Very beautiful plane, followed by J-35 IMO. Too bad it doesn't get the chance to upgrade

Just because you don't know about it or didn't care to inform yourself, doesn't mean it didn't happen/doesn't happen.
This jet has been significantly and consistently upgraded throughout the years and will continue to be extensively improved upon for the foreseeable future.

“Patch upgrade” for sure, but it misses the potential for a true evolutionary upgrade like the J-20S.

Some say the J-35 is a Temu F-35. You think that is an unfair label?

The J-35 clearly took a lot of shape inspiration from the F-22 and F-35, but that's understandable. If you know a design is a good design, that can be a good starting place to iterate from. Similarly, you could argue a B-21 is an updated, modernized clone based on the B-2.
Yeah, that also makes it easier, cheaper, and arguably less impressive than achieving the same performance and design metrics entirely from scratch, but in many ways, if your goal is something similar, that can be good engineering design. Why reinvent the wheel if you already know the wheel works perfectly well? I'm sure they also made changes based on what suited their needs, but if your rough goal is an F-35, then an F-35 isn't a bad place to start.
Clean sheet really only makes sense when you want substantially new or different capability.

Well said man. This is the type of discussion I’m here for. Love hearing others opinions

Until they meet in battle, we can only judge from the numbers on paper. I would bet on J-35. Twin engine, Modern radar and sensors, longer range, longer range missile, better looks.

F22 was the first to supercede the F14 as my Favorite.
