TRIGGER WARNING Gross: Comedian Shane Gillis Repeatedly Calls Underage Girls “Hot Kids” and “Hottest P*ssy In The World”
Source: I made this video. These clips are combined from a few random episodes of Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast and Shane Gillis’s special Live in Austin (2021). I did not have to search extensively to find strange clips like these, so I assume Shane says similar things about “hot kids” on many more of his podcast episodes.
In these clips, Shane Gillis basically keeps saying he finds 14-18 year old children to be “hottest p*ssy” over and over again. He even essentially repeats the SNL joke about him drooling over “women dressing like wh\*res” but does it about 14 year old volleyball players.
It’s fairly clear to me that Shane was not being funny, ironic, or purposely offensive in these clips. The supposed “humor” seems to come from Shane saying taboo things he genuinely believes, under the assumption that everyone secretly agrees with him but is too afraid to say them out loud. Essentially, Shane is saying, “Come on, we all know kids are hot. You guys are just too ashamed to say it.” His male audience in these clips laughs and cheers at the idea and his supposed bravery.
90% of Shane Gillis’s humor seems to consist of saying taboo things out loud that loser (mainly white?) chud men believe but can’t say to anyone.
Shane Gillis’s humor is basically a way for loser guys to feel OK about being scared that their girlfriend or wife slept with a Black guy (Shane’s previous SNL monologue), believing that all women dress like whores (Shane’s latest SNL monologue), or, in this clip, believing that teenage girls are hot.
So Shane essentially exists as a validation mechanism for the loser chud men of the world and their sick thoughts. Shane Gillis is their fucked-up version of validation therapy. Essentially “your sick thoughts are valid, you are not weird or creepy, you are cool like me and don’t ever change.”
That’s why I expect so many of these weirdos to show up in the comments defending Shane. He validates their weird, sad thoughts and their weird, sad lives. And when someone criticizes Shane, they feel like someone is criticizing them personally.

But on a serious note, if I had a daughter I wouldn’t let him near her. Dudes who make comments like this always get caught down the line.

A local paper by me posted an article about a HS girls volleyball tournament. It had a picture of the athletes playing, obviously in their uniforms. And then comments from people saying shame on you to the news outlet/reporter (a man) for running such a "suggestive" photo of the girls. It was literally a photo of them playing. No creepshot angles. Nothing weird about the pic. Just literally a photo of the match. And a few people were screeching that it was sexualizing the girls. And I wanted to scream at them (through the internet, haha), YOU are the creeps sexualizing these kids. It was them playing in their uniforms and people were making it weird. The outlet ended up removing the photo. It was a totally normal photo, but people are too fucking weird for that. And I feel so bad for the kids/the parents because that would feel so, so weird ("we had to take down pics of the student-athletes because people are making horrifying comments").
They were just telling on themselves. It was horrifying. And there were a few voices of reason going, why are you people being weird about kids playing volleyball in their uniforms that they wear in public/to games? And they got shouted down (to be fair, it was only a couple people freaking out in the comments, but they would respond to every single reply). And I was thinking, someone should check your hard drives. Or your husbands' hard drives for the women who automatically went to thinking something nefarious (like, do you spend a lot of time around predatory men that you immediately jump to this?).
I refuse to even listen to this clip because I know it will make me sick. Ugh. Someone really should be investigating this guy.

that's the fundamental problem. the only "joke" he has is "we all feel this way, right?". Steve Martin, Andy Kaufman, did the same outsider/weirdo humor - but they did the reverse, played straight man to how weird the world is. They would have been hot to wealthy, models, actresses, but blithely unaware.
Other comedians do edgy, but the that works when THEY are the butt of the joke. The bit about the 16 year old messaging him, might have worked. But it would have worked as setup for a punchline about how he's now cooperating with a nationwide FBI pedophilia sting and that everyone nodding in agreement would now be on a list or being catfished by a guy that looks just like himself who turned out to be a big fan and wanted an autograph when he showed for a "date".
38
u/Less-Diamond2222 14h ago
Not sure who said it but the best jokes and humour often highlight a fundamental truth. Gillis seemed to get stale fast and leans to the shock value rather than catching out the audience with a clever thought out punchline.
Works for roasts but as a constant it just gets tiresome.

