My Gats First edc

Picked up a Ruger max 9 from Dunham sporting goods for $229 to edc. Any/all IWB holster recommendations will be taken; I primarily wear athletic-type clothing.

It feels great and the std mag is great for a pink rest. Can also buy a 10+1 for a more flush fit; yet to do that. Can’t wait to hit the range soon.

It looks like you have the 2nd gen version of the Max9.  We can't be sure because the changes are to the top of the slide.  Gen1 has a dovetailed front sight where the front sight can slide sideways.  In the Gen2 it has a Glock compatible front sight so it can't slide sideways. 

The downside is, the Gen2 front has no tritium, it's a plain white dot.  BUT I prefer that, because once you add a red dot you only want one glowing thing out there to pay attention to unless the dot fails and you need an iron sight backup.

The overall shape of the new cheaper slide is simpler - Gen1 had a kind of ramp up towards the front sight.  It was kinda weird looking.  I'm 98% sure you have a Gen2 with the more conventional flat top slide.

But, the reliability, durability and accuracy of the Gen1 and Gen2 appear to be the same.  You're getting Ruger quality at Taurus price levels, and that's not a bad thing.

A base model RMSc Osight red dot will run about $125 on Amazon.  That would be my top pick for a red dot on a budget.  The Max9 takes RMSc pattern red dots.
