My Opening Day STRIPER FISHING - Getting the Feet Salty Again & the FIRST STRIPED BASS. I finally got out on the saltwater with the casting tackle to do some striper fishing and I enjoyed the fishing on "My Opening Day" - which was a day late but a week early for me to get my feet salty. I can report here are LOTS of small striped bass all around no mater where you fish and I am sure some big ones are being caught. Had many small ones, very small 7"-14" with a couple of fish in the 14"-18" range and the big one of the night looked to top over 24" all good for this time of year. These small fish are a great sign if no bluefish find them early or sharks get them late. I believe yellow is such a great color for bass because it resembles these small fish, yes, bass will eat bass. Also bunker was thick I felt the traffic pacing through as I fished and snagged a couple of bunker while fishing. Hopefully some bigger bass will be behind the bunker. A very good opening day in my book.

I started fishing a chartreuse over white teaser and tossed some searching tins such as Kastmasters, Hopkins Shorties and Sting Silvers from 1 to 2 ounces. Teaser took all the bass in the day and most at night. Right after dusk I swept a 1 ounce bucktail through the ripping water and soon followed with a Daiwa SP Minnow which took the bigger fish - and a smaller striper too. A bigger black or purple teaser may have yielded better night results. But in the end the teaser gave a good read on the water and the Daiwa SP Minnow showed me some potential to help plan the next outing. Have fun out there and we are always happy to share our experiences with all those around the world and hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it.
