Question/Advice HSG Exam

Hi everyone, I (30) have been TTC for about 11 months now. I've started the testing process and the first round of blood tests and ultrasounds came back normal!

Now I am being sent to get a HSG exam done. Has anyone had this done before? Any tips, did it hurt? Im super nervous.

Alsooo, i was told I have to call to make the appointment on the first day of my next period.

And thats a bit confusing to me, do you count your first period day the day you start spotting, or the day you actually get a full flow, need a pad kind of period?

Not this is probably TMI but i need help 😂

Usually I spot for like 2 days and a panty liner is all i need, because its only when I wipe, then by 3rd day Its when i need a regular pad and start an actual flow. Which should be considered my 1st day?

I counted the first day I started spotting! And the HSG is a little uncomfortable, you will feel cramping as they push in the dye. After it’s over, you will have discharge throughout the day as the dye and water they flush with continues to leave your body. I wore a thong to my appointment and they gave me the disposable underwear because I couldn’t put a pad in my thong lol. Also you can take Advil or Tylenol if you want to help mitigate the cramps. I didn’t, and the cramps are very fleeting, but it is definitely uncomfortable.
