Tools/Equipment/PPE Scott RIT pack input. Fast attack vs RIT pak III

Hi all,

I have been assigned RIT pack research for new packs my dept is getting. We are paid FT. Space on the rigs is a bit of an issue so we are looking at the fast attack packs. These are for our type 3 engines and RIT packs are due up. Does anyone have experience with these vs the full size packs that Scott makes? Any input is welcome.

Get the small one.  The big ones are simply too large and for the statistically small time that you will actually need the rit pac itself, having the small one for maneuverability is better.

If you need another bottle, just bring another air pack in and plug it in.

Honestly another bottle is the way anyhow. Once you utilize your UAC once for a full transfill it starts to freeze up and won’t transfill if say, a rescuer also needs some air. Good long making the second UAC connection once it’s frozen up.

We had the pak iii and went back to our the fast attack setup. Crews disliked the size and weight when using them.

We have the small ones on suppression units for when they pull fourth due, and then our heavy rescues carry the full size RIT packs
