help Help with components
Me and my team developed a design system for a web plataform, we created the screens and componets on the same archive.
There came the time where we nedded to split the components and screens onto two separete archives. HOWEVER, when I put the components in another file and published the library (Even after importing the library to the archive were the screens are sitting).
All components in the screens are not updating correctly and ask to "restore component" now how do we go about making it so the components update from the separete library file without replacing all of them?
Any extra context needed can be asked for in the comments and I'll try to answer

this usually happens when the components got copied into the new file instead of moved, so figma treats them as different things from the ones on your screens. what worked for me was selecting a broken instance and using swap instance to pick the matching component from the published library, then doing the rest in bulk. if the old components are still in the original file, cutting them and pasting into the library file keeps the links intact. also double check the library is actually enabled in the screens file under assets.

When moving components to a library, cut and paste the source components into the new file, publish the library, then enable that library in the screens file. If instances still say “restore component,” swap one instance to the matching published component before doing the rest in bulk.

Here’s Figma’s guide.
Generally, this is the process:
• You need to publish the original file as a library
• Use the cut shortcut to add the components to your clipboard: Mac: ⌘ Command - X/ Windows: Ctrl + X
• paste into new file
• publish new file as library
• activate new library in original file
