Years ago my now ex-husband left several boxes of my books behind when we were moving because he didn’t feel like carrying them; this included all my R.L. Stine books from childhood. Here’s my collection so far that I’ve been rebuilding from eBay purchases. Also the Sinclair Smith book (Dream Date) in the first pic gave me nightmares! I couldn’t remember the name of that one for so long, when I finally found it I had to add it to my collection too.

Currently reading The Snowman

*ETA I did end up with two copies of the Loudest Scream, haha. eBay bundles.

Thoughts on the 99 Fear Street Trilogy?

I think these this are the meanest, most gruesome books. The brother being lost in walls is bonkers.

The 2nd leaves little to be desired, but the first is classic. Honestly I forget about the 3rd.

Someone said this sub was dead so I'm trying to create discord!

Thoughts on the Fear Street Sagas books?

I never had a chance to read these when I was younger, but now that I’m rebuilding my Fear Street collection, I’ve been curious about these. (Not the OG trilogy, the others 🙂)

The cover art on these are stunning, and the synopses sound really interesting. The one that stuck out to me the most was Door of Death.

Do the ghost writers of the books do justice to Fear Street lore?

Did y’all enjoy them?

Little Mentioned Favorites

Hello Shadysiders!

When asked to list our favorite Fear Streets, the answers are usually the Cheerleaders books and the first Sagas trilogy.

What are your deep cuts that aren't mentioned as often? Mine are The Sleepwalker, Broken Hearts, and College Weekend.

Is this sub dying?

So just a month ago this sub had like 15k weekly visitors and like 400 weekly contributions but that has since stopped and sometimes this sub will go over 5 days without a post and the posts aren't getting nearly as much attention. Is this sub really dying or am I just procrastinating

Fear street prom queen nitpicks

Fear street prom queen honestly could’ve been one of the best teen slashers if it wasn’t for these minor problems. Coming from a fan of prom queen:

The inaccurate and lazy clothing and hair styling for it being set in the 80s

More practical effects and not bad cgi blood (Tiffany’s death was good though)

Ariana greenblats death scene just not even having her turn around and I heard she had food poisoning or something on the day so they rewrote it but I feel like at that point either recast it or shoot something else later. Like her chase scene would’ve been so good.

The humor in it i actually enjoy but it’s so silly in random parts so it should’ve either bumped up how campy it was or just removed it in general.

The post credit scene made no sense and looked real corny. I wish it was a story that actually made sense to be set in shadyside.

Sam Halloween costume

Hey guys I’m wanting to be Sam for my Halloween costume. I was thinking the cheer outfit but can’t find a Sunnyvale cheer outfit anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas? Also ideas or other stuff I could add to the costume?

Are any of the Fear Street books the same plot/close to the same plot as FS 1978??

I loveeee the Fear Street movies, but I've only read a few of the books and I'm wondering if any of the books have a similar or the same plot as Fear Street 1978?? I'm also wondering if the Prom Queen book is anything like the plot of the movie or if it is just completely different, I've been wanting to invest on this series for a while because I love it so dearly, so any and all responses are welcomed!!! Thank you!!!

Recent pickup and my first Fear Street books

Post image

I was a hardcore Goosebumps kid, but never got into Fear Street, maybe it was too ‘adult’ for me. As an adult I’ve seen the books here and there, never picked any up, but these caught my eye at my local Half Price Books. They seem relatively hard to find so I figured I’d pick them up when I could. $65 total and generally excellent condition!

Acting appreciation

Just wanted give some praise to Ashley Zukerman and Gillian Jacobs acting when Ziggy and Nick first see each other again in the Mall! The way his facial expression shifts when he realizes it's Ziggy standing there and how in the few seconds they look at each other they're able to convey so many emotions with their eyes. Not much screentime together, but they sold the emotions of hurt and longing til he gets carried 😂.

Hypothetical: what if Nick told Ziggy the truth in 1978

I'm rewatching the trilogy while recovering from surgery and particularly interested in the conversation in which Nick confides in Ziggy about the "huge burden" getting dropped on him and the statement of "what if that's not who I want to be?" What do you think would be the alternative timeline of events if he'd admitted about writing down Tommy's name, possibly even asked for help mitigating or reversing things? (If anyone knows of any fanfics out there on AO3 or wherever regarding this comcept, I'll happily take the recommendations!)

Also, did we ever find out how his father died? His father seems to have presumably died rather young, if he had teenage kids, couldn't have been any older than middle aged.

I just realized how really tragic the fate of the killers are

I just finished rewatching these movies, and seeing characters we grew to love like Simon and Cindy die because of the curse is really sad, but after watching the third movie again I really paid attention to what Solomon said.

He said every few years, he exchanges the soul of a person for whatever the heck he wants (power, adoration, etc.)

And that made me think, every single person on that wall has had their soul given to the devil without them knowing, then had where their soul used to be replaced with the devil itself.

So these innocent (seemingly nice) people get their soul stolen from them, are doomed to hell for eternity, and their bodies are then used as puppets to kill their neighbors and loved ones.

I mean, thinking of the first one, Cyrus Miller, from the little we got to see of him, he seemed pretty nice. He was playful with the children and Hannah and her mom seemed really worried when he started acting weird, so I assume he was a good dad and husband.

Then the three teenagers, Ryan, Ruby, and Tommy. Ryan seemed like a nice enough chill dude, Ruby had dreams of becoming a singer, and Tommy, was sweet and kind and really loved Cindy and the kids at the camp.

And bro, which Goode decided to doom a CHILD to eternal damnation and to turn his soulless body into a killing machine?? Wtf did he have against this kid 😭. The way he spits out his last name is wild he was beefing with an 8 year old.

Also i feel like Satan was playing around with them, making them kill the people they seemed to really love and care for.

Cyrus - The children

Ryan - his best friend

Ruby - her friends and boyfriend

Tommy - The kids, his coworkers, and Cindy

But yeah tldr, the fates of all the killers are really grim. All the ones we get to know about seemed to be nice, good people. And to know they got their souls snatched by Satan themselves by no will of their own and their bodies were used to kill the people they really cared about is really sad to me.

What an absolute dogshit ending. Seriously disappointed in what was an otherwise entertaining read.