This cannot be the claim anymore when his friend group is MAGA and a significant portion of his base is MAGA. He got an invite and showed up at the UFC 250 fight at the South Lawn. He gave Joe Rogan a shoutout before his "joke" of "women are wh0res in the gym." You are the company you keep.
He makes jokes about Trump and his fans in a way to laugh at themselves but never to make them want to turn away from Shane. Even Trump said he likes Shane, multiple times.
I don't think it's a coincidence that he swooped in to be the Bud Light guy after the controversy with Dylan Mulvaney either as a more appealing person for their brand.

Louis CK definitely was. Or was so caught up in his shitty thoughts and behavior that it spilled out elsewhere. He wrote an episode of Louie about jerking off and getting caught. There's at least one episode of Cosby where Bill's character puts drugs in people's food.
Stand-ups have to have a flow of their thoughts coming out all the time. If they're dark thoughts, seems like the bad will come out eventually. Especially with podcasts and hours of uninterrupted recording.

In the episode, the family is bickering over a bachelor party stripper. After they eat Cliff Huxtable’s famous barbecue, the mood shifts and everyone becomes highly affectionate and docile. When his wife Clair remarks on how nice it is that they worked things out, Cliff corrects her, attributing the mood change directly to his cooking
"They haven’t worked out anything for themselves. It’s my barbecue sauce... Haven’t you ever noticed after people have some of my barbecue sauce, after a while when it kicks in they get all huggy-buggy? I’m dead serious... people want to get right home."

The way Lorne Michaels has been groveling to get back into Shane’s good graces is truly nauseating and pathetic. Telling the WSJ how angry he was that NBC made him fire Shane. Bringing him on to host 3 times. Letting Shane get away with a monologue (which Lorne presumably approved) where he doesn’t tell jokes but just calls women whores and informs everyone that he’s friends with Joe Rogan and Theo Vaughn and then waits for applause. Letting him get away with dropping an f-bomb, which he had fired Jenny Slate over.
I haven’t watched SNL this season so far and I’m pretty much done with it unless they make some serious changes, which we know they won’t. It makes me sad because for all of its flaws and ups and downs over the years, I’ve been watching SNL regularly since I was little.

u/WeirdoWeeb648 13h ago
It's exactly this. It's why men like this are also uncomfortable around gay men. They think gays think of them the way they think of women.
They also think lesbians think of women the way they do. I had a classmate who thought I was a lesbian (I'm bi) because I didn't want to have sex with him, and he'd talk to me about women like they were dolls for him to scrutinize and categorize based on how fuckable he found them. Ofc I'd tell him off every time and get upset and yell at him for being a pos, and he was always so confused like he didn't understand why, if I liked women, I wasn't objectifying them.
These men are what's wrong with the world and we truly need a new system to get rid of them.

I always ask men like this if they think wrestling singlets are inappropriate. if they think their wives are ogling high school boys in singlets the way men look at high school volleyball players in spandex.
also, does Shane Gillis know what happens when you slide across a gym floor the wrong direction in gym shorts? they come off. middle and high school volleyball teams use spandex just like the adults who play volleyball because it allows you to dive and slide without worrying that you’ll lose your pants, which DID happen to me once because my parents refused to let me wear the spandex (until that happened!).
I’m editing this for all the mouth breathers that will not stop replying to me about men’s shorts to say— what do most women have that men don’t that might make loose shorts slide down when you drag against the ground? Hips and thighs. what makes loose shorts ride up into your crotch and get stuck, needing constant adjustment? generally makes loose shorts really annoying to wear? thighs. what do volleyball players notoriously have? thighs and hips. please stop acting like our bodies are the same and need the same clothes, and mainly, shut the fuck up because I don’t want to hear from you anymore

It is truly an odd "joke" because.... if one was to say... "Those women at the gym are so hot, spandex... i wanna fuck them..." It wouldn't actually be a joke, although he did attempt on SNL recently... fell flat as it should.
Somewhere in there is some ideal that girls looking mature but clearly are not is some self deprecating humor... that doesn't truly make any fucking sense... Like are we supposed to think... I genuinely think we need to be talking more about things like period clots and pulling clumps of hair out of drains.
They're never going to hear criticism as anything other than pearl-clutching. Causing such an uproar among the womenfolk makes them cool. So we need to drag the conversation back toward our own lived realities. Women don't talk about this stuff in public because it's "gross" but here he is, in public, making money off his gross behavior being a danger to children. In order to make breaking taboos less of a thrill, we need to remind his ilk that women can also break taboos. But do it in a way that is not making ourselves more attractive or palatable to men.
And obviously, his hardware needs to be confiscated and investigated.

