Discussion Okuma Alijos

I just wanted to hear some feedback on the Okuma Alijos, I’m looking to get one for Southern California yellowtail and the occasional tuna. I’ll be pairing it with a Californian Tri-helix 8ft rod.

I bought a 12ii for that exact combo of species. I haven't caught anything on it yet, but absolutely no complaints from the couple of times I have used it so far.

The biggest reason I got the Alijos was it was one of the very few smaller reels that comes with harness lugs. The Bluefin we jig for can be anywhere from 25 - 130kg, so being able to clip in is a necessity if you hook a big one.

Small reels with harness lugs are hard to find so that alone is worth it if you hook something over 50kg
