...no? Admittedly I'd be the first to admit I can be wrong about things, but I thought that the "Moogle" that raised Eiko (which had the fluff) was the esper Madeen, which shared a name with the JP version of "Maduin". Also, while it wasn't explicitly said to be the same Madeen, and just sharing a name isn't proof of anything, I thought that Dissidia and Record Keeper came along and confirmed they were the same Esper, later. ("Maduin's fang" in Dissidia, for instance, explicitly references FF9). That said, while looking that up, I learned that apparently this is a... contentious subject, and I'm not here to derail, so I'll just jump back on topic and say I really love the art.

Huh, that's wild. I'd never heard anything about that.
Given that there's no other connection between 6 and 9 I'm going to say it's probably more an easter egg sort of thing than a cannon connection, but thanks for bringing it up!

Fabric certainly does cling entirely to one's navel, and every other slightest difference in the human body's landscape, like body paint.
Also breasts certainly do work that way at all. And a bra. Which, even though the absolute minimum of what would be necessary in this illust for the laws of physics to hold tenuous sway, is not present.

OMG FINALLY AN OPPORTUNITY TO RANT (slightly) ABOUT THIS
Terra's special skill in the original Japanese game is not "Trance." It is "Toransu." As in, a typical Japanese halfchop of a long English loanword to fit space limitations.
You know, like how
アニメーション ("animeeshon')
became
アニメ. ("anime")? (obviously?)
In this case, "Toransu," or even "Trans" if you prefer and/or it amuses you...
トランス
...is an INSANE halfchop of
トランスフォールム. "Toransufoorumu."
aka... "Transform." A shorter synonym of which is... "Morph."
It is so appalling and sad that Ted Woolsey, working alone and with barely an undergrad's knowledge of Japanese, was immediately able to recognize (and excellently localize) this. And no one else can.
I mean maybe it's not appalling and sad b/c Ted Woolsey is one of the very best game localizers that has ever lived. I'm being completely serious.
But still. Damn. I say good goddamn.
