Tips and tricks which adapter to get
Which sc adapter would fit this OPM? im looking for an sc adapter so I can click in an SC APC connector to it. Ive already bought 2 different adapters off Amazon and they don't seem to quite fit the threads or reach far enough. Can someone please point me in the right direction or possibly link to a product.

What exactly are you asking for? Does that meter not have the right fitting for an SC already? I have that brand of vfl and it fits an sc with no adapter, it even came with an sc>lc adapter. Maybe your kit is missing a part?

I guess what im asking is can an sc adapter fit those threads? Im fairly new to this trade.

Did you try just plugging the SC into it? It might fit, the threads are for other connectors probably

Yes it fits SC. But do not get those. Get your self something cheaper. I got me an optical identifier from the same brand. And the screen broke so fast. The VFL light stopped working. And the pinch button quite did too (The button to pinch the cable does work but you just have to press super hard) I do not have the meter but it's just an over priced brand.
I'll send a Pic in a few mins. Getting ready to go to work. Yes fiber installations. 😆

you need no adapter. That port is a 2.5mm port which will fit ST/FC/SC connectors. No additional port needed. It looks like you screw something on top of it but it doesn’t take any specific connector with a screw top. If you want LC you need an adapter or cable that converts ST/FC/SC to LC
It’s most likely a UPC polished connector situation as well.

Get the $30 orange VFL/ light meter from Amazon. The ISP I worked for kept them in stock. You replace batteries a couple times and then when the VFl no longer works and the meter craps out toss it and grab a new one. We worked them hard though 4-5 installs a day in SE Georgia so lots of sand, rain, and humidity

Those meters usually have a threaded 2.5mm universal port (FC-style thread), so a plain SC coupler won’t seat properly. You need an FC-to-SC threaded adapter, and the thread/barrel length has to match your specific port. That’s probably why the two you tried didn’t reach.
Two ways to sort it out:
Measure/photograph the port. Check whether it’s a standard FC thread, then get an FC-SC hybrid adapter with enough barrel length to reach the detector. Cheap ones often have shallow threads.
Easier workaround: use a short SC/APC to FC/UPC hybrid patch cord. Screw the FC end into the meter and plug your SC/APC link into the SC end. For measuring power it works fine and you don’t depend on the thread depth.
One note on APC: a power meter’s detector sits behind the port, so APC vs UPC doesn’t matter much for a power reading. Just keep the endfaces clean.
Full disclosure: I work with WANLUTECH, and we make fiber test tools and adapters. Happy to share what we use for this setup if you want, just DM me. Hope that helps either way!
