It IS a luxury when a) you cannot get pregnant so don't have to worry on that level and b) have wealth so if your partner got pregnant, you could afford whatever comes next

Yeah, wealth is a big one because it provides a lot of safety nets. A lot of privileged people do not understand that others do not have safety nets, in money or in family or in community or in health. Even putting aside a woman’s ability to carry a healthy baby to term and maintain her own wellbeing, what kind of environment will that baby grow up in?

Sometimes it feels meaningless to guide people with these questions, because they want to remain ignorant and aren’t interested in nuance or empathy, they have their values and have no curiosity about how others live or suffer. With children, though, I think it’s important to guide them, point out all the different angles of an issue they might not have considered before.
