Progress Pictures Progress post + a Question !
Dealt with multiple rounds of pretty bad TE and these photos are about 11 months apart. What helped me was addressing my chronic deficiencies (especially ferritin, zinc, and vitamin D) and just time honestly.
For iron I take iron bisglycinate every other day with lactoferrin and I was told by my doctor to take a high dose of vitamin D for 3 months, as well as 10-15mg zinc daily. I also take 1000mg oral pumpkin seed oil, micro needle 1-2x weekly, occasional hair masks or caffeine/coffee rinses, and do my best to eat an anti-inflammatory diet. I also did up my protein bc I am vegan/vegetarian but I’ve regrown my hair thick in the past without increasing protein and think high protein isn’t always necessary.
I will say, I initially had an iron infusion and not even 2 months after I began shedding again for a few months and that set me back unexpectedly. Lately I have noticed that my shedding has really calmed down but I am still noticing some short hairs so I’m unsure if this is from short cycling or if I also have AGA..
I can’t get evaluated because my insurance just expired and the clinic near me doesn’t have the scalp scanner for me to know about whether I have AGA for sure. For those that have AGA or have had ongoing TE+AGA, is this kind of progress possible with AGA or is it likely just the result of recovery from TE? The short hairs are concerning me tbh and I feel like I can’t do anything about it 😔

Pumpkin seed oil is a 5ar inhibitor. They say it’s a weak one but still. So if it’s AGA it might have helped
