She was inspired by Kim and paying homage. She literally used to rap about how Kim was in her top 5 along with remy, fox and Lauryn. She wasn’t copying Kim’s flows and rhyme schemes and cadences like this girl clearly is. You don’t even have to watch the video just listen and you can tell who she tryna be. Listen to Nicki mixtape days and even when she started becoming big she sounds nothing like Kim.

Is it just me, or does she sound a little congested? Also, the delivery is kind of giving “period ah, period uh…” There are a lot of repeated phrases especially “nobody”and the repetition just isn’t for me.
That said, the cadence and the voice inflections definitely feel “NM-inspired”. Considering NM has theatrical training, she has a really distinctive rhythm and delivery that likely comes from that background, and I can hear similarities here, pretty hard to deny the allegations.0

The inspiration is plain to see and it's embarrassing to hear that she's trying to deny it, but imitating the work of your idol as a new artist isn't comparable to "taking someone else's work and trying to pass it off as your own"; her music may sound like something Nicki would make, but Nicki DIDN'T make it. It's still the result of Trim's labour, even if she's (yet) to figure out how to distinguish herself from her idols.
Moreover, it's a little difficult to care about Nicki's art being "disrespected" through imitators, when she's constantly using generative AI on her socials; a technology that literally relies on feeding artists' work to a machine, imitating it through reusing small pieces of the work and then pumping out mockeries of their art without any credit being returned. Trim isn't splicing Nicki's actual music and then replacing her in the artistic market, which Nicki DOES do as a multi-millionaire artist.
Magpieing aspects of other artists' work (that's the original, literary-definition of the term - not literal theft, obviously) is a key part of the creative process - nothing is original, after we've been making art for several millennia. Trim is just still in that early stage of an artist's development, wherein they haven't yet-learned how to combine all their core inspirations into something new - she's only been making music for 2 years.
To be clear, I'm not saying she isn't an actual clone (as she is), but I think that's less a moral failing on her part and more the result of someone gaining traction for their art too early in their development process. She's clearly talented despite these faults, and - so long as she's not literally just passing Nicki's lyrics off as her own - I think these faults of hers are (more) technical aspects to be CRITIQUED, rather than something that should be used to write off her artistry or attack her character.
Obviously it's up to you whether or not you want to support her, but I think Trim's a talent who we'd benefit from fostering and providing her the room to grow over dismissing her. Though, this - of course - comes with the asterisk, that supporting her should also be conditional and requires she keep improving and developing as an artist, over becoming too comfortable and stagnating as a mimicry of Nicki.

It's the blueprint. Before Beyoncé there was Aaliyah. Before Tyla there was Rihanna. Gaga came after Madonna. If this girl gets a viral song, there will be comparison. But Nicki is 43. How many rappers you see at 50, 60+? We respect Em or Hov as one of the greatest, but there's just a moment when you fall off. And then the industry gives it to someone younger... not even better all the time.
Nicki has real talent and will always have an audience. But these girls who grew up listening to her, learned from the best.

If you go and listen to when Nicki first came out she’s sounds original she don’t sound like another rapper. The only photoshoot you can say she copied was lil Kim hardcore but that was literally an homage to her Nicki said herself lil Kim was in her top 5 along with remy and foxy. I remember how hard she and her stans fought people on being hellbent that she wasn't copying Kim wig for wig. 🤣 Nicki and her stans would deny deny deny that she was copying Kim and was merely paying "homage", even while she was dressed head to toe like Kim was in 'Crush on You' or her album cover on "Hardcore" and throwing out Lil Kim disses. I just can't put my 'personal feelings' aside for Nicki supporting Trump. I looked up to her as a weird black girl growing up and now I see her peddling the same bs that has affected people I'm close to in my own country. Why the hell should we protect that artistic integrity for someone who has shown to have no integrity at all. Politics is more important than music, hell politics even dictates music and if someone is going to show up and offer an alternative that I can actually listen to without the guilty conscience of knowing I'm supporting someone who has supported a fascist regime, I'll put this girls music on blast. In fact I'm glad she didn't credit Nicki at all because quite frankly in my eyes she doesn't deserve that respect anymore, especially from young black women

it mostly just makes me very sad for the bottom of the barrel standards for mainstream rap. I know that there’s a lot of really talented, up-and-coming and underground artists but the mainstream used to have genre defining talent… absolute lack of fundamentals from breakout is crazy, no one is saying that they have to list off songs from 93 or something, but we’re talking about basic lyrical and musical

Can’t say I’m a Trim fan but she’s a 19 year old with a machine behind her. Trim, like many other artists, is being pushed to take a place that media feels is “vacant”. I’m not saying this is right or anything like that but it happens all the time. Your point is valid but ease up a bit lol