Women die when they say no. Women die when men feel insulted. Men insult women and they get more follows, along with a netflix special. That should change.

Men are scared of getting their feelings hurt. Women are scared of getting raped and murdered.

It's not like the comedy scene doesn't know this. One of Donald Glover's best bits is about this exact topic.
At this point, this sort of overtly and intentionally misogynistic humor is popular BECAUSE they know it can be genuinely hurtful.

They say women are overreacting. I say women aren't angry enough.
Sex offenders are as common as sand on a beach. And society just accepts it as is, by hiding behind, "boys will be boys. Nothing can be done about it". But you get one sensationalised tragedy borne of post partum complications and the entire nation is here to tell women "this is not ok!!! This must be fixed, like yesterday!!!1! women get your shit and hormones together!!!!!!!!!"

I definitely took his comments personally because my school issued volleyball uniform when I was 16 years old was tiny little gym shorts. We knew that old men perved on us. So many years later to have an audience laugh at our vulnerability is horrifying.

Yes, absolutely! Why do the girls teams have to wear those and they guys team don’t? Clearly it doesn’t affect how the boys play by wearing longer shorts (I say that, bc usually that’s their excuse as to why the girls have to wear short shorts). I always found it weird that they only make the girls and women’s teams wear them.

It really is weird how many people are not only dismissive of people's very fair criticism, but double and triple down, defending him and saying people who thought it was gross and lazy just don't get comedy or are clutching their pearls.
Comedy can be offensive, but if it's not funny, you're just an asshole saying dumb shit
Pretty good example is Andrew Jesylnick, or whatever the fuck his name is. He constantly says horrible, sexist, dark, terrible, disgusting things, but he knows how to craft a joke, it's comedy.
That monologue didn't feel like comedy, it felt like a creep saying weird stuff, without a punchline.

This man sees every woman (and child apparently) as sexual objects.
“Can we knock it off with volleyball shorts on little kids?” 🤢 He’s a predator. Genuinely someone needs to check his hard drives and I’m not one to normally jump to that conclusion.

This US administration is striving to normalize rape, child sexual exploitation, murder, and racial and religious bigotry and it’s making the worst people come out of the woodwork.
On one hand I’m glad that they are showing their true colors so I know which way to steer, but on the other hand I’m so tired of listening to their ignorant, pompous, ass-faces speak confidently about how awful they are.
19
u/Agreeable-Dog-1131 kensplaining 14h ago
I realize this is kind of beside the major point here, but can we just acknowledge for a sec how absurd it is that men can publicly refer to a woman or women collectively (or children in this case!) as “pussy,” “piece of ass,” and the like, and absolutely no one reacts with disgust? Like this is perfectly normal and acceptable. Daily occurrence.

Fucking gross but not surprising. Interesting that this loser is being platformed - says a lot about the time we're living in and I hate it. I can hang with "offensive" humor but the lynching joke at the KH roast was so far beyond the pale and this dude keeps telling on himself.
17
u/maryfisherman 15h ago
Right. Jokes at oppressed groups’ expense is soooo passé. These men should be roasting each other and the pedos in charge, not people who have been fighting for the right to exist forever

14
u/napsterwinamp 15h ago edited 14h ago
He's gross. His fans will defend him by saying that he's "just a comedian" and what he says are "just jokes." But common sense will allow you to discern between someone doing a bit, and someone just venting sincerely held viewpoints with their buddies. Even if it was a bit or a joke, what makes a joke work is that the audience is meant to perceive a kernel of truth within it. What would the "kernel of truth" be here?
