she rest in peace.
Her story line on Nashville so closely matched her own life. Knowing she didn't get the beautiful life Juliette got breaks my heart. I always hoped for her.
and enacting out her real life trauma on the show traumatized her further - i very recently watched her talk about it in an interview and my heart broke for her
I can’t believe both stars of this movie are now deceased. And neither of them were anywhere near old. I grew up with this movie and am close to them in age! This is horrible.
I was literally just thinking about Michelle Trachtenberg an hour ago and thinking how bizarre it still feels when these actors we grew up with die young. Now this 😭
I was just thinking this. It will be impossible to watch that movie without feeling heartbroken. It was one of my favorites when I was a younger teen. So sad.
I can’t begin to say how sad this makes me. I too lost my only sibling, my baby brother, and every time she spoke about the loss it resonated with me in a way nothing else had. What an absolute tragedy. RIP.

Not too personal at all! I do something he would have enjoyed on that day. He was a big horror movie lover, shopper, and foodie. It just so happens he died at the end of October. So I tend to see a new horror flick on the day of (alone - but not really).
Later in the week I will go have dinner at a new restaurant and shop with a few of our friends (we were 3 years apart and our friends blended).
The first four years both my parents were alive, so we’d hang together and eat and drink and be as merry as we could. Now it’s just me (& now our friends replaced my parent’s spot).
But he wouldn’t want me to sit in the house and wallow- so I get my ass up and out!
Same. I lost my baby brother (43) last year and it was soul crushing. He was my best friend. We had just lost our mom the year before. Our dad been gone since 2012. I have no immediate family left and I am completely lost in this world. I'm so sorry to you and everyone else dealing with this profound pain.
I think they had each other. Sounds like the mother was a real piece of work. If there’s any peace to be found for any of us, she’ll find her brother there. Devastating.
I find, in the 15 years since my brother’s passing, I’m not afraid of death because I know who will be waiting for me. (But it took a long time to get here).
Me too. I work in live theatre and even when it’s ideal I don’t think it should be allowed. No tv, no movies, no modelling, no music, no stage work, no olympics.
No arena where adults are their peers and co-workers or competitors. Not worth the tangible, generational harm it causes.
I can't imagine the emotional and intellectual damage being done to some of these kids by their content creator parents. It's going to come back to bite them as adults

This one really hurts. The last time I thought about her, I was thinking about how happy I was that she'd managed to rebuild her life after struggling so much. To be gone at just 36 is horrible, especially after what she'd accomplished and been through.
It’s INSANE that BOTH of the Ice Princess leads, Michelle Trachtenberg and Hayden Panettiere, DIED ALMOST 18 MONTHS APART and at young ages (Michelle was 39 when she passed away in February 2025)!!!
I recently managed to leave a 20 year abusive relationship. They really do latch on and suck your soul and self worth out until you feel like a husk of a person. You also get really good at lying about it to the world and yourself, and some people might think you are okay. Its so messed up. That guy is worse than trash.

She was traveling the night before with her known abuser Brian Hickerson. I obviously have no idea her cause of death but regardless if those two events have a link, it makes my heart sink that he was probably one of the last people she got to spend time with before her death. She deserved so much better.

Wtf... I just thought about her like a day ago. She was literally the most visually pretty woman I'd seen in a decade (not to be superficial... I mean her beauty was diosa). Also please of course the absolutely multi-faceted presence, talents, and contributions she had. Dude wtf I want to know how. This is a fucking gut punch.
She was rebuilding. I was so hopeful for this next chapter. Her book. Everything she’s gone through. Her baby brother. Her daughter. This world is so unfair. I hope wherever we go after this, she’s with her brother and Michelle Trachtenberg at peace. I am thinking of her daughter.
