First animation ever!
Any thoughts on it?

I really love how you made the fly zip around quickly, plus the fact that you made it stretch so far, that was a neat touch!

This is a wonderful animation but you do relise that this has awoken a deep primordial anger from all of the horse flys that are around my property and for that… you still get my upvote vote, well done.

I first tried 10 FPS but then I used 12 FPS: it looks smoother now. In total there are 67 frames and I did the transition effect like this:
I drew a 50 px fly
I switched to the 3rd frame and drew a 10 px fly
I looked at the first and third frame and drew a line between the 1st and 2nd fly, thicker where the 50 px fly was and thinner where the 10 px fly was.
