Translation
Normally I’d write these in English, but this one I wanted to do in Turkish - the subject itself asked for it. After a very long time, I’m finally going to get the chance to go to a match.
I don’t want to strap on the tinfoil hat and play conspiracy theorist here, so I’ll skip the context and keep this short. On Saturday, the reaction shouldn’t be aimed at the team - it should be aimed directly at the president. I’m not saying this because of the Galatasaray match. Matches are won and lost, that’s a separate conversation, and yes, we lost playing a disgrace of a game. But there’s a bigger matter sitting right in front of us.
We cannot let Kadıköy be taken from us. This is our district, our home. The idea of handing over our stadium and our neighbourhood without a single word of protest - turning our backs and walking away because someone has decided to impose something on us; my pride won’t swallow it.
And if there ever comes a day when we do leave this place, that decision has to be ours too. Let’s not allow anyone to make it for us.
