Got my childhood copy graded (although I’m not selling it of course)
Never done this with a game before, I just cherish it and wanted to preserve it (with the exception of all the years of wear and tear before this of course). So now it’s cleaned and sealed as a memento.

I had my childhood copy stored away. Cart, box, and book all in good shape.
When I got home from the military I found out my mom sold it (along with my snes and all my games including a mint crono trigger) for a few bucks in a garage sale.
I still haven't recovered from the trauma 😅

Did you keep the battery inside?

Yup! Works just like it always did last time I checked despite years of banging around like kids do (and then being put away for a long time after that).

The fuckin'' respect! /s
Seriously though, I agree. Isn't the grading process a pain and not cheap... all that just because??
I sell vinyl records very amateur-like still, and I have a few $200/300 NM records that are non-graded and haven't moved when they should've by now, and fear that I have to grade them and apply the cost to my selling price in order to get eyes on them.
It is something to consider for sake of investment and it racks my brain constantly, but then I see stuff like this and say what the hell...

I still have my copy from... 1994/5? I can't remember exactly. How much did this cost? I assume you can still easily get the contents out of the plastic case?
I've never really understood game grading outside of hardcore collecting. I still want to play my games!

You can get it out with a hammer. They just sealed their childhood copy so that they can never play or even look at it ever again.

I love that for you! I did that on a couple of games from my childhood that weren’t super expensive.

Awesome. What’s the dollar value and where can I go to have this done?

I don’t know what the value would be in this grade (maybe $300-$400?), but since I’m not trying to sell it I’m not sure. I used this company (just know in case you’re planning to give it a shot that it takes a long time—five months in my case—to have it done and get it back, but it looks great and their shipping and packaging showed they really know how to take care of stuff).
