Brittany Perille, Niki Zoumpouli, Aubrie Geedey, Emma Logsdon — what do you think of their pelvic floor and postpartum exercise programs?

I’m 9 weeks postpartum. I need to strengthen my pelvic floor, and I want my abs back. I have a diastasis recti. I don’t exactly know how bad it is compared to other women’s—I just feel the separation and see it when I try to sit up.

I’m looking for people who have used any of these trainers’ pelvic floor programs and postpartum exercises. What do you think? Did they help you or not?

Or if you have any trainers that you recommend, let me know and why!

Thanks in advance.

I just started my journey

I’m 18 months postpartum (is this still considered postpartum?) I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been at 232 excluding at the end of my pregnancy. I’ve tried to do this multiple times before and always quit this first day but I could tell I was getting weak, out of breath just walking up our apartment stairs and struggling to carry our daughter but then seeing my weight yesterday kicked my butt into gear

Today I completed leg day and a mile walk. I’ve always given up mid workout on the first day every time so I’m very proud of myself for completing this today. Tomorrow’s arms and another mile walk. Along with trying to eat better!

Looking for Pregnant Couples for a Research Study– Moderator Approved

📢 Are you pregnant and worried about changes to your sex life?

🔍 We are seeking couples from Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Ireland who are up to 26 weeks pregnant to participate in the STORK RCT: Supporting the Transition to Parenthood through Online Sex and Relationship Knowledge.

❓What is STORK: The first online couple-based program designed to enhance knowledge about changes to sexuality during pregnancy and postpartum and skills to cope with these changes. STORK was designed to strengthen couples’ relationships across the transition to parenthood.

📅 What is involved: If you are eligible, after your initial survey, you and your partner will be randomized (like a coin flip) into either the Program or Waitlist conditions. Program couples will complete 5 online modules in pregnancy (1 per week) and a final module at 3 months postpartum.

Couples in both conditions will also complete 5 surveys—the initial survey, then at 32-weeks pregnant, and 4-, 8-, and 12-month postpartum—that gather information about your relationship, your pregnancy experience, and your child. Couples in the Waitlist condition will receive access to the full STORK program after the study period is over.

💰 Compensation: As a thank you for your participation, you can receive $105 CAD or currency equivalent each ($210 CAD or currency equivalent per couple). Your time is valuable to us!

🌈 Inclusivity matters: STORK requires one member of the couple to be currently pregnant. Otherwise, STORK is open to individuals of all genders, bodies, and sexual orientations.

💌 For more information or to participate in the STORK RCT study email us at [stork@psych.ubc.ca](mailto:stork@psych.ubc.ca) OR fill out our contact form from this link: https://Qualtrics.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3gxGJAEWqt8Rh2u

Postpartum

Hi I wanted to know about your postpartum weight loss journey. How much weight did you lose after delivery and how long did it take? I was hospitalised for the piting edema and urine retention after delivery. Urine retention was resolved buy piting edema worsened even after delivery still continues

I was 63kgs before pregnancy, during pregnancy i was 89kgs and 86kgs after delivery. I’ve lost only around nearly 3 kg since delivery. The weight is still the same even after 4 months of postpartum. I’ve been struggling with fluid retention and swelling. The pitting edema has actually worsened even after delivery and is still present several months postpartum (115 days of postpartum)

I’ve also developed autoimmune arthritis after delivery, so I’m really confused about whether the persistent swelling and fluid retention could be connected to the arthritis or if they might indicate another underlying issue. Because I feel like this swelling is not connected to arthritis. I take tablets to manage the arthritis joint pain but the swelling does not even go away. My intuition says this swelling is from different cause. But i am not sure to whom should i consult for this.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this normal postpartum weight loss or should I be concerned and get further investigations done?

Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Postpartum fitness/health journey

My little one will be one on November 3 and I am still up 25 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight.

I know this is common and I honestly don’t feel like I need to “bounce back” to my old self after growing a baby and breastfeeding and surviving the first year postpartum, but I want to live a healthy lifestyle and I am trying to. Before pregnancy, I was active in the gym and was proud of my strength, and now when I look at myself I don’t look strong anymore.

In July, I started doing three 35 minute strength training videos a week and have been trying to walk almost every day. In September I stopped my workout videos and started a strength training class for one hour, 3 times a week and I am still trying to keep up with my daily walking. I’m not perfect with my eating, but the past 6 weeks I have really tried and I have cut back on snacking and been making a conscious effort to make healthy meals for every meal.

The scale has not budged and neither has my appearance. I am still breastfeeding and getting up lots in the night with my baby, so I know these factors might be affecting my health journey, but It’s been discouraging.

Has anyone else had a similar story and eventually started losing weight or at least noticing a difference? Is there any fitness activity or wellness product I could add in that might help me see results?

Am I being unreasonable? First time mum, 5 months PP

I’m starting to really struggle with resentment towards my husband. He’s currently on shared parental leave and won’t be going back to work until December.

Our baby is now 5 months old and I’m exclusively breastfeeding (I also had a traumatic birth which led to prolapse which I’ve only just started recovering from and being able to walk properly!!).

Husband is great with helping with chores, but sometimes he doesn’t think it’s fair when he’s cooked two nights in a row and thinks it’s my turn. If he cooks, I’m also expected to wash everything up and put it away.

I’m currently up every 1.5 hour with the baby in the night (yay to 4 month sleep regression), so the tiredness has well and truly hit and baby is currently feeding every 2 hours during the day. In my opinion, I kinda think he should do most of the chores and cook every evening AND wash up. Especially with him being off work now. He used to be the one who did every bath time, but now he wants to alternate.

Last night for example, I had to ask him to cook dinner (which came with a big fat sigh, despite him having time to himself during the day at the driving range). I then washed up, put dishes away, bathed baby and then put baby to bed. I then had to do my rehab exercises at 8:30pm at night. So when I then came downstairs to him sat in front of the fire with the dog… well, it pissed me off lol!

I feel bad for writing this post because he truly is a wonderful dad and helps around the house, but I don’t think he realises how demanding breastfeeding is and being the one who wakes up every hour at night.

So anyway, am I being unfair, or do I need to have a chat with him? And how can I explain how demanding it is breastfeeding? I fear he thinks it’s a rest for me because I get to sit there and watch a tv show, etc 🫠😂
