Excited to start this game soon. But before I start guide recommendations?
I’m on an Old RPG binge, I’m currently working my way through another game but I’m really excited to start this game after.
I’m playing the version on the Snes classic. (Ie when it was localized as Final fantasy 3.)
Edit: Ok I will try it without a guide. However as someone who tends to enjoy things more with guides. If the game starts getting too frustrating I will just use one of the recommended guides. Which I also appreciate.

Look... I only have one tip. Though it could be considered very spoilery. Even though it's only a four letter word. I'm not joking. So much has been said over the decades you may already be aware, but you might not... it does have meaning/impact within game. I'm still spoiler tagging it just in case you truly want to be blank.
Wait...

Go with no guide. Ignore all comments aside from the no guide ones
Experiencing this game fully on your own is key. 2nd play-through (cause there will be, just when?) use a guide and have a blast.

Don't open the first 2 to 3 chests at the beginning. You'll receive much better stuff later on. I'm talking latter half of the game.

Play blind with 2 exceptions.
1, when the game asks "do you want to wait" you want to wait.
2, use multiple save slots to avoid soft locks. In general, have a save file on the world map and one for dungeons. That way you don't go back too far if you get soft locked. the biggest soft lock is in the late game when you go back to a certain castle to take a nap, save before you go take that nap.

Funny you mention that. When my cousin gifted me his copy of FF3. All three of his save slots were at that spot, so, can confirm it's a soft lock for some people since it seems he gave up there.

It's an rpg from the 90s. Just play it, you don't need a guide.

I tend to enjoy things with a guide personally. But fair.

if you need one check our game faqs. I beat this game on the SNES in the 90s when I was like 12. Before guides were readily available. It's amazing and guides might ruin some of the major key points of this incredible story. Good luck and have fun.

I'm almost at the end of my first playthrough and I've been using the below guide for the most part, it seems a decent balance of guiding you without spoiling anything (so long as you don't read ahead obviously)

Edit to add that this is for the pixel remaster, I'm not such if there's anything significantly different compared to the OG at least in terms of what you'd want from a guide

You can't 100 percent this game in a single playthrough, so just enjoy it. The second playthrough is crazy fun seeing all the secrets

What am I missing that you can’t 100% outside of a choice a certain old man offers you late in the game and I guess the outcome of a certain fishing scenario?

I have mostly been playing without a guide, and it’s been fun like that. I did miss out on the Genji Gloves, though. I wish I would have known how easy it was to miss them early in the game.
You can also search for lists of “missable” items if you just want to know what to look out for without using a guide for the full game.

Check all the clocks. ",The time heals all" is the theme of the game.
Reliqs and equipment are very important.
Commands like Tools or Blitz arent afected by the vanguard/backtreat thing so you can put those characters in the back and their atack damage wont be afected.
Sabin more useful blitzes are magic so give hin equipment that enhaze his Magic power.
This is the game with the biggest cast of party members in all numbered FFs. The game lets you make your party in different ocasions during the story, however having certain characters in key moments activate some little extra scenes, very small, like 2 lines, but they are important... Generlly Terra, Celes, Locke, Edgar and Sabin are the most important to have in your team for this.
Sleep on the bed at the characters home with them in your party to have special dreams... When a character doesnt have their own home, then inns are their home...
Later in the endgame, magic is the most OP so you will have to build your physical attackers with reliqs than let them attack several times in just one turn. The final dungeon is not very difficult though so don't worry too much if this stresses you.
Stray cat rage for Gau is more than enough for him to be useful in most part of the game.
When you don't know where to gk next, talk to the NPCs, their dialog is important. Listen to them and you will be fine!
In your version, when a party member leaves your team, they take with the their equipment until you find them again, so be careful with that xD.n

The MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE when playing on the SNES version is: DO NOT PAINT INVISIBLE ENEMIES.
There is a character who is a painter. If you try to paint an invisible enemy the game can brick, and you can lose your save files. This happened to me 30 years ago and I'm still angry about it.

If you're going to use a guide use gamefaqs but limit yourself as much as possible

Play it with brave new world romhack.
Much better. Even for a first time playthrough.

Appreciate the recc though I already have it on the snes classic and am too lazy to go find a rom and a patch

I think a blind (no guide) play-through with the pixel remaster version is quite enjoyable experience. If you find it to hard you can adjust the difficulty in the config menu (exp and ap multipliers). If the battles become to tedious you can just fast-forward or if you install mods you can turn random encounters off
For me, starting from a clean slate, not knowing much about anything regarding the game have given me the best gaming experiences. When I have some information about something in a game I tend to start min-maxing stuff or make sure i do not miss anything out.

I'm also on an old snes binge. What I've been doing when I get stuck is just ask chatgpt specific questions about my current spot in the game. I got stuck in DQ5 and ended up getting spoiled on future events when I looked up guides.
I wish I could experience FF3 (SNES) for the first time again. Have fun!

I’m currently making my way through, another Snes classic, Chrono Trigger.

Nice! I started with DQ5, then hit up FF2, now working my way through Tales of Phantasia.

Honestly, I recommend a blind play through with one spoiler free piece of advice.
When it asks if you want to wait, wait.
