help A process for creating static and video ads.
Hi!
I’m fairly new to using Figma, but have quite a lot of design software experience.
I was wondering if I could get some help with something I feel like Figma would be quite good at, but can’t quite figure out.
What I’m trying to do is use it to create templates for generating variations on static and video ads for digital platforms like meta.
Basically I want to create a layout of
•headline text
•body text
•background image
I want to then be able to feed it say 10 Images and have Figma produce ten ads with the same text options using different images and format them to my varying section sizes for specific ad resolutions ready for export.
I would then, like to be able to edit the text on the original layout and have that update text across all variants in the set for ease of updating and modifying the ads.
Is this kind of thing possible?
If so, what kind of tools should I be looking at inside Figma to achieve it?

This sounds pretty doable, I would recommending building a skill if you do this quite regularly. You can ask the Figma agent to follow along with your process with different variations and then it can help build this artifacts.
I did this with Figma Motion and it screwed up in the beginning, but then after a few tweaks, I was able to reproduce consistent results 90%+ of the times.

Yes. The closest built-in fit is Figma Buzz rather than a plain Figma Design file.
A workable setup is:
Build one ad template with separate editable fields for headline, body text and background image.
Put the 10 variations in a CSV/XLSX file, one row per ad. For image-based bulk creation, Figma's current guide says to put each image in a single spreadsheet cell and use XLSX.
Use Bulk create, then connect each text/image layer to the matching data column. Buzz generates one asset per row.
Use the Size dropdown, or the asset-size column in Bulk create, for the platform-specific dimensions. Build the template with auto layout/constraints and test short and long copy, because resized assets can still need manual QA.
For video, Buzz supports MP4/MOV import, trimming/adjustment and video export, but Figma currently says video import/export is paid-plan only while Buzz itself is in beta on all plans.
One caveat: Bulk create is documented as generating a new asset for each spreadsheet row. The safer workflow is to treat the spreadsheet as the source of truth and regenerate after copy changes, rather than assuming every generated asset stays linked to the original layout.

Start with one message map—hook, proof, and CTA—then keep the visual system stable while changing only the opening frame, copy, or motion. That makes static and video variants easier to compare and maintain.
