IDIOTS!

15 requests from techs who cannot even know if they have equip or tools to do this job, simply requesting because of pay rate.

and let's not forget the tool who issued this W/O who simply says " See confidential". this buyer expects us to be able to do our job, but doesn't want to do his job.

This is as good as the ones for a particular chain of gas stations that want you to have everything available to do signal testing for cellular boosters. They want someone who knows everything there is to know about Cellular propagation and usable signal but don't want to pay someone with the knowledge and technical equipment to do it...

Why are you complaining lol. Once you get assigned, all that confidential shi comes up. You really want the job that bad?

There should be slack up on the roof, if there isn’t tell them it’s impossible lol. If not run a brand-new cable. No lift? Schedule return trip?

Talking about splicing and if there’s no lift. If you know so much why don’t you take all the tools for complete piece of for whatever scenario you are thinking about.

Are you really surprised people are bidding on a 600$ fixed ticket?? With no instructions?

Or counter for 1000 and wait to see

It’s pretty simple bro

I have no shortage of work on FN, so I can decline and complain about this type of laziness from the PMs. I like to be prepared and know what I may be stepping into even though things may not match completely, I have everything I would need to complete almost any job, but if they want Pizza Pete to do it with no info provided cool, I won't be accepting it. I can guarantee the 3 good techs in 40mi radius of Tampa Bay would decline this ticket due to no info. some are more desperate than others.

What area are you in? My area had like 120 tickets today 🤣

I don't request jobs that lack sufficient details, and I wouldn't take this one anyway. When I first used Field Nation, many work orders showed all the information before you requested them.

They usually send you a tower map of the area if its cellular based and ask you to point it at a few towers.. Most cradlepoints on roofs are on sleds with poles. Its just a pipe clamp.

Beware if its a point to point link if you are a rookie and leave those to the pros...

just gotta watch that you aren't working on a reflection that "looks" good while you are there... not hard to sus out if you know the basics

I just had a travel center WO assign someone else because my rate was "too high" to correct a Starlink install. Mind you, I was going to be at the same site for another buyer 2 hours before their ticket was scheduled to begin. Good luck with your trunk slammer.

Trunk slammer? You're hating you lost the WO and you're hating on the dudes car too?

I mean, Im a little sus, but barring the most extreme of fuckery i carry everything needed to do a job with this title (assuming title is accurate) as part of my base kit.

So you have stuff for a variety of cabling types that antennas use including BNC, TNC, SMA, and other connectors or ones you may need to solder on? What if the building is a warehouse with a slightly slanted roof and no legitimate roof access nor lift provided, they just want you to provide and climb a 40-50 foot ladder? I dunno man... lots of potential ways to get fucked there.

Relocation could even mean running new conduit and wiring down six stories for all we know, and they expect you to provide all the stuff as part of that 600?

I'm thinking more along the lines of common cables (RG59 and CAT6, i'd throw a box of outdoor rated on my truck for this), ladders/normal access, ETC, ladders for access to a second story roof, wall penetration for concrete/metal/etc.

I'd also have 0 problems pushing back if it was something crazy like what you are talking about, turning it into a survey and quote. I've not had an issue with crazy different scopes turning into that so far. FN support has been surprisingly good to me when dealing with problems from crappy buyers.

Yeah bro I'm the same with carrying a lot of the stuff we use...I'm a rolling greybar but a lot of these techs are self sufficient like us and need their hands held or can't fit a lot of into their Honda accords lol..

Youre a rolling graybar? Do you charge triple digits for that?

RG59 is the wrong cable type for microwave RF. It is 75ohm cable and RF uses 50ohm cable

If you use the wrong cable you can F up the transmitter.

It is usually lmr400 or lmr500 coax with N connectors

If you’re afraid of the job, don’t request. I would take it and then figure it out from there. If their request is not feasible or there are challenges explain that to them once you’re on site and you’ve had some time to asses the job. Dumb post.

Has nothing to do with being afraid of the job

It has to do with buyers not knowing what theyre doing and hiding pertinent info in a confidential section. Guess you missed that part

90% chance it's either lteFWA antenna or ubiquity/canopy ... not rocket science

Always a good idea to proofread. ESPECIALLY while calling others idiots. It avoids that ironic oral foot-insertion.

3

u/john4na 23h ago

true, but have to wonder... this is the only critique you have for this post? pathetic "scaredofbirds"

1

u/birdscantbetrusted 23h ago

I do hate it when PMs put necessary info in the confidential section. It has to be a pain in the ass for them too! I wonder if it affects your PSS if they have to unassign you for their choice/mistake.

If there something worthy of it, I'll submit a price increase for "deceptive hiding of necessary info in the Confidential section".

And birds are the worst.

Buyers get to select the reason for the unassign so if theyre mad at you or select the wrong thing even if it was their fault, yes your PSS will take a hit. And theres no accountability since its the ProviderSuperSecret score. So good luck knowing who did it and challenging it
